Please search Facebook for 'the Gunter's lake house' for more photos of the house.
The house is located right on the lake with 100 feet of shoreline. The boathouse was built by the owner, mostly on his own. It is two stories, with two boat slips (one open and available), large steps to the top level with no landings on the decking areas, providing plenty of open sunning/sitting areas.
The lower level is open so the beautiful views of the mountains and the water are unencumbered. There are ten Adirondack chairs on the boathouse for relaxing. The level lot between the lake and the house, along with a large, open lot just adjacent, provides plenty of room for the kids, and adults, to play.
We built the house in 1999 so it is relatively new compared to some of the historic houses on the lake. The house is just past the no wake zone, so there is minimal boat traffic which keeps the water relatively calm and allows swimmers to get out in the water, which is always cool and refreshing throughout the summer. The minimal boat traffic also keeps the motor noise to a minimum.
There is great fishing right off the boathouse or sea wall. There is off street parking for four to five cars. The front of the house faces the lake and has a large screened-in porch with a custom made adirondack two seater. The house is two stories with the master and its' accompanying full bathroom occupying most of the top floor. The bathroom has stone tile floors and a large glass block window.
There is a large armoire in the master that houses a 20' television and a night table on either side of the king sized bed. Also upstairs is a loft area with a reclining sofa, and a bonus room. We have two or three double sized air mattresses for the loft area and the bonus room, with several comforters and blankets to go around.
Downstairs are two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with a bunk bed with a trundle bed. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, dinnerware, etc. There is a laundry closet with both a washer and dryer and a full bath with a glass block window.
Most of the furniture in the house was built by the owner, including the armoire, tables, the adirondack on the porch, the coffee table, the kitchen table, the bunk bed with a trundle bed and the large under-the-stairs cabinet that has the tv, CD player, DVD player and three large drawers full of board games, and the butcher block on the kitchen island.
There are four or five waterfalls within hiking distance of the house, including Minihaha, Panther, and Angel Falls. The house is within walking distance of the Lake Rabun Beach area which has a sand beach, outdoor grills with picnic tables, and a boat put-in. There is horseback riding within a ten minute drive and many, many other opportunities for biking, walking, nature watching, etc. Or just relaxing.

We spent 5 wonderful days at the Gunter lakehouse for a family reunion. It is located in a beautiful area and the lakehouse was inviting and comfortable. The boat house is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee! It is in the perfect location with lots of hiking and points of interest nearby. The owner was able to assist us with canoe rentals - we can't wait for a return trip to GeorgiaRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent a fabulous weekend at the Gunter's wonderful lake house. The house is in the perfect location, very little lake traffic. It was so serene, and great to experience the quieter end of the lake. The house is on a level lot which makes it so easy. We are booking for our next trip! We can't wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at this house for our annual guys' weekend and it was fantastic. Well maintained with a beautiful view across the lake into the mountains, and very comfortable (the owner has good taste in music as well, there are CDs available in the house). For cyclists and runners, the main road outside the front is not busy at all and perfect for a ride or run as well.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a great family vacation at this lake house. The location was terrific. It was accessible by all paved roads, and parking was easy to get into and out of. It's only 25 minutes to the nearest grocery store (which is the closest of any of our stays on Lake Rabun/Lake Seed). The house is located on a quiet part of the lake so our young children didn't have to compete with heavy boat traffic while they swam. The boat house has both sunny and shady parts all day long. The house is a comfortable design for a family with separate spaces for everyone; it was nice having the master suite on a separate floor. The kitchen had everything we needed. The yard was beautiful and perfect for playing. The kids loved the bunk beds. We spent lots of quiet evenings on the porch watching fireflies. The local waterfalls were a joy and we'd really recommend that anyone visiting definitely check out Angel Falls. We hope to stay here again the next time we visit the North Georgia mountains.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

To celebrate my 50th birthday, this house was the perfect place for my family to gather together. There was something for everyone to do. Michael Crowe helped with a boat. The house & location were perfect. When my 3 year old great nephew walked in the house he said "this house smells good" and it did! Very clean.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here in August, 2011. The cabin was clean, beautiful, and everything it was described in the review. The woodwork in the home and boat house was magnificent. The boat house was a great place to enjoy dinner or watch the water, and there is a great porch for rainy days. We will stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Why the Owner Chose Lake Rabun:
We built the house on Lake Rabun because, well it is Lake Rabun. When you get here, you'll know exactly what I mean. And there are 8, 9 or 10 houses on the lake that very good friends of ours own, so when some boats full of folks wave at you when you're on the boathouse, chances are they are part of our Lake Rabun family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Relaxation, recreation, outdoor activities, relaxation, mountain views, relaxation.
