Restored 1940's Resort Cabin on Flathead Lake, MT
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This charming fully furnished rustic cabin was a resort cabin in the 1940’s on Western Montana’s scenic Flathead Lake. It was fully remodeled in 2004 but it’s character was preserved as the authentic log walls and natural wood floors were refurbished. Updated luxuries such as granite kitchen and bathroom countertops and a jetted bath tub help make this cozy cabin a peaceful retreat. Decor includes antlers and hides native to Montana such as an elk hide bedspread and deer antlers on the bedroom walls. In addition to a master bedroom with a premiere view of the lake and log queen bed; each of the two guest bedrooms have two log bunk beds per room making it a perfect family stay for visitors with children. The cabin has a cherry orchard where visitors can enjoy famous regional Flathead cherries to their hearts content during cherry season (end of July to beginning of August).
Close up views of the lake can be seen from the kitchen, living/dining room and master bedroom, which has large sliding glass doors that lead to the deck. Step out of the front door onto a wrap around deck with table/chairs, grill, hammock and view of the lake. The deck is connected to stairs that lead you down to a large cement patio with a built in fire pit and boat dock attached to the patio. The patio includes a picnic table, lounge chairs and sun umbrella. The lake is so close to the cabin you can stand on the deck above the patio and boat dock and throw a stone into the lake. The pristine lake is clear and perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, jet skiing, kayaking or just lounging around in an inflatable raft by the boat dock. Islands on the lake are nearby and can be visited by jet ski or boat. We have had several repeat visitors who have been renting the cabin every year since it's become available, as it has become their favorite place to get away for a peaceful retreat as well.
The cabin is only 7 miles from the nearest town and about 20 minutes from Big Fork, a great tourist destination. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Mission Mountains, Mission & Flathead valleys and Flathead Lake on your way to Glacier National Park, The Bison Range, and other Federal & State Parks all within a 2 hour drive or less. The lake is surrounded by State Parks that allow camping and have boat ramps. The perfect retreat for a visit in Big Sky Country.
Discounts may apply for multiple weeks or out of season rentals. Reservations go from Sunday to Sunday unless approved by owner. Additional cleaning fees may be needed for large groups. No smoking. Boats will need to be put in the lake in at the nearby Finley Point State Park. Boat dock may not be used for overnight mooring and boats should not be kept at the dock if the weather is unfavorable. Owner/Property Management Company is not liable for damage to watercraft if occurs. Parking for RVs or boats must be pre-approved by owner.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: Flathead Lake is a magical destination that has created many lifelong memories for me and my spouse, all involving family and friends. We have family that grew up in the area and my husband and I use to visit the lake when we were younger and dating, dreaming of one day owning a place on the lake. After marriage and having children we were able to purchase the old resort cabin as a vacation home and fully restore it to its former glory with updated touches that make it warm and welcoming. We live a couple of hours away so we are able to maintain the cabin and visit it regularly.
Why the Owner Chose Skidoo Bay:
The pristine lake, water activities and mountainous views are breathtaking. Nature is right out your front door and the cabin is tucked away just enough that you feel like you've escaped the daily demands of life. We still go there to get away and just be a family. Every visit builds more incredible memories for our family and friends. Visitors are still close enough to town that they can jump in the car and visit Polson or Bigfork for entertainment and sightseeing, all less than a half hour away.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The best thing about Flathead Lake is the simplicity and beauty of the destination. The cabin is on a cherry orchard so there's nothing better than picking a fresh bowl of cherries right off the trees during cherry season and walking down to the lake to eat the cherries in the sun with your feet hanging off the boat dock. Jet skiing is a great way to see the lake and cool off or you can pack a picnic lunch and head out to visit an island on the lake and fish, watch the wildlife or just explore. Gathering around the fire pit and roasting marshmallows or hot dogs and watching the sun set is another family favorite. It's the perfect place to hunker down and relax taking a dip in the lake when you feel like it and then reading a book as you sit by the water and lay in the sun. Visitors can also enjoy cooking a nice meal as they watch the view of the lake from the window. After a long day of sightseeing you can enjoy a soak in the jetted tub and cozy up to the gas fire place. Another simple pleasure is eating a nice meal as you sit on the deck overlooking the lake with a glass of wine. It's a little slice of heaven in Big Sky Country.
