Thank you so much for accomodating our large group. We spent hours looking for a place to hold our growing family, and I'm glad that I finally stumbled across this site. What we liked: Lots of space, the loft upstairs was perfect for the kids, each room had a flat screen tv and my teens love electronics. We loved to be able to watch the kids play on the beach, while we were relaxing on the patio. What we didn't like: We were a little disappointed that the pool was not open on the weekend. I know that it's November, but it would have been nice to use. I was told that they had to do some maintenance, so I do understand. We were able to walk right outside and use the beach though...and that worked out great! We will be back. Thanks for the basket of goodies upon our arrival.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Hi Lisa, I do appreciate your feedback. I do apologize the pool was not open this past November. They should be open back up around March...and it's a great pool to use. They do have tennis courts, fishing pier, and restaurant that stays open during the offseason. I hope to see you back next year!

Great Way To End The Summer

Thank you so much for accommodating our large group of family and friends! We really enjoyed everything that Galveston and Sea Isle had to offer. I enjoyed being right on the beach as well as having the neighborhood amenities so close by. I do wish the pool had a few extra umbrellas, so I would recommend having your guests bring those on their trip. I did notice that all of the bedding was new, so thanks for providing that. I would upgrade the TV and the 3rd guest bedroom since it does seem outdated. The TV's in all of the other rooms were great, especially the big TV in the livingroom. All in all it was a great vacation, and we will definitely be back!

I wish the previous review was posted prior to our renting this house. In July 2012 we rented a VRBO listed beach house in Pensacola, FL for approximately the same price as this house. The Pensacola house WAS beachfront, immaculately clean, top appliances and kitchen items, beautifully furnished and decorated, etc. Our expecations for this Galveston house was that it would be comparable in furnishings, cleanliness and upkeep. However when we arrived on August 19, 2012, we were terribly disappointed with the Galveston property. Everything the previous review posted was how we also found this house. Regardles of the fact that there is a vacant lot in front of the house, does NOT make it beachfront. The house was not maintained and needs a major cleaning. The slip covers on the living room furniture did not fit and it was obvious they had not been washed recently. The master bedroom sheets on the bed were torn and towels were very stained or dirty -- some in the "clean towel" basked were soured. The master bed comforter was dirty and we never used it on the bed. The washer and dryer were filthy! We had ants in the master bathroom and kitchen, and roaches in one of the other bedrooms. The kitchen is very small and is not furnished adequately with dishes, glasses or silverware. The refrigerator was very small. There is no "communal pool" as shown on the VRBO listing. The pictures on the website do not reflect this house in its current state and its amenities. Compared to the beach house we rented on the popular Pensacola Beach , this house is way over priced. We rented the house beginning on Sunday and checking out on Saturday, but we left on Friday.

Owner response: Hello guys, thanks for providing your feedback from your stay a few months back. Since then we have purchased new bedding for all of the rooms. After being used every day during the summer, it looks like it took a toll on the bedding. New towels, linens etc were also purchased during the last month! As mentioned above, we also added new small appliances, dishes etc in the kitchen. We also added more plastic dishes this time around, since the glass seems to get broke! During the next few weeks were also also going to repaint the livingroom and replace some bedroom doors. I will take updated pictures once this is done. Yes, we do have an open lot in front of us, which makes this beach front. The main picture is taken off the front balcony. You will be hardpressed to find a beachfront house that sleeps 18 in this price range. The community pool is just a half a mile down the road. It's in Sea Isle, and if you could not locate it I wish you would have given me a call. It's just right down the street. It is a great pool so I'm sorry you could not enjoy it. Next to the pool are the tennis courts, West End Restaurant, fishing pier etc. It really is a great place for the kids and family.

Disappointing week

Frequent renter through vrbo and west beach loyalist. This house needs major attention. First, it is not a true beachfront house...it is a 2nd row house where the house in front has been torn down. There are houses to the front left and front right and you have to cross an empty overgrown lot to get to the beach. Additionally, it needs a thorough cleaning - deep cleaning - curtains taken down and washed, baseboards dusted and washed, bedroom carpets cleaned, layers of dust vacuumed off lamp shades, window ledges, etc. Kitchen needs new toaster, handles on drawers replaced, leaking faucets upstairs, downstairs shower leaked (created constant mold slick on concrete slab) and the roach infestation needs to be handled. We found them hanging on curtains, crawling on the floor and one rummaging through our coffee creamer bowl. The front door leaked during the rains and our kiddos slipped and fell on the tile by the door. I could list other items, but suffice it to say that we would not recommend this house nor rent it again. Speak privately to the owner to make sure these have been addressed before renting. Based on our prior rentals, we feel like this house was way overpriced for it's placement and quality.

Owner response: Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We spoke about your concerns a few months back and all of these issues were able to get resolved. Here's an update: We bought a new toaster, coffee pot, blender, comforter sets and sheets and a few other small decorative upgrades. The outside shower leak was an easy fix as well as screwing in the handles that were torn off the drawers. We had Ricos Pest Company come out for their quarterly visit and there have not been any sign of roaches in the last 2 months. There next visit is at the end of this month. We are now working with Kleen Sweep, which is the largest cleaning service on the west end. We have not had any cleaning complaints since your visit, and we expect that same level of service going forward. The house is on the 2nd row, but it is beachfront since their is no house directly in front of us. It is an empty lot and provides great protection from erosion. The main picture on this page is taken directly from our front patio to show the unobstructed view. We also mention this in our listing. We do have a few other upgrades planned for this year: New tile in the kitchen and bathrooms and small flatscreens in the guest bedrooms.

Galveston Beach Fun!

We have a very large, extended family so we decided to rent 2 beach houses in Galveston this summer. We are very happy with our choice and we would definitely rent this property again! It has 4 bedrooms, lots of room and a great location. It worked well for our family gathering, and we needed the extra space. Our only problem was the 100 degree heat, but that is about the only thing we would change. They did have a nice table/chairs on the balcony and also a picnic table under the house, which was shaded. That made it easy to watch the kiddos on the beach while we were grilling. Thanks for a great and memorable vacation!

I really enjoyed our family vacation at this property it was a real treat to be footsteps away from the beach, their was so much room for all our family, the beds were clean and we loved the washer and dryer on site, can't wait for next year we highly recomend this property ..

Nice Beach House, Great Views

We just returned from our first family vacation to Galveston. We have a family of 16, which made it very difficult to find a beachfront location to accommodate our ever increasingly large family. We chose this property because it's on the beach, relatively inexpensive and was very spacious. The house was also in good shape. The owner had a nice flat-screen tv in the living room and all the amenities you would expect to find in your house. The ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms was not working, but he did bring over a tower fan to help out...which it did. He also had left a bottle of wine, which was a nice touch. For the price, this property will be hard to beat. It's not a 5 star resort, but it did satisfy our family! Overall, we had a great time. The kids enjoyed being right on the beach and we enjoyed being able to watch them from the front patio. We will return again.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Poorly Maintained, Animal Feces Under Bed, Will Not Return

I agree with Susan from Austin that the property was poorly maintained. The grass had not been mowed, there was broken glass under the home, thick dust on ceiling fans, food particles and human hair on the couch slip cover in the living room, a large wad of human hair next to the toilet upstairs, animal chew sticks in the side of a matress and chair, and animal feces under the bed. My son left the cord to his computer in the home and I was notified it would cost $20 for it to be shipped to me regardless of the cost of the item being shipped since the maid would have to drive to the post office and stand in line. I chose to buy a new cord instead. I cannot recommend this property and will not stay at any properties owned by this individual.

I was very concerned with your description on the cleaning and there lack of attention to detail. I spoke to Sea Isle's maid service and they assured me it would not happen again. We do not allow pets at the property, which is another concern! Sorry about the broken glass left by the previous renters. The lawn guy used to come every 2 weeks, but we have since moved it to weekly for the rest of the summer.

Perfect Family Vacation

We loved, loved, loved this property! We needed a property on the beach, close to the water, with enough size to sleep our entire family....and that's what we found. The house was also tastefully decorated w/ all the upgrades that we have at home. The kids loved the TV area upstairs! Thanks again for helping create some wonderful memories!

Great Family Vacation

We decided to do things a little different this year and planned a family vacation in Galveston....we couldn't have been more happy! The house was large enough for 2 families and they had plenty of room upstairs for the kids to play and be entertained. The beach is just a few steps out the front door, which was nice so we could keep an eye on the kids. We will definitely be back, thanks again for the memories.

Our family stayed at this beach house during the first week of March and we had a wonderful time! The weather was great, which certainly helped. The house is stocked w/ all the major conveniences you have at home, plus the beach is just steps away. Thanks for making this such a great vacation. We will be back!

My family and I spent 1 week at this lovely beach house in December. The location was perfect, right on the beach! We had tremendous sunrises in the morning and the fishing was superb. We have a large family and the upstairs bedroom and loft area worked great for the kids. We enjoyed the flat screen tv in the living room, we only wish they had a few more dvd's in their collection. Overall, we loved the property and we will definitely be back!

The house was exactly what we wanted. The upper deck is great for the kids to enjoy while the lower deck was just what the adults ordered. Beach front access. Neighbors very friendly. Easy to find. FUlly stocked kitchen and the linens on the beds were sooo comfortable. Great weekend stay.

We were very satisfied with this house for the price. It is large enough to accomodate several families. The children loved the large upstairs loft. It had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. Our only complaint was that the downstairs area didn't cool very well. We enjoyed our stay here, and would stay again.

This was a great vacation spot right on the beach, lots of sun, swimming, fishing the sunrises were the best. The home was very well contained, the loft was perfect for the kids and the adults had lots of room downstairs, I can't wait to go back and bring more family members.

Dirty and poorly-maintained house

House had broken dining chair, chipped dishes, broken bathroom drawer, broken/missing refrigerator shelves,window blind that fell down, plumbing problem, stained and torn upholstery upstairs and down, and was missing needed light bulbs. Dust was thick on light fixtures, blinds, shelves, etc. Needs deep cleaning and lots of interior repairs! 1 bedroom gets a lot of street noise at night. Access to and view of beach were adequate. Sent manager an email about these problems after our return and have not received apology or acknowledgment. We definitely cannot recommend this property in this condition.

Owner response: The property is under new management and all of the above items have been repaired. Since 2010 we have added new patio furniture, couches, upgraded flat screen televisions, dishes, utensils, new refrigerator, A/C unit and mini-blinds (can send pics upon request). I will post several reviews from guests that stayed at the property since.
