This is an unique home that is located on 59 acres of land. It has been in the same family for generations and was first used as a summer home and then winterized about 40 years ago.
The large wrap around porch has an amazing view of the White Mountains and you can sit there for hours just listening to the stream - looking out at the mountains. One of the wonderful features about this home is that you are completely surrounded by nature while you are there but just a few minutes away you have great restaurants, shopping, golf, skiing and one of the best Farmer's Markets in the area to do your food shopping. As well nearby is the Village of Barnard where there is a State Park on Silver Lake. And there is The Barnard General Store for a great breakfast! Max's Tavern at the Barnard Inn is a wonderful place to have dinner they also have a formal Dining room.The house is comfortable and cozy for two or 14. During the winter months 4 wheel or all wheel drive is needed to get to the house.
First floor: The first floor has a Master bedroom with a full bath and there is an adjoining bedroom with two twin beds, called the 'toe to toe' room. Off these rooms is the large Living room with lots of comfortable places to curl up in front of the fireplace. It has two large window seats, couch, chaise lounge, rocking chair, etc. The next room used to be the formal Dinning room but is now the Family/TV room, it too has lots of seating space, with another fireplace. Then there is the eat in Kitchen that is fully equipped and has a table that can seat 10+. There is a shed off the kitchen that has a BBQ grill. You are totally under cover while at the grill.
On the second floor there are three Bedrooms with Queen size beds and three Bathrooms. One being a suite with it's own bath. One has an open room just off it with a child's bed. Then there is the Nursery with two twin beds and another bedroom with twin beds. The upper bathrooms have old claw foot tubes with hand held showers. We are working on getting a real shower installed upstairs. All bedrooms are nicely decorated, and have lots of closet space. Also on the the second floor is the laundry room. The house is like stepping back into a time less complicated but with all the modern comforts. It is the perfect place to spend time with your family and friends in a relaxed environment.
Caretakers live on the road and are available if needed.
At one time this whole road was owned by family members. They all came here to get away for the summers in beautiful Vermont. There is a private 100 year old Fishing club at the end of the dead end road. This is a true family place. Lots of room to all be together and room to be off on your own. The Appalachian Trail is with in walking distance and off that is a great hike up to Lucy's Lookout where you get a 360 degree view of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Red Top was wonderful. The weather was beautiful and our extended family had a great time reconnecting and relaxing. The home was so well equipped we couldn't believe it. Everything was perfect. We would love to return and are already looking for a reason to go back to Vermont. The Agent Lealey was waiting for us when we arrived and had everything set up for us. We stayed at Red Top over the holiday and it was wonderful. A beautiful home that was incredibly prepared for our stay. The proprietors did so much to make our stay memorable. This included taking us out to cut down a Christmas tree, finding sleds when the snow came, and having firewood cut and ready to go. It was really the quintessential Vermont vacation. Wow! What an amazing winter-time getaway! We spent a lovely snowy week at 'Red Top' with two couples and children from baby to teen.. They all had such a wonderful time, there is ample space for indoor activities (puzzles, toys, movies etc).. And having 2 fire places was really nice, to be able to spread out & still be cozy fire-side! The sledding down the bill in back was amazing, the kids all spent lots of time out in the snow playing. The rooms are all lovely & well cared for, it's hard to decide which one to choose, they are all so clean & beautiful! It does get cool upstairs, but each bedroom has a cozy heater with a faux-fire that keeps things nice & toasty. The kitchen is big and has a great big table to feed a big group.. Any questions or concerns were quickly answered by the caretakers, who we wanted to adopt into our family! We spent two weeks in this beautiful home: the rooms are large and comfortable with the right mix of historic detail and modern comforts. We did a lot of cooking, and the kitchen is spacious and light-filled and has a large table for eating. There is a small porch off the kitchen where we enjoyed a cup of tea or breakfast to start the day. The main porch in the front became a true living space for us: there is a table there for al fresco dinners, cushioned chairs for enjoying the view, and a hammock: on rainy days, we still felt like we could enjoy the scenery! 13 of us spent the most wonderful Christmas week imaginable at Red Top. The house has everything two large families could possibly need. Moreover, the warmth of reception from Lesley and Kevin meant that we even had a few items covered we'd never have even thought of. And then, contrary to all the long-range forecasts, it snowed on our first night and the home from home became a magical winter wonderland. We all enjoyed ourselves so much that several of the children were in tears as we left. Thank you to the owners and to Lesley for making the trip from London so worthwhile. Our family (10 people) stayed in this lovely home for a November weekend to attend a wedding in nearby Woodstock. The photos on this site only give a glimpse of the beautiful rooms, spaciousness and charm of the house. We arrived to gently falling snowflakes which eventually gave way to a more steady snowfall, but we were cozy inside with fires blazing in the two fireplaces. The snow gradually disappeared the next day and various people enjoyed a trip to the shops of Woodstock, a walk up the road or just relaxing in the house. The views of the mountains are beautiful, all of the rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated, the bathrooms are quaint and well stocked as is the large kitchen. All linens were clean and plentiful.The wrap around porch would be perfect for a summer evening but we managed to enjoy it for a short time in the November sun. This house is a great get away place for a group of family and/or friends, with a kitchen supplied to cook for a crowd. With so many nearby attractions, adults and children can find plenty to do, from shopping to hiking, skiing and more. Don't hesitate to bring your family and friends here, they will love it!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

The matriarch from CT, is now alone with the exception of her man, and is very sad that this lovely house will be alone soon. This welcoming, charming,comfortable accepting home should always ring with the laughter and song, my beautiful family and friends brought to it this past week. Beautiful home, amazing views, wonderful wraparound porch with hummingbirds drinking at the feeders! Lovely spot with a stream, stone walls, hiking trails and a farm at the bottom of the hill.
