Mountain Views, Easy Walk to Town-Santa Fe - $230/nt!
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
We walk to plaza whenever we can for dinner and it takes only ten minutes. Driving is a quick three minute experience. I work at Ski Santa Fe during the winter (basin) and it takes me 25 minutes to drive to work on clear roads.
This home was built in 1958 by my late father, Edward Quintana and many friends & family helped to complete the construction. It is a very special home - fully remodeled in 2009. While much of the furniture was hand-crafted in Chimayo, New Mexico in 1950, new pieces have been mixed in to provide a comfortable, welcoming stay. As well, much of the art throughout is provided by local artisans, past and present. The home is within a quiet, family oriented neighborhood that is amazingly close to all of the attractions that make Santa Fe so unique.
The neighborhood is located directly off Washington Avenue and is a nearby retreat from the bustle of downtown activity. Please click on the google map to see the area.
the home is near Artist Road and the Fort Marcy complex and is a free standing home with outdoor space and very quiet.
Keywords: Private Home at Washington Ave & Callecita near Fort Marcy Park. A real 1/2 mile from plaza, located at the top of a hill with scenic mountain views of the Jemez & Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Truly, this home is walking distance to fine restaurants, downtown shopping, galleries, and the convention center. Ride a clean Santa Fe Trails city bus to further destinations, or drive only 3 miles to Museum Hill, and for those athletes the Santa Fe Ski Basin is only 17 miles from the house. (Look for listing that actually has maps of area showing home location).

Our family enjoyed this property immensely. Nice central location with easy access to the best of Santa Fe. We enjoyed the nearby park as well to exercise both the kids and dog. It's very nice to cook your own meals and rent a dvd from the nearby dvd rental store.Recommended for: Families with young children.

I rented this house for the week of Spring Break 2012. It was our first trip to Santa Fe. We had five people in our party - me, my husband, my mother, and our three kids (7, 4, & 1). I expected this house to be nice based on prior reviews, and it was even better than expected. The house was immaculate, beautifully decorated and renovated, and had amazing views of the mountains from every room. It also had a small yard that my kids loved to play in, and a hill behind it that led us on a very nice nature walk and featured even more amazing mountain views. It was easy to walk from the house to the Plaza, and there is a playground/park on the way so the kids burned off energy there. The house was also very close to the road to the ski mountain (Artist Rd.), which was handy as we took the kids up to a snowy area there to play and sled. As for amenities, there is a flatscreen TV (with cable) above the fireplace in the living room, a dishwasher, nice frig, microwave, coffee maker, and gas stove (and cooking equipment) in the kitchen, and a HE washer/dryer in the bathroom. The owners, Chris and Joseph, were very nice and accommodating and Chris was quite helpful when we locked ourselves out of the house one of the nights we were there (they live in an apartment below the rental house so they are very close by if there is a problem). Another thing to note is the very affordable price - we felt like we were getting a steal compared to what the surrounding hotels (with much less room and less amenities) were offering. We loved Santa Fe and this house and I recommend both highly!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: both of us are happy that your stay was great, thanks for the review. please contact us for your next visit to Santa Fe! Chris & Joseph

My husband and I (and our dog) stayed here for a relaxing vacation this winter, and we could not have been happier with our stay! We've used VRBO before with mixed results (one terrible experience with a neurotic homeowner in Malibu who dropped in on us daily), but this was definitely a four-star experience! Private, situated in a gorgeous neighborhood a short walk from the main drag, the house is modern, clean, has a *great* bathroom and tub and very nicely furnished and decorated with local art and mid-century furniture. We couldn't have been happier! Nice, cool owners who obviously know what they're doing. We had a problem with a breaker needing to be re-set and they fixed it right away. We'll definitely be back if/when we're in Santa Fe again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed for 3 nights in April 2011 with our teenage daughter. Everything was as nice or better than the photos. Quality furnishings and linens, gourmet kitchen appliances and cookware, very tasteful interiors. Everything clean and luxurious like a full-service hotel. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants but in a quiet neighborhood. Only a short drive to excellent grocery stores. And Joseph is a gracious, helpful host. We definitely recommend this house and location.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

The owners were family and dog friendly & the house was very clean and modern with great amenities! Our party consisted of two couples, two one year-olds, and two dogs... and it worked out great. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking many meals and there was plenty of space for playing and hanging out. The neighborhood was quaint and quiet and only a short walk to downtown (even closer to the gelato/espresso shop - yum!). It was about a 30 minute drive to Santa Fe Mountain.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We spent Thanksgiving 2010 in Santa Fe in this lovely home. It had everything you can ask for ~ even a bottle of wine waiting. The location was a perfect distance from the plaza. The view from the home was nice and we especially enjoyed the quietness of the area. Since the weather was quite cool, we so enjoyed the fireplace every day. It was so nice to have firewood stacked. Everything about this home was wonderful! We would love to stay again when we return to Sana Fe. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We couldn't have been more pleased with this house! It was a great size, in a wonderful neighborhood, awesome view, and very clean! It was indeed only about a 10-15 minute walk to the Santa Fe Plaza, and we also drove to Albuquerque while we were there, and it was about 50 minutes. I don't think you could get a nicer place for the price. When we go back to Santa Fe, we will definetely want to stay here again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

I just finished a fantastic two-month stay in this wonderful Santa Fe home. The location is perfect... close to downtown yet completely quiet. The house is nestled on a quite block and the view of the mountains and the sunset is incredible. The house is extremely well kept and the owners have impeccable taste. Since I was in the house for most of the summer, I can report that the kitchen is fantastic (brand new!), the beds are all comfortable, the TV is huge (for rainy days!), and the house feels like an all-around home away from home, without the clutter and too-personal stuff so many renters leave lying around. I was very happy there and I would rent the house again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
I decided to return to Santa Fe to take care of my aging parents in 2005, and wanted to move back into my childhood home. This home has strong bones, but it had been a rental property since the mid-seventies and was in need of a serious upgrade. In 2007 I began to make plans to remodel the entire upstairs.
Shortly after, Joseph Charles joined my family and blessed the project with his eye for design and we began the challenging task ahead.
Initially we planned to redesign the upstairs living area for my elder Mom. We wanted a space with lots of natural light and warm and inviting rooms that would also be ADA compliant.
This vacation rental incorporates a lot of art from local artists, including carvings from Ben
Ortega, paintings from Vallie Weingarten, Sebastian Picker, and water colors by Ann Marie Trapp. One stay and your too will appreciate the wonderful aspects that this special Santa Fe home has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home is very close to the Ski Santa Fe for winter fun and close to the Plaza for events such as Indian Market, Spanish Market and many other festivals that take place downtown. My vacation rentals say 'close to plaza,' but after a quick map search, you will find that the house is truly less than 1 mile away. This home offers the perfect blend of nearby activity with peaceful surroundings.
