Beautiful house. unfortunately the snow kept us from enjoying the gorgeous grounds. would love to come back in the summer and explore the water!!!!! i am always a bit worried when renting a house because i have 3 small children and never know how "kid friendly" a place really is. this place was perfect! pack and plays in the closet if needed, gate to keep the small ones from wandering into the basement. foosball and air hockey table. wonderful, wonderful home!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This house is BIG. We were a very large group ranging in ages of 2-70ish we never felt like we were on top of each other. The living room and dining areas accomodated us perfectly as did the outside deck and table. The bedrooms were really nice and the beds comfortable. This house was VERY clean. I've rented other homes through this website and let's just say it was cleaner when we left it! Yes, I agree with other renter's reviews...the house is creeky, BUT it is a LOG HOUSE so some creeking is expected and adds character, right? The kitchen is FULLY stocked, there is nothing you will need to bring from home. Blender, griddle, cookie sheets, hand mixer, coffee maker can openers, great quality knives, mixing bowls you name it they have it! The outside is just lovely. We sat most nights by the firepit roasting marshmellows. During the day the kids and adults had fun taking out the canoes (by the way, they supply life vests in all sizes). We also did some fishing off the dock and caught some small fish and the kids were thrilled! The only thing we had to call the owners about was the hot tub. Fair Warning: DO NOT wear your new bathing suits, they will get bleached! When we turned it on the smell of chlorine was overwhelming! But after making a call to Bill he said he has to go by state guidelines so that no one gets an infection. Completely understandable. After running it for a while the smell wasn't too bad. This house is located in a residential area which surprised us (we thought it was more secluded) but once you go into the house and spend some time in the back yard you completely forget your in a residential area, it feels really secluded inside and out. We were about a 5-10 minute ride from Lake George which was great. The owners always answered any emails I sent prior to arriving in a very timely manner. I would recommend this rental to family and friends and wouldn't mind going back for another visit in the near future.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Cozy Home

This house is cozy and comfortable, but it just doesn’t have the WOW factor. It needs a little bit of TLC. Screen door was ripped, deck needed cleaning (power wash) and mind you it was March when we were there and the weather was gorgeous, so maybe these things will get fixed for spring cleaning. The hot tub wasn’t used at all as the chlorine/chemicals in it were so strong it burnt our nose. The floors creak throughout the whole house. You can hear everyone’s steps. Dishwasher doesn’t do a great job of cleaning the dishes (no garbage disposal) and the water isn’t good to drink. Walking down to the water was very steep and it needs to have steps/path put in so nobody tumbles down. There are five nice large bedrooms, but again the floors creak so anyone getting up at night could be heard throughout. Don’t get me wrong we still had a great time.Owner response: We appreciate the honest opinion of all our guests and understand that our home is uniquie and may not appeal to everyone's taste. We are unable to do outside cleaning and yard work during the winter months. We have just had record setting warm weather this March which normally doesn't happen untill May which is why the outside work had not been done yet. We follow New York State guidelines regarding the chemical levels in our hot tub for guest safety reasons. The home is an authentic log home with real wood flooring. Wood homes do make more noise than traditional homes. We have considered installing carpet in the two upstairs bedrooms, but are hesitant as we want to keep the authentic log home look and feel. This home has municipal water and does not have a well. The water is tested and regulated by our local water department. We do have a filter on our refrigerator water dispenser. We have not installed stairs to the water as we like to keep nature intact, but will take that into consideration. Our cleaning crew lets us know when they see things that need to be repaired, but we also rely on guest notification as we do not personally live there.

We had a group of 10 adults and 3 children. The house accommodated everyone very well. The kitchen had everything we needed in fact, the owner brought us a large metal bowl which we needed for one of our desserts. The rooms were all large and the mattresses were comfortable. It was very clean and cozy! This house is a guaranteed enjoyable weekend with friends. Morning coffee with this wonderful treed view of the water was a treat. It was very convenient 30 min drive to Gore Mountain. When you walk upstairs the whole house creaks so don’t try sneaking to the kitchen at midnight! Highly recommend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This house was perfect for 3 families and their children ranging from 8 to 11. We loved the hot tub and swam in the river and fished off the dock. We enjoyed the canoes and the peaceful rides on the Schroon river. We even saw a loon! The house itself is beautiful and fully stocked with everything you might need! The whole 1st floor was the kids playground. We were so close to all the Lake George attractions and enjoyed Six Flags twice during the week, Lake George Village was a 10 min. ride, Saratoga was not too bad, and we even got to Lake Placid for a day. It was the perfect location and the house was beautiful. We would definitely come back again!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

This home is fabulous. It is beautiful and has everything you need for your stay. I threw a surprise party for my husbands 30th bday and as soon as we walked in the door we were overwhelmed by the beauty of this place. From the game room & bar in the basement to the hot tub & fire pit overlooking the water, it just couldnt have been a better setting for us. Our friends want to rent it again for their bdays and i am def looking forward to that! We had a such a great time we didnt want to go home afterwards! :)Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I along with 10 friends stayed at Bill and Niki's house for a winter weekend getaway. The house was perfect for a large group. The living room, dining area, and kitchen are perfectly placed adjacent to each other. The deck was great despite under 2' of snow and so was the backyard for sledding. Really the home had all we needed. It was close to town but didn't feel that way. If I were to plan another large gathering I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I love the Adirondacks and this home and the owners are a positive reflection of that hardy yet welcoming Adirondack spirit.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, age 55+.

My group and I just got home last evening from our stay this past MLK weekend. I knew I had to write a review the minute I returned. I am almost reluctant to preach how great our stay was in order to keep this place as our best kept secret! The house, the owners, I am not sure where to begin. I knew the stay would be fantastic based on the wonderful email exchanges I have had these past few months. Informative does not begin to describe it. Couple that with a truly beautiful, clean and extremely well kept home and you have a recipe for a unique getaway experience. Oftentimes owners will post pictures of their homes that look much better online than in person. I will say that this house is even more beautiful in person. There are details you simply cannot capture through photos. My favorite perk was the adorable baskets in each bathroom filled with amenities you often forget to pack such as toothpaste, deodorant, etc. A simple touch that makes a big difference.Thank you again to the owners! My group and I are already planning our next trip back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
