We rented this home to celebrate my moms 60th birthday. There were 6 adults and 4 children in our group and we had a blast! The house is roomy and gave each family their own private area and plenty of space for group fun. It's right on the water so my dad was able to fish while the kids played in the yard. The kitchen is equip with everything that you could possible need to enjoy dinners. My son has allergies and there was only one negative...he had reactions to what must have been cat dander from a previous rental. Everything looked very clean. It's secluded enough but close enough to the action. We went bowling, walked trails, and even drove to the Safari that was about 20 minutes away. Cedar point was not open for the season yet but...that could be an option for you as well. I would recommend this house for sure!

Great space and accommodations in this house on the bay close to Cedar Point. Plenty of towels and amenities. We would definitely stay here again. House can actually sleep 10 people all in beds. The parents live right across the street so that was helpful when we needed to borrow something. Owner left us a note and told us we could stay past 10 am since there was no one else coming right after . . that was very helpful.

We spent the weekend here with our adult children and grandchild. The house is beautifully located on the water near Cedar Point. The sunsetw are killer and the mornings had their own beauty. If you like watching waterfowl, you will love it here. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. Julie was extremely helpful and simply treated us great. Definetely recommend it.

The location is truly beautiful - sunsets on the back deck were a highlight of the long weekend. Proximity to Cedar Point make it a perfect rental for anyone participating in or attending events like the ironman. Would definately go back!

Our stay at Doug's place on Lane D was nice. We all fit well in the house and it had everything we could need for our quick family get away. The views from the deck were great and watching nature wake up in the morning with us was so peaceful! The only complaint I had were the number of spiders we had to kill (inside the house). It kind of turned into a joke after the first dozen or so actually. The bug people did come & spray the outside of the house one morning, but they should definitely come back for the inside. I'd recommend this property though for sure!

Owner response: Being on fresh water brings beauty and bugs! We do try to address them with regular spraying. Unfortunately, due to the weather (frequent high winds and storms), the "bug man" was two weeks late with his monthly spraying. He is scheduled to spray at the beginning of each month, May through September. Due to health concerns such as allergies and asthma, we have to limit indoor spraying to stretches of time when vacationers aren't in the house for several days.

Another great weekend in Sandusky. This was our third year in renting from Doug. This is a perfect house for multiple families to enjoy time together. We had three couples with children & it was great. Awesome location to go to Kalahari & dinner back at the house. Everything we needed was there, very clean & comfortable. Already looking forward to next year.....

New Year's Day...sunny and no snow! Celebrate New Year's Eve weekend with my closest friends and once again, we enjoyed our stay here. People ask me all the time to recommend places in Ohio for a getaway weekend and I will gladly recommend this one. They would not be disappointed!

My friends and I have been renting vacation properties several times a year for the past 10+ years and we have always done so in another part of or out of the state. This was the first time we looked so close to Cleveland. So glad we found this place...the pics don't do the views justice! This home was immaculate, spacious and cozy at the same time! We had a ball and definitely intend to make another visit!

This spacious house was very well cleaned and maintained. There were so many supplies in the large kitchen--plenty of dishes and pots and pans. We were very pleased with the great room and were able to break into groups for games, cards and conversation. The kids room is so large. The kids played up there and their noise didn't bother us downstairs! We spent so much time over the weekend fishing that even we were surprised. We wish we would have had a little boat to put in the water. The sunsets there really are unbelievable. With the lake in the back yard and Cedar Point just up the street, it is a great location. We will rent this again!

This was a wonderful large home for our two families. It is on Sandusky Bay, a short block from Lake Erie, and near a wildlife preserve so we were able to enjoy watching a diverse variety of birds--we even saw a bald eagle. There is a boat ramp at the property where we dropped in our boat. And the proximity to Cedar Point made going back to the house for meals a breeze. The house itself has very large rooms. We especially enjoyed the open kitchen which adjoins both the great room and the immense deck. The kitchen is as well-stocked with supplies as my home. There were plenty of sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, and TP (unlike two previous places that I rented that didn't provide any paper products). The kitchen, baths, and floors sparkled. Thanks, Doug. We had a great time and will definitely rent from you again.

We stayed at this house in August 2011. Overall we were disappointed. First, we were surprised that it was not disclosed that the house is slanted. We were told that the foundation settled when it was first built and the owners say everything is stable now. Okay, but it would have been nice to know before renting. It took some of the guests a while to get over the vertigo feeling. The house also has an odd smell. A mix between diesel fuel and a musty smell. When we brought it to their attention because we thought something was wrong, we were told that is just how the house smells. Generally, the pictures do not represent how the house looks. The pictures make it appear like a gorgeous, nicely remodeled beach house that the owner would stay in himself. In fact, it is clearly a rental house and has a run down feel to it. Again, this may be okay for some but it was disappointing for us. Some of the sheets and towels are old and worn, and there were no hand towels. The master bedroom is huge but has no privacy because of the open window looking down to the living room. Sound caries both ways. The great part about the house is the location and the view. Those pictures are accurate. The kids had a great time fishing right by the house, and that was nice. It was also a great location for Cedar Point. However, we would not stay here again or recommend it to a friend. For the price you pay here, we expected a cleaner house with no odd smells, and linens of sufficient quality and quantity that one would have in their own home.

Once again we had a great weekend in Sandusky. This is our second year in renting from Doug. We had three family's in this house & it worked out great. It was a perfect place to stay & visit Kalahari Water-park. Kids & adults had a great time, & the house was perfect for our group. We also rented another property Doug owns just a few doors down to accommodate the rest of our group. It was great because we were close enough to all share a meal together Saturday night. Hope to be back again next year.

My sister and I rented this house for our families' summer vacation. The great room/kitchen/deck gave us so much room for visiting with each other. We were delighted with the house and amenities, but the huge deck overlooking Sandusky Bay and the most incredible sunsets imaginable--WOW! We plan to rent this house again in 2011.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed with Doug, and we haven't been disappointed. The house was roomy and comfortable, and had everything we needed. It had a backyard that the kids loved running on next to the water, and Doug's parents next door were nice enough to say the kids could run on their lawn as well. The master suite is huge, it does have an opening to the great room, so it is not the quietest place if anyone is downstairs in the great room. The kitchen is very well equipped with 2 dishwashers and 2 sinks, and there is a nice big grill on the deck. There is parking for 3 cars, but if you have more than 1 car you may have to move them from time to time if people want to use the boat ramp. We had to move them twice in a 4 day period, so we didn't feel it was a big deal. To get to Cedar Point, you just drive 4 miles down the road you are on, so very convenient to the park. We hope to come back next year.
