Everything we needed and more
Everything we needed and more
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Cuantica! The house is in a great spot with miles of beach right across the road. Having a kitchen was a nice change from eating out all the time. There are plenty of good restaurants in walking distance but are somewhat pricey (at least for the avg budget traveler). The house runs on solar and wind power and some gas for kitchen appliances so it carries a much smaller footprint than most the neighbors using diesel generators. Therefore it's quieter as well lending itself to better jungle sounds. Alex was friendly and helpful. He and his dive shop offered recommendations for restaurants and activities around town. We even signed up for a couple cave dives (highly recommended for the adventurous!). Can't wait to go back!

House and location were exactly as advertised (and bonus of working Wi-Fi that was not advertised). This is a beautiful, charming little house and definitely well-priced for the region. With the beach less than 5 minutes walking, this is the perfect location for somebody whose main goal in tulum is to lounge on the sand and swim in the ocean. The space is simple but very hospitable and we felt at home. The kitchen contains everything needed for cooking, stove, refrigerator and sink all worked flawlessly. The house is also very secure with strong locks on the outer gate and front door. Be warned that the restaurants in this area of Tulum (zona hotelera) are extremely expensive. So it is best to grocery shop in town (10 minutes and 80 pesos by taxi) at one of the large supermarkets and cook in the house. There are also several good and reasonably-priced restaurants in town (we recommend "El Camello", a seafood restaurant at the south end of town frequented by locals because of its fresh seafood and good prices) The owner, Alex, picked us up as soon as we arrived in Tulum and drove us to the house. He also arranged for a good price on a taxi to take us back to Cancun airport the morning of our flight. He is very friendly and definitely trustworthy.

My husband and I just came home from our amazing vacation in Tulum. We rented this house because of its proximity to the ocean and price. The ocean is across the street and it is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed long walks on the beach or lounging under a palm tree. Many times we found ourselves to be alone on the beach! Alex the owner of the house is very accurate in his description of the house and is a great guy. We went on 2 snorkeling trips (we are too wimpy for the scuba diving) with his dive shop and had a blast. The house was clean and comfortable and the simple kitchen provided a great place for me to practice my mexican culinary skills. One of the best things about this house is that "Lola" the dog lives there. We enjoyed having her welcome us home when we would go out and walking her on the beach at night. We rented bikes to get around Tulum, and took the ADO bus for longer trips. Most of our meals were prepared at the house as we found the restaurants near the beach to be a bit pricey. The house is powered by a windmill and solar panels that provided plenty of electricty and hot water for our simple needs. There is also wifi internet connection and an ipod docking station. Alex answered all of our questions and was full of useful information. This house is not a luxury villa, it is a simple and peaceful house in the "jungle". You will not find air-conditioning, ceiling fans, television or maid service. If you need that please stay in Cancun. I highly recommend this house and cannot wait to visit again. We came home relaxed, refreshed and completely in love with Mexico. PS Please give Lola a tortilla chip from us when you meet her.

Private, comfortable, affordable
Private, comfortable, affordable
Just returned from nine wonderful days at Casa Cuantica and we're already planning our return. The house is small and basic, but it had everything we needed: a comfortable bed, hot shower, bottled water, a coffee maker, even a very sweet dog to take for walks on the beach and keep an eye on the place. The area is very safe and convenient. We had a rental car, but we found that our favorite restaurants were walking distance from the house. Alex, the owner, was very helpful during our stay. He knows the area very well and can recommend activities and places to go. We were also impressed with his dive shop, Aquatic Tulum. If you're diving in Tulum, I highly recommend them. We were there in late December and we had no problem with bugs or heat, but I can imagine that might be a concern in the hotter months. We looked at other places we considered staying, and felt we made the right decision to stay at Casa Cuantica. It's cheaper and more private than any of the beach cabanas we looked at, and although it's not on the beach, it's literally less than a 1-minute walk to the beach. Having the kitchen also saved us a lot of money by allowing us to have coffee and cereal every morning, as well as sandwiches and other snacks when we came in from a day on the beach. All in all, it was the best Christmas ever and we can't wait to go back!

Tidy and private
Tidy and private
We spent 8 days in this little getaway and enjoyed the peace of a private lot under starry nights. With a full kitchen (double burners, fridge & utensils), 2 toilets, 2 showers, internet, satellite radio and occasionally working fan, we had all we needed. We avoided bringing a laptop but could have easily done so as it was a very safe and secure place to leave our valuables. Also it's totally off the grid with wind & solar powered electricity and a water tank. If you don't want to share your vacation with other tourists, this is the place for you. It was affordable and though off the beach, close enough to access every morning for a walk along the shore. You can walk to plenty of restaurants and with a car, access the nature reserve, town, the ruins and anywhere else your heart desires. Bring bug spray because the breeze doesn't reach the jungle as well as it does the beach and without air movement there seemed to be a big difference in the number of critters. Another great part of the house is the owner Alex who even helped us plan our trip with an insider's perspective on the area. If we had been able to scuba we would have definitely gone with his outfit, Acuatic Tulum. If you decide to go with this rental, you're getting a clean, neat little space of your own that reflects very similarly to the photos.
