Ship 2 Shore is an extraordinary beach house! It sits directly on the white sandy Gulf beach. Expansive water views from every room in the home, including all of the 6 bedrooms.

Our spectacular home was recently remodeled and redecorated, with an eye to creating a casual seaside atmosphere. Located in the exclusive section of The Point where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Bay, this is one of the few homes privileged to have the pristine sand beaches of the Gulf in the backyard and the cyrstal blue waters of the Bay in the front yard.

Perfect for any occasion, this extra-special, two story beach house boasts 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 kitchens, spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, and breathtaking views of the Gulf and Bay from every room.

We are proud that everyone refers to our home, as the nicest beach house on The Point.

4 sets of french doors open to the gulf, immaculate heart pine floors throughout. Hotel quality linens and down pillows on every bed. Not a detail was overlooked.

It's a very special place.....

Our 4800sf home lays out as follows:
Upstairs:

Master bedroom (captains quarters) has a king bed, private bath, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with unimaginable gulf frontage and windows with views of the bay. Fall asleep listening the the waves lapping on the beach.

Admirals Quarters has a queen bed, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with the same gulf frontage as the Master, windows with views of the bay.

Skippers Quarters has a queen bed, amazing views of both the gulf and the bay.

Artwork in the Admirals and Skippers Quarters was commissioned by local artists.

Crews Quarters has 2 twin beds, set in bahama style with a custom built table between. Breathtaking views of the gulf and the bay.

Living room has overstuffed down filled furniture, complimented with nautical theme decorations, mosaic glass tile fireplace, sea glass, mahogany ship wheel, oars, etc. Despite the upscale quality of the furnishings and artwork - our home has conquered the challenge of retaining the coveted 'beach house' feel. Very inviting, casual and extremely comfortable.

The dining room is comprised of a heart pine table and 8 chairs. The kitchen bar seats 4. As most meals are served family style, on the Gulf Porch, there is a brand new teak table, which seats 12 comfortably.

The kitchen has everything, pans of every dimension, crab/lobster pots, roasting pans, poultry racks, crock pots, blenders, cast iron skillets, warming trays, all hand tools and even.....a stick blender. Bosch expresso/cappucino maker accepts Tassimo pods.

On the Bay side of the house, we have a large covered porch (25'x25') Patio furniture surrounding a marble mosaic table. High end propane grill with convenient fold out stainless prep table.

The Gulf Porch is covered and screened, it is 48' x 12'. Long teak dining table, 5 rocking chairs, a teak couch w/ teak occasional tables, and ..... everyone's favorite.... the 2 person quilted hammock. This porch is everyone's favorite place to hang out.

Just off the Gulf Porch is what we call the 'Sunset Deck'. Some call it the 'Sun Bathing Porch', and my kid's call it the 'Dolphin Watching Porch'. My favorite place to watch the stars at night. For your viewing pleasure, we have a high powered telescope.

Schools of dolphin swim by at least 2 times per day - and occasionally you will find them swimming around the dock.

We achieved our goal of creating the 'feel' of the downstairs to be ''ole Florida rambling beach house'. It has 2 bedrooms/1 bath, a morning kitchen, a living room and a ping-pong table. It lays out as follows....

The Beach Room has a full size bed and eye level views of the beach.

The Bunk room (Pirates Quarters) has 1 set of bunk beds (2 twins stacked). We built the room so the little tikes in the bunk beds could fall asleep watching the stars.

The downstairs is beach level :) Designed so that beach-goers can come in and out with ease. The floors are beach proof! (no sand or water worries)

There is a morning kitchen downstairs, with a fridge/ice maker, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, etc.

Beach-goers can walk right in from the beach grab a beverarge, make a cocktail or sandwich, go to the bathroom--- all without going upstairs.

There is yet another covered porch downstairs, with a teak table that seats at least 10, a teak porch swing and a covered sand play area - which is great for when the kids have had too much sun.

Downstairs living room has 2 sofas with cushioned wicker chairs, atop jute carpets. A side of the living room is the ping-pong area, with a full size regulation table.

What key features make our beach house stand out among the others??????

Guests may fish/crab from the 300’ private dock or tie your boat off to the anchor buoy located adjacent to the dock.

Elevation - Our 'upstairs' is just 13 stairs from the sand to our home. And our 'downstairs' is ground level. Most of the neighboring beach rentals are 25 feet in the air - that is approximately 33 stairs to climb. Going to the beach should not be an aerobic event.

Elevator - I learned this lesson when I rented my first beach house. I spent hours lugging suitcases, groceries, coolers, baggage, parents and kids up 2 flights of stairs! With an elevator, just load 'em all in the elevator and press UP!

Boardwalk to Beach - many beach houses just have a beaten path over the dunes, which can be difficult. We have a wide boardwalk directly to the sand - keeping bare feet safe all the way to the beach.

Covered Porches - Expansive covered porches on both watersides of our home make for a comfortable reprise from the sun.

If you're looking for the 'home away from home' vacation, and you want it to be simple and carefree- our home is for you.

Beach towels, hair dryers in each bathroom, household/laundry products included.

Our extended family wanted a beach vacation without the usual tourist area distractions. Ship2Shore was the perfect place. The rental process was facilitated by the gracious owners who responded to any questions or concerns immediately (fresh flowers on arrival- WOW!) The house is as lovely as described. It is hard to imagine how the plush accommodations were combined with such durability. The large open spaces provided ample space for our family to gather for meals and games. Dolphins, pelicans, fishermen, and incredible numbers of seashells were the only distractions we needed. We did find ourselves making reservations for the hammock for afternoon naps! Our entire family is already campaigning for an annual beach trip to Ship2Shore!

Owner response: Sounds like I need to get a few more hammocks :) I'll be hard pressed to find as perfect a location to place them. You are welcome back anytime. Thanks for leaving our home immaculate.

Every year my extended family, mother and sisters family, go on spring break in Florida. We usually stay down in Anna Maria but found it booked for Easter week this year. It was actually fortunate that it was. The location on Alligator point was ideal. Usually we feel pressure to get out and go find things to do. The peaceful setting right on the Gulf had us wanting to do no more than walk out the front door and enjoy hanging on what felt like our own private beach. Even our teenage kids when asked didn't really want to go anywhere else (which is unusual). Between hanging on the beach on one side of the property and fishing off the private warf on the other side it was truly a relaxing week. The house fit the 11 of us perfectly. Our 4 teenaged boys took the 2 downstairs bedrooms and it felt to them like they had their own place. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. For any type of family gathering Ship 2 shore is ideal.

This was the perfect location and property for my husband and I to celebrate Thanksgiving with our children and grandchildren. We all live in different parts of the country, and Alligator Point is easily accessible from the airport at Tallahassee. The owners have thought of everything! The house is very livable and extremely well stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve a giant Thanksgiving feast. The layout of the rooms and porches is conducive to time together but also privacy when desired. For us, the ping pong table was the ultimate bonus because our family has a 16-year tradition of playing a very competitive annual ping pong tournament with the two losers doing the Thanksgiving dishes. The house was very clean and inviting when we arrived with views to the bay and gulf encouraging our group to test the water immediately. The only negative issue we experienced was the presence of nasty burrs in the vegetation. It’s important not to stray from the boardwalk to the shore because the burrs will stick to shoes and can be unknowingly tracked into the house and onto the carpets where they are painful to bare feet. Once this is learned, the burrs can be avoided. We are all very grateful for the opportunity to enjoy our vacation at Ship 2 Shore this year and hope to be able to return.

Owner response: Mary - How sweet! Your kind words are much appreciated. I knew that you would write a comment, but I was sure it would include that you were ready to pack the car FULL of kitchen tools - until I called you :) and went over the kitchen inventory with you. LOL! :) I knew you were the kind of gal that needed to hear from me personally - that we had every single item in that kithen to cook a full blown turkey dinner for a crowd. I am so happy hear that everything went your way. ALL MY BEST. Thanks for taking care of our home - ya'll are welcome back anytime!

First of all, the owner of the home is a dream to work with. We were initially booked to stay in October but due to a family illness had to postpone. Linda's reponse? "Don't worry about it, let me know when you can make it, just give me a few days notice". No time limit, no penalties--just "take care of your dad". Panacea is a quiet community with few tourists. There are no highrises on the beach, just homes. Some homes are old and run down, some are gorgeous. This is one of the gorgeous ones. Ship 2 Shore is the ONLY home I've ever rented where I looked around and thought "you know, I could live in this house". Heart pine floors, custom (gorgeous) wall finishes, beautiful artwork (loved the nautilus), unique furnishings (antique carved table with marble top, rustic red console, sea glass tiled remote controlled fireplace) and every kitchen amenity you would ever need ( I wanted to "borrow" the deep dish iron skillet but stopped myself). For the first time ever, we brought our sheltie Lily who became a completely different animal. She has never seen the beach and one of my biggest pleasures was watching this old dog running up and down the beach with such joy. Note: There are burrs! Once you get there you can easily avoid them by not venturing off the boardwalk, and letting your pet do their business in the closely mowed lawn area. I bought Lily some baby booties and doggy long john PJ's to wear to keep the burrs out of her hair and feet but after the second day she didn't need them anymore because she had learned how to avoid them. The home has a godsend elevator that works perfectly, an ENORMOUS gas grill on the front upper porch (which has a tin roof and was wonderful during the rain), another ENORMOUS screened back porch where my husband napped in the hammock every day, a private pier on the bay, and on and on and on. All bedrooms are furnished beautifully with handpainted touches on the walls and downstairs has bedrooms, den and another kitchen. The house is huge, but you don't even notice it until you just keep finding more rooms! Only my husband and I were there so I never even went downstairs but his father came to visit and they went downstairs and watched sports in their own private "man cave". Hysterical. We saw dolphins every single day, played in the tidal pools, found a beached starfish and put it back in the water and played boardgames for the first time in 12 years. Ship 2 Shore: A restful, peaceful sanctuary.

We are experienced vrbo-ers. We've rented luxury properties from Corolla NC to South Padre Island TX, Savannah GA, Hilton Head SC, St. Simons Island GA and many spots in between. None matched the beauty and privacy of Ship2Shore. The home's amenities are top drawer but most of all it feels like your home from minute you enter. Most homes are stuffy and formal or ill equipped, this house has everything you need and WANT. Immaculate and comfortably elegant. The ocean and the bay are all you see, more water than a cruise ship! We were there for several weeks and could count the number of cars we saw on one hand. From the beautiful sun rises to the midday 'porpoise' shows to the spectacular sunsets this place is a stunner. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back.

Our family has been coming to The Point for 2 decades. This year, all of our children, their spouses and our grandchildren were able to come, so we needed a large beach house to accommodate everyone. We found the perfect beach house in Ship 2 Shore. It is absolutely magnificent. Breathtaking views of the ocean and the bay from everywhere. Furnishings are outstanding; there is comfort everywhere. Tasteful beach elegance. It has everything you could possibly think of, not a detail was overlooked. This is a real stand out. Never again will we settle for less than the best. There is only beach house for us from now on - and that is Ship 2 Shore!! I recommend it wholeheartedly!

About the owner: With the exception of a few goals I consider myself world traveled. Last trip was to Russia, Estonia, Sweden and Denmark. Next trip is to Iceland. (Can't wait - thus the late summer discounts :) Travel well, always have fun!

Why the Owner Chose Alligator Point:
When the decision was made to purchase a beach house, I drove every beach front property from Shell Point Florida to Gulf Shores Alabama. I chose Alligator Point first and then I chose this home. The closest public access is several miles down the beach, so there are never any strangers or crowds on our beach. That's important to me. I prefer to hear the dolphins breathing and the seagulls chirping, as opposed to chatter from beach combers. With the home came an unexpected delightful bonus.... It is the only place on the earth (that I have ever been), where you can watch the sunrise and sunset from the same porch. This beach house gives me peace, calms the soul.
