Beautiful Hand Built Log Cabin with Private Fishing

This is a beautiful hand-built log cabin. It is built of large cottonwood logs originating from the banks of the Big Hole river 20 miles from Silver Star. The logs are flattened on two sides with a chainsaw, and dove-tail notches are used on the corners to fit the logs in place. This cabin was hand built by the owner, Chip Ashcraft, who is a custom log cabin builder.
This cabin features a common sleeping area on the second floor with 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, and a single bed.
The cabin is located 400 feet off the county road nestled in a patch of trees, providing a very peaceful and private setting. The closest neighbors are deer and the occasional moose. It is within 5 minutes walking distance of Silver Star fishing access site on the Jefferson river, just downstream from the famous Big Hole, Beaverhead, and Ruby Rivers. It is about an hour's drive to the Madison river. We have private fishing (Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, etc.) in a spring creek on the ranch.
Clair and Doris Everson from Hayden Lake, Idaho, commented: "We came on "Roots" expedition with friends - a success! And we fell in love with the little cabin in the Montana Woods. Thank you for a wonderful quiet time".

Just got back from spending most of May at this wonderful spot. Had a great time and found this to be a great location to operate from to explore over a 100 miles of the Big Hole and Jefferson rivers. Quiet, secluded, and lots of wildlife. Look forward to going back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We would like to clarify that pets are only welcome if they are kept outside of the cabin, as some of our guests have pet allergies.

About the owner: Montana native Chip Ashcraft of Silver Star, Montana has been building log homes since 1986. He has built private residences from North Carolina to Montana using the traditional scribe fitted method in his building process. Each handcrafted log cabin is created from hand-peeled lodge pole pine or Douglas fir which is then individually scribed, notched, and then fitted into position. Each log home is unique in its construction and detail, unlike milled log homes.
