  An excellent value location in Ottawa with easy access to all the major tourist areas, walking distance to the Byward Market, quite spacious and well decorated. We would certainly stay there again on a return trip the capital city. The property is a 3 story townhouse with 1 unit on the ground floor and this unit consisting of the 2nd and 3rd floors. On the main (2nd floor) there is a very generous sized TV and sitting room, a nice deck with a barbeque, a good sized dining room with comfortable seating, and a kitchen with a breakfast eating area. Upstairs (3rd floor), there are two very well sized bedrooms, lots of closet space and two full bathrooms (both three piece - one has a shower stall and the other a combined tub and shower). The neighbourhood is quiet for an urban area and there is easy walking distance access to a bakery, a full service grocery store (loblaws) and bus routes. It was always an easy drive to get to all the museums and other tourist attractions on our list of things to do. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a garage with room for a sedan and then a parking space outside so if both units are occupied, there could be some car jockeying required or one of the cars would have to be parked on the street (no big deal outside of winter but could be a winter issue). The laundry set-up works well - on the ground floor in the common entrance area (remember there are 2 units) is the entrance to the laundry room which is also well kept and functional. The unit is well kept, pride of ownership is clear and everything was well organized. I agree that the listing is accurate and that the reviews have been generally fair and representative of the property.

  My wife and I spent a delightful week at this condo. Just as described, it was only a 10 minute walk to the ByWard Market and only slightly further to Parliament Hill. We had another couple visit for two nights and they were both impressed with how nicely decorated the place was, and with two bedrooms with king size beds, it couldn't have been more comfortable. Ottawa is great city to explore and this condo was the ideal location to use as home base. We will definitely be returning to Ottawa in the future and would absolutely hope to book this location for our stay. Thank you, Linda.

  Linda, just like last time, we loved the apartment! It was just as we remembered it from last year, fantastic location, clean, comfortable, bright and relaxing. We had a great time in the Bi Ward Market area, exploring the shops, visiting the parliament buildings and the Art Gallery. Although we brought our car, we left it parked in the driveway and walked almost everywhere. We will be back again next year.

  My husband and I stayed at this Ottawa property for five nights in September, 2011. The owner correctly trumpets its central location, particularly the proximity to the Byward Market. What isn't mentioned is the greater proximity to what may generously be described as the 'seedier' side of town. Homeless shelters and run-down buildings abound just a few steps from the front door. We witnessed several drunken street altercations within 100m of the condo, one of which was so alarming that we walked several blocks out of our way on our return from an evening engagement. As an experienced traveller, I am confident asserting that personal safety is a significant concern with this location. The photos on the website represent the interior space adequately. What they did not reveal to us were the many dabs of unpainted drywall repair on the walls in the entry stair-well. Nor do the photos suggest the poor quality of the kitchen implements. Regretfully, stainless steel appliances alone do not a 'gourmet kitchen' make. The cheap kitchen cutlery and rust-spotted knives are a rude contrast to the owner's referencing of comfort and suggestion of good taste. Likewise, the pots are a further disappointment. We used only the master bedroom and found it adequate for our needs. The ensuite bathroom is extremely small but serviceable; that said, the shower is undoubtedly the tiniest shower-stall I have ever used in almost 40 years of international travel. I'm 5'7" tall and of average weight, yet there was hardly enough room for me to wash my hair in this shower. My sense is that anyone of greater-than-average weight would simply not be able to squeeze themselves into this laughably small space. As if these issues were not enough, the main floor of this apartment was very dirty, with crumbs, hair, bits of glitter, etc, plainly obvious upon our arrival. The drawer containing table linens can best be described as an invitation to rodents. I telephoned and emailed the owner within minutes of arriving; her response was lukewarm and she did not offer either to come by to see the state of the floors (or have someone else do so) or to have the apartment properly cleaned. Yes, we took photos. And no, we did not receive any compensation/price adjustment. Finally, there is a note on the fridge, asking guests to kindly remove bedlinens and please take them, along with other linens, down to the laundry and start a wash cycle. Talk about adding insult to injury!

  Owner response: As is apparent from all other reviews of my apartment and the fact that I have a full calendar with many return guests from year to year, I am in the habit of maintaining a well run, clean and safe rental property. Maintenance is done on this property on a regular basis, and the property is cleaned by a professional cleaner between guests. Unfortunately, I can not control the activities of other people on the down town streets of the city. A truly seasoned traveller would have realistic expectations and understand that a vacation apartment which rents for $1295 per week is not going to compare with a suite at a 5 star resort which rents for much more than $1295 per night.

  The condo was great! It was cozy and warm. Great to have a place to park and we could walk to the Market or grocery stores. We will definitely use this place again when we visit Ottawa.

  This listing was just as described. Immaculate, cozy, comfortable, spacious and the owners were extremely helpful and accommodating before and during our stay even though they aren't based in Ottawa. Very clean and complete - had everything we needed. Owner very willing to answer questions - as we needed a place for a month with a toddler. Highly recommended - in a location within walking distance to many attractions and conveniences. Also was able to easily drive anywhere we needed. Many good restaurants nearby and two grocery stores within walking distance.

  Thanks for providing us with an excellent place to stay while we were visiting Ottawa. Although I had anticipated that we would be spending a lot of time downtown it turns out we didn't - only one day really - and spent the rest visiting people in all directions. Hence that your place is walking distance to all the sights yet has such good road access to the Vanier Parkway/Gatineau (and thus avoids the gridlock of downtown from a driving perspective) made it just superb!

  We had a wonderful trip to Ottawa which is a city we love, but this trip was made more enjoyable by our stay in your wonderful home. It is comfortable, beautifully decorated and very livable. We walked everywhere and it was only a 5 minute walk to one of our favorite restaurants. The added benefit of a garage to house our bikes off the street was a plus. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else if your place is available.
