We had a wonderful week in this charming second floor of the owner's home. It was spacious for all four of us to enjoy and relax. What you see in the picture's is exactly what it is like. The pillowtop beds were wonderful, and we slept very well here. The deck off the master bedroon was a great spot to relax. The property is well maintained and they are truly lovely people. You can walk through the grounds of the beautiful St. George's School to get to 2nd beach, as long as you weren't taking a lot of beach equipment. We walked to Flo's and Rusty's for live music on Friday and Saturday night. We are returning next year, since it was just a perfect vacation for our family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This could not have been a better vacation. We were in town for our friend's wedding in Newport and upon arrival, we were greeted by our hosts who were friendly, but also respectful of our privacy, throughout the entire weekend. The place itself is incredibly clean and well decorated and provides great comfort. Additionally, the location is in a great spot with walking distance to the beach and several great bars and restaurants (be sure to check out Atlantic Grille for breakfast!) If this all wasn't enough, the place has a roof deck that you could sit on for days! Overall, a great value and somewhere I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to stay in again should I find myself in Newport.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our experience was stellar. The location was perfect for our time at the sea- the beach was lovely. The property exceeded expectations- immaculate, inviting, comfortable. We cooked in and found the kitchen well stocked with equipment, as well as the grill outdoors. Great lobsters from Anthony's. We enjoyed a star-lit evening on the upper deck. The landscaping was beautiful and our host so warm and accommodating. We are already booked for a repeat visit. Our warmest regards to our hosts and to future guests- this is a real gem!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Barbara and Ed, This place is great. Wake up to coffee and tea on the deck - head out to the many attractions in the area - end the day with a cocktail on the deck. We slept like babies lulled to sleep by the far off melodies of the fog horns. Thank you so much! You're great hosts.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Barb and Ed, You were great hosts and made us feel very comfortable while hurricane Irene was blowing trees and rain outside! We had a wonderful time on Third Beach - quiet - perfect for a baby. Your house is very cozy and child friendly. It was a breeze staying with a 19-month old. We could not have done this in a hotel. Did I mention that you provided coloring books? So very thoughtful of you. We hope to see you again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I was very pleased with this property for the following reasons: 1. Very clean and neat, fresh and airy. well maintained 2. Had everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. There is a notebook describing where everything is located so you do not have to search of things 3. Freindly, helpful hosts, who are defintiely dog friendly 4. Wonderful location, in a neighborhood very close to the beaches, cliff walk and Newport. 5 The photos and description of property are accurate 6 Definitely would stay here again I would recommend this property for families, couples, "girls traveling together". I have already told friends and family about this property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: My husband, Ed, and I presently reside north of Boston and can't wait to retire here in two or three years. We've been married 48 years. We have two children, six grandchildren, one great grandson and two Mini Schnauzers. I have a wonderful mother-in-law, who grew up in Newport and loves to spend time with us when she can.
Why the Owner Chose Middletown:
We have been vacationing in Newport for many years and decided it was time to purchase our own 'Seaside Escape' with the goal of retiring here. We spend all of our free time at our vacation home and thoroughly enjoy all that Newport has to offer. Our children and grandchildren enjoy Newport as much as we do, and we know we will have frequent visitors when we finally do retire!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This sunny apartment is close enough to walk, bike or ride to all of the wonderful activities in and around Newport, including both First and Second Beaches. Located next to St. George's School, this location offers an escape from the crowds and tourists at the end of the day. It has a beautiful yard our renters can enjoy for grilling and relaxing and a deck/balcony off the master bedroom.
