This central location of this condo made it a terrific spot for easily reaching so many of the far-flung sites on the island. But the condo in itself was a terrific retreat to awake in and come home to each day. We loved watching the sun rise over Haleakala each morning while drinking coffee on the lanai. Because it was winter, we saw many whales out in the bay many mornings and evenings as well as turtle heads poking up just feet from shore. Sleeping to the sounds of the waves so close by was beautiful and soothing. The condo was clean and very comfortable. We are big cooks and enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen. The owner's instructions and communications were all detailed and helpful. We recommend this place highly.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the terrfic review. We are continuing to make improvements such purchasing a new king-size bed and replacing the lanai windows and sliding door. We try to do everything bit by bit on Maui since it is hard to get things done quickly. The central location is a tremendous convenience to all our guests, but if you don't feel like doing anything, our condo is a great place to relax and not go out. Mahalo and aloha.

We had a wonderful stay at this well provisioned condo that sits literally 40 feet from the ocean. The place has all the amenities that one could need including a fully appointed kitchen, wireless and premium cable TV. Though you are on the first floor, the condo and lanai are elevated so you are not really at ground level. Being centrally located, there was easy access to several beaches and to both Kihei and Lahaina.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Jay. Our condo has everything that you need for a comfortable stay and it's close to all main attractions on the island. The view from the lanai is unbeatable, so you dont' feel like you have to go anywhere if you don't feel like do anything. No surprises except for the terrific view and closeness to the ocean. Aloha!

Dear Frank, We had a wonderful week in Maalaea! We so enjoyed that first look of the view from the condo. The pictures are very accurate but they cannot capture the full effect of the breeze, the sound of the ocean, the birds and the expanse of the the vista. It is an exceptional view of land and sea and nature that creates a sensory overload.. We arrived slightly early and the condo was already well prepared for new guests. The condo is very well supplied and furnished. The location is wonderful for easy access to all parts of Maui. It is an easy walk to the general store, the harbor and shops. My dive boat left right from Maalaea and I just walked home from a fantastic dive with turtles and all sorts of beautiful Pacific coral and fish. I golfed nearby and we made drives to many areas on Maui. The drive to Haleakala is fun and the view astounding...Then when you sit on your lanai and watch the sunrise over that same volcanic mountain is truly a wonderful and unique sensation. Every morning we watched the turtles right from the lanai as they raised their heads for air while they grazed on their favorite seaweed. There is a special moment every morning here at 107 Milowai...There is a time in the morning when the outline of Haleakala is clear as the sun is up but still hidden behind the mountain. Then the sun peaks over and the condo floods with fresh new sunlight. We found it to be a fun and beautiful moment and signalled the beginning of a fantastic new day on Maui. We were tired every night but slept wonderfully to the sounds of the sea and the anticipation of another great day. Aloha and mahalo for allowing us to share your home. We had a fantastic time.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the great response. That's exactly how we feel when we return after 24 years of visiting the same spot. The location is convenient and the view is spectacular....you really don't need to go anywhere to enjoy Maui, however, everything is nearby if you want to sightsee. And Maalaea now has a great general store and lots of decent restaurants along with a world class aquarium and whale watching expeditions. That view of Haleakala volcano is enchanting, especially in the mornings from late October to March. Dawn happens, but there is no sunlight. The volcano then froms a huge silhouette with the sun behind.....and then, all of a sudden sunlight flushes in from the top of the volcano. That's why its name in Hawaiian means "House of the Sun", and that's what it feels like every morning after dawn. After all these years, we still wish we could stay longer at our idyllic spot. Please come back; it will always be here. Aloha and Mahalo.

This place can't be beat in Maui for the price. It's in a corner condo unit centrally located to everything, but it's not in a built-up area. No massive crowds, a beach nearby that's only got a few people on it, and a great ground floor condo. The most amazing part of the place is its location right next to shore, where the waves crash on the rocks. The sound of the waves is a white noise relaxer, and the wind keeps the temperature perfect. Having breakfast out on the porch by the waves is not to be beat. We spent five days there and we rented movies right next door, cooked really nice meals, and felt totally at home. The place is really quiet and has nice furniture and lighting, new fixtures, and a shower area with stonework that is very high-end. It's not hard to imagine that the place is always booked, but everything feels so fresh and new!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Aimee for your great review. Please note that our condo is an ELEVATED ground floor unit. The living room is 6 feet about ground level and the bedroom windows are 10 feet about ground level, making for close proximity to the ocean but high enough off the ground for privacy and great views.

We had a terrific stay in this wonderful condo. The view is absolutely breathtaking. Everything you would ever need has been included and this makes for a hastle free vacation. The location is ideal and this makes it easy to get to other spots on the island. We loved using the bar b q and enjoyed some wonderful restaurants that are within walking distance. We definitely recommend this condo -- its beautiful, comfortable, and the owner is so nice to work with. We hope to return.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review. We just went back ourselves in August and loved it. We never tire of the beautiful view and the wonderful sounds of the ocean. And, after all these years of visiting 107 Milowai (since 1988), we still are sad to leave. Aloha.

We had a fantastic vacation in Maui this June, and were sorry to have to leave. The condo was great, and had everything we needed. Even better was the view. Morning breakfast and coffee on the lanai was one of my favorite times (and I'm not a morning person). The sea turtles came by every night at about 7 PM. The location of the condo was really good, centrally located to everything. The weather was great, it rained only one night (in Maalaea) and one day was cloudy all day. I don't know if the air conditioner worked, I never even tried to turn it on, as the breeze was cool, and the ocean sound relaxing. We hope to return again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review. We love this place for the view and the location both in the building and on the island. The 40 foot view from the ocean makes it very special. We keep upgrading and replacing items in the condo as frequently as possible. This condo is managed locally by a terrific management company, and we have a great cleaning service and handy man. Nearly 60% of our guests return every year. I try to match very closely the rate you will pay next time with what you paid this year, so please return when you can. Your business is greatly appreciated. Our guests take very good care of our condo, and it shows. Mahalo and aloha, Frank

First time to Maui with the wife, and I couldn't have found a better location! Comfortable and beautiful condo with everything you need! Central location makes it really easy to get anywhere quickly! One of the best things about the location is that every evening you are able to watch the green sea turtles come into the bay area just outside the lanai and watch them swim around. I would recommend this condo to anyone, and will specifically change my vacation times to ensure I can reserve this one again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks again Robert for such a great review. We've watched the sea turtles and the whales (from December to April) many times. From the first time we walked into the condo in 1988, we decided we would return many times. We've visited many one bedroom condos on Maui, and we can honestly say that we've never been in another condo with such a great floor plan and so close to the ocean. The livingroom and bedroom open up to a wonderful view, so that you almost feel like you're on a boat. The location of Maalaea makes it the perfect for spot for first-time visitors since it is close to everything. However, this relatively sleepy town feels like you're off the beaten path in a quiet spot. The trade winds in the summer months kick up in the afternoon and keep the town relatively cool (82 instead of 89), and are not disruptive to your enjoyment of the condo. The harbor is a great spot for activities and very close to the condo, yet our condo feels peaceful and romantic for being so close to many activities. We've upgraded 107 Milowai constantly over the past 19 years. Our most recent improvements include completely tiling the floors, replacing the drapes and most of the furniture in the livingroom and bedroom and completely remodeling the bathroom. 60% of our visitors are returning guests, so we book up quickly every year. All our guests have been wonderful and have helped keep the condo in great shape. Please return and I'll make sure that your cost stays very close to what you paid on your last visit. Mahalo and Aloha! Frank

Just wanted to say what a wonderful time we had in your condo. We were there for our daughter's wedding during July 2011. Everything was exactly as you mentioned in your vrbo listing. It is centrally located so it was a short communte in all directions. We loved walking to the harbor and having dinner and drinks at "Beach Bums" restaurant. Loved watching the boats come and go from the harbor. We can't wait to come back on our next vacation to Maui!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Cheryl and Curt. Often, I get rave reviews from guests by email, and then I try to get them to put in their comments in VRBO and it never happens. It's quite a treat to have my guests on their own take the time and effort to complete a review. We really appreciate your effort. We've done a great deal in the past 3 year to upgrade our condo: new furniture, new flooring, excellent cleaning service, excellent window cleaning service and as many new appliances as possible. Of course, the location was always excellent, and now Maalaea Village has really come into its own with lots of restaurants, snorkeling, whale watching, excursion trips, whale-watching and a world-class aquarium. So the condo is very convenient, yet very close to everything on the island. But the one thing we love most about our condo has nothing to do with amenities or location, it's that wonderful view and the sound of the ocean. When we see it, we are immediately transported miles from everything....there's something about that view of the huge volcano Haleakala, the Molikini half-crater, and the island of Kahoolawe, with the ocean in front that makes ithe condo seem so romantic and dreamy. I haven't tired of it yet. And the harbor is close enough to add a few boats and fun activities, etc., but far enough away not to interfere with the wonderful view, the sound of the ocean, and the feeling like you are miles from everything. Many thanks and please come back. Sincerely, Frank

Our jaws dropped as we opened the door for the first time--the view of crashing waves was awesome. Very nicely appointed condo. We had everything we needed including kitchen amenities, washer/dryer, comfortable bed. The condo and surrounding property had pride of ownership--very impressive. The location was absolutely perfect as far as convenience to other parts of the island including Kahului (airport), Kihei, Wailua, and Lahaina. Maalaea is very quiet and does not have that "huge resort" feeling at all. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends and family. Our only reservation is that when the tradewinds blew, they really were strong on this part of the island.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the great review. We really enjoy this place as well. It's all about the view and the location and the closeness to the ocean. We have significantly upgraded the condo and replaced amost everything in it, but still it's the view and where you're at that makes this a great place to spend a vacation. The winds can kick up strongly in the late afternoons of the summer months (July to Sept.). But for the most part they don't affect your enjoyment of the condo. For instance, I go for walks on the beach during the summer in the mornings and early afternoons, avoiding the late afternoons if the winds are strong. I go running with the wind in the late afternoon and really enjoy it. Furthermore, the winds add great relief to the heat of the summer. Kihei, Lahaina, Wailea and their surrounding resort areas are often 5-7 degrees warmer than Maalaea from June to September, and that difference in temperature, such as 89 as opposed to 82, is dramatic if you are on vacation and want to be comfortable without having to run the A/C. Most of our guests rarely use the air conditioner. If you close the front door and the small window next to the front door, you get a very nice cross breeze from the bedroom to the livingroom without much wind even on the lanai. Overall, the wind is an asset to enjoying your vacation unless you're trying to have picnic on the beach with paper plates after 3 PM. LOL. The wind has rarely been an issue for most of our guests, and over 50% of our reservations each year are repeat business. Again, aloha and mahalo for the great review. Frank

We committed to four weeks in your condo and were unsure as we had never been there before. We were quite happy though, once we arrived. The location is the best in the complex - you almost feel like you are on a cruise liner with the view you get from the deck - being so close to the water. The Condo was spacious and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location of the Condo on Maui was perfect as we wanted to do a lot of exploring. We probably drove every mile of Maui and the central location of the condo was perfect. A half hour to Lahaina, a half hour to Wailea, a half hour to Paia, or 40 minutes to the upcountry - just perfectly in the middle of it all. We also spent a few days just hanging out at the condo, and as you mention at the end of the condos is the beginning of a beach that goes all the way to Kihei. Also saw plenty of wildlife from the condo; such as birds, Geckos, sea turtles, and whales. Yes - it wasn't until our last day - but we saw a whale - then I saw something I had never seen before - a whale breaching the water - magnificent. Mahalo - or as us mainlanders say - Thanks!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Ellen. I appreciate you taking the time to complete the review. You really summed up well what is terrific about our condo, 107 Milowai: its location in the building, its proximity to the ocean, its view, and its wonderful location on the island. It also has a great floor plan which enables guests to see the view easily from any where in the condo. I have tried every year to add an improvement or upgrade to the condo itself. It is a nice place to hang out and has a lot of amenities. Still, the best part of being at 107 Milowai is the view, the sound of the ocean only 40 feet away, and the great location for visiting the rest of the island. Mahalo again for your kind words, Frank

We stayed at this property for 11 nights in August of 2010. The photos and descriptions are 100% accurate and the condo is clean, clean, clean!! We appreciated the thorough instructions left by the owners as we came to realize that they had thought of EVERY detail that you would need or want to know to make your stay pleasant and uncomplicated. It was centrally located and everything was just a short car ride away. Beach Bums in the Marina was excellent and one of our favorite places to relax after a long day of advertures and fun in the sun! We went to the restaurant located at the condo one night and although it was a little pricey, it was SO worth it and we wished that we had gone sooner. Frank was very accomodating with our late departure as we had a evening flight back home. We would like to thank Frank and Brian for sharing their wonderful home with us and we hope to one day come back again. We have stayed at other VRBO's and this is by far the BEST! (I really hate to write that because the calendar may be full the next time we want to come because this place is so great...by the way...sorry it took so long to put our review in! ) Wonderful place to stay...thanks!! :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Gary and Maureen. We've been doing this since 1993, so it's nice to hear that all the changes and additions to the condo as well as the instructions have made a difference. Actually, since you've been there is 2010, we've replaced the furniture in the living room and bedroom and added a headboard for the bed. This year the drapes are getting replaced as well as the tub and shower. We keep trying to improve the place, but the view and the location and layout of the condo need no improvement. Mahalo, Frank

Aloha, My husband and I were visiting Dec. 24th thru Jan. 1st. 2010. We have enjoyed Maui to the maximum extent! When you arrive you definately want to take Frank's advice and stock up at the grocery store. They are in short supply on the island. We stopped at Wal Mart which sits kind of off the main drag so you really have to be looking for it. Our brother inlaw and his family were staying across the bay at another resort and they were very impressed with our condo. It was clean, comfortable, and had every amenity you could think of. We loved the location and the view was unbeatable. The Beach Bum is a great place to eat with nightly entertainment. We took the Molokini snorkel tour and didn't see a whole lot of fish but we did see some whales jump. What an incredable sight that was! There is also some great snorkeling beyond big beach. Both Tommy Bahama and Buba Gumps were fun and recommended! Lahaina is a must, great shops, galleries and history. We enjoyed a couple of days of golf at Elleair. A good user friendly golf course. This is our first time to Maui and it has been absolutely surreal! Every day we have enjoyed sun and mid 80's, a wonderful condo, interesting beach combing, beautiful hikeing at twin falls, great golf, fantastic snorkiling and top that all off with a full moon to boot! We consider our selves to be very fortunate to have the oppertunity to enjoy all of the wonderful joys of Maui! Many Mahalos to you Frank for shareing your very nice condo! We will be back. Ben and Karen Seattle, WARecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Ben and Karen for your thoughtful remarks. I appreciate your phone call telling me how great your stay was, and I also appreciate you making another reservation for this year. Our condo is now booked for all of 2010 except for 11 weeks, and all the people making reservations are returning guests! I'm so glad that our little slice of paradise in Maalaea is enjoyed by so many again and again. Mahalo, Frank

[Here's another unedited email from guests who stayed at our condo in October.]Hi there Frank, Just wanted to extend my thanks again for sharing your condo with myself and family. We had a fantastic time; enjoyed every minute we spent there. Did a lot of local snorkling and beaching (as much as you can do with a 5 mth old) as well as morning yoga on the grass. You have invested in a beautiful property on a heavenly island and we look forward to visiting again in the future. Just a little note that perhaps could be of some benefit to your future guests which we found could have helped us in our pre-visit grocery shopping. There are alot of the same condiments in the fridge and cupboards that were obviously purchased by previous guests unknowingly (ie: 3 containers of mayo, 2 containers of mustard, 2 sets of salt and pepper etc.). Aside from eliminating waste, hopefully this will help out guests in the future. I've attached a few pictures from our time in Maalea (my husband C. and daughter N. watching the surfers and myself and N. on the lanai) Once again Mahalo! [Here is an unedited email from our guests who stayed at 107 Milowai for 11 nights in September & October of 2009.] Aloha Frank and Brian: Joe and I left the condo this morning with sadness, our vacation is drawing to an end. The condo is marvelous, central to all access roads to the whole island, which cuts down on the travel time. We did and saw everything that Maui offers. Hana, Kula, Haleakala down to Kihei, Makena and up all the way up West Maui. We loved all the great beaches that are so close to Milowai[our condo building] as we love to snorkle and boogie board, that's why we picked your condo, so many beaches. The condo was very clean and a lovely set up. We met Kent and the second guy who took over for Kent as he went for a holiday on another island. We were wondering where Maui residents would spend their vacation considering they live in paradise. Both are very nice and friendly men. We were quite happy that you have stocked the kitchen with all the tools for cooking, I especially appreciate the blender, works great! The books that are available are great too, we added three more books to the collection; flowers, birds and fish of Hawaii. We also bought the "Maui Revealed" book which is a good "getting around" book, quite accurate, we made notes in it so we have taken it home with us. They didn't like Maalaea Bay because of the wind but I love the wind! It keeps things cooler and we left the condo every day to see Maui so we missed all the burning of the cane, etcetera. [To clairfy, the cane burning only happens every 6 or 7 months near our condo, and only lasts a few days in the early morning.] At night we would walk the marina and stop in at "Beach Bums" and listen to the local muscians. The owners are nice and the crab cakes are not bad, very similar to Buzz's. All in all, fantastic condo and we would like thank you again for the best place to stay. Mahalo Frank for sharing your beautiful condo with us. We fell in love with the place as soon as we arrived. Ten days was not enough. We will be back! It was very convenient to everything and such a peaceful place to call home. Some evenings we cooked and it was so convenient to have the grills so close by. Thank you again for a great vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mahalo for the wonderful compliments. It does take me about a week to decompress from the pace of the mainland and get into the relaxing cadence of Maui living. Then, I want at least another week before leaving! I have been going to our condo (as first a guest and then an owner) for over 21 years, and I often think that I'll get bored, because I've been there so many times. But that view is just as enchanting as it was the first time I saw it in 1988 as a rentor myself. There's something about the open ocean only 40 feet away with a striking volcano in the background. In the winter the sun rises over the volcano, which is just spectacular on those winter mornings from late October to early March. I love seeing the lights of Wailea and Kula at night on the volcano. Again, thanks for choosing 107 Milowai for your vacation! Aloha, Frank

Aloha Frank, Well, our two weeks here will soon be coming to a close and I must tell you how absolutely perfect your beautiful condo was for us. I had wanted a quiet place to stay with a view and after looking at what seemed like a thousand condos for rent I was fortunate enough to find yours. The amazing view, the sound of the surf to lull us to sleep every night......I simply cannot say enough!! Mahalo, mahalo, mahalo! The condo was very well-equipped and clean and the immaculate grounds were an absolute delight. Being centrally located , we were easily able to enjoy the whole island on day trips. My helicopter tour of the island was awe-inspiring as were Haleakala and Hana. I hope to return next year and have already recommended your condo to friends. Cheers and aloha, Victoria B.C. Owner response: Mahalo, Judy, we appreciate you taking the time to comment on our condo. People always tell us that our central location makes seeing the island very easy. Our condo is close to everything and yet is a very peaceful place to relax and enjoy the view. We recently replaced the vanity in the bathroom, and added a bar table with bar chairs so that people have an elevated view from the kitchen counter and the new table. We also added wireless internet and a new LCD TV for bedroom. Aloha, Frank

It's a beautiful, quiet, peaceful location and so very well equipped. (The books you have on Maui were great.) The weather was excellent for us. We had breakfast and dinner every day on the lanai. (We spent a lot of time relaxing, looking out on the bay, listening to Nat King Cole.) The new appliances you recently installed were wonderful. The cold water dispenser on the fridge is a particularly nice feature. We found a real gem when we found your condo. When we visit Maui again, we shall certainly check if your place is available. [This guest just arrived at our condo and sent me an email the next day to tell me how great it was. Our $15,000 worth of improvements in May must have made a difference. Here's the unedited email....] Good Morning: Just thought I would drop you a quick line. Phil and I arrived yesterday. WOW, your home here is beautiful! I believe the pictures do not it justice, and we are just thrilled with how nice everything is. Anyways, just wanted to say we will be enjoying your home and wanted to thank you for sharing it with others. Have a wonderful day. Regards. NancyDid you find this review helpful? Dear Frank: Just wanted to drop you a line to thank you again for sharing your beautiful home with those of us who visit the Island of Maui. It is centrally located to the airport, Lahaina and Kihei. The pictures you have on the web page do not do your home justice. The view is spectacular and the activity from Ma'alaea Bay was enjoyable to watch. One of the highlights was having coffee on the lanai each morning watching the turtles eat breakfast. They showed up around 5:45 am and feed until around 7:00 am. Your condo had everything we needed for cooking and even appreciated having the extra fans in the bedroom closet. We will recommend your home to our family and friends. Phil and I had a wonderful time! Warm Regards, NancyOwner response: Thanks for the nice words. Frank

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It's a clean, beautiful, quiet, peaceful location and well equipped. The website is very accurate in describing this condo. (The new appliances recently installed are wonderful.) This condo a real gem; the owners are terrific and easy to communicate with. When we visit Maui again, we shall certainly check if this place is available and we would, without hesitation recommend this condo to others. Maalaea is centrally located on Maui and traveling to any of the attractions/activities is not an arduous task. Lowell & Shelagh Edmonton, CanadaRecommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad the new appliances are working out well. I didn't get to see or use the new fridge; it was installed after we left. I'm glad everything went well. Mahalo, Frank

Simply perfect! The view, location, amenities perfect. Definitely a place we would and will some day go back to. Comfortable in every way. Restaurant within walking distance and one of the best in the area. Nothing short of perfect for our honeymoon. The description made by the owner was everything they described and they were great to communicate with. We would highly recommend this condo to anyone. We cannot stop talking about it and cannot wait to return. Maui is a wonderful place and there is lots to do. Right on the bay; you can watch boats come and go and watch surfers as well. We were told it is one of the best surfing areas right there. We even saw a harbor seal right out our window!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Keith I'm so glad that it worked out perfectly. We have lots of honeymooners stay at our place, and they're never disappointed. We appreciate you spreading the word! Frank

[Here's part of an email I recently received from a returning guest. Over half of our rentals are for returning guests.] Hi Frank: Its me again. We are thinking about going to Maui again this summer. Probably July 18th to the 25th...but if that doesn't work, we will keep trying for the next batch of Friday to Friday or we may go for August. I want to see what the flights look like from Oregon. There is one that goes right to Maui and that was the one we took last year. This time we want to bring my 15 year old daughter with us. It looks like your place is not booked then....just checking to see if we can come back once we figure out what time we want and availability of your wonderful condo. I was looking at the pictures again, when I think about going...I get that nice feeling that I got when we were there. You have such a nice place right there next to the water...we loved it. When I mentioned it to Rick he just gave me that aaaahhhhhhh look. I kept all my bookmarks and your email is still in my Outlook at work. We plan to cook again....it was so much more fun than cooking at home..we of course got some good stuff to cook. And the BBQ right there was awesome. And breakfast on the Lanai you can't get that great of a view anyplace else. Why is Dec 2008 open? Not that I can come then...but I was just curious did someone cancel? That will be scooped up before you know it. J.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It has a spectacular ocean view and the private balcony allows you to see the beautiful sun rises and watch the whales in Maalaea Bay. The condo is very bright and open and has everything needed for a wonderful stay in Maui. The location is perfect in that it is centrally located for easy access to Lahaina, Kaanapali and Kehei. We would definitely rent again !!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Jayne -- that's exactly how we feel when we stay at our place. We've owned this condo since 1993, and we've never been disappointed no matter what time of year we go. Your thoughts are most appreciated. Frank

[Here's a recent unedited email from a guest who stayed from Oct.20 to 28th, 2007.]Frank, Thank you very much for renting us your Maui condo last month. We were very sorry to leave and enjoyed everything about our stay. You have put so much thought into purchasing items for the condo that make a stay there fun and very comfortable. Our favorite part of the condo was the patio. We ate breakfast out there every morning and watched the small boats go out. It was so peaceful and a wonderful way to start the day. The other huge plus was how centrally located it was. It made it so easy to explore the whole island and not spend our day driving. We’ll be back! Amy F.Did you find this review helpful? Dear Frank and Brian, We just wanted to let you know that we absolutely loved the condo. It was so well thought out and all the supplies we needed were right there at our fingertips. We were very pleased with the placement of the condo in reference to our other activities. It really was the perfect staging area for driving the roads to Hana and Haleakala as well as our numerous trips to Lahaina and Honolua Bay. We didn't want to be in the middle of the crowds --as we would have been at Ka'anapali -- and the relaxing atmosphere at Milowai was perfect. We were concerned that a lack of air conditioning would be a problem (Beth is sensitive to hot temperatures, especially at night) but the trade winds and the way that the windows are placed, allowing for cross ventilation, made our stay more than just comfortable. We plan on visiting Maui again and hope you have room for us then. Thank you for a wonderful honeymoon stay! Beth H. and Brian L.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[This is a recent email from a guest staying at our condo in August 2007. It is unedited] Hi Frank and Bryan, Oh my gosh..this place is amazing!!! We got here on Friday around 3pm. We got in at 12:30p and got the rental car, and stopped at Costco and Safeway. Then we got here and walked into this place...we walked in and went...WOW!! The view is amazing your condo is beautiful and wonderful. We just love it!! I kept saying..I can not believe I am here and your pictures are so good on the website!! They did help visualize but its more beautiful in person. We have had breakfast on the Lanai twice and watched the boats go out. We went to Da Kitchen on Friday..that was great!! Went to Cheese Burger in Paradise and to Lu Lu's yesterday. Food at cheese burger was okay...but we had a table by a window and the atmosphere is fun. Lu Lus was good food...but very windy in there but it was fun. We have been waking up early...of course...3 am...because our day starts at 6am at home. I slept in a bit today..woke up at 5am today. We love it that we have more of the day that way. Anyways...just wanted to let you know we are here...its beautiful. We love it. I am so happy we have more days to go. Today we are going to West Maui to check out the beaches up there. Dinner tonight wil be on the Lanai and watch the sunset. NY Steaks and Tiger Shrimp...Baked potatoes, zuccini stir fried with a maui onion. Rick's cooking. ; ) Its funny.....we could probably find some great places to go eat...but this is the best place in Maui I think!!: ) It helps that Rick and I both like to cook. Thank you, Jo Ann and Rick.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[Just received this wonderful email from our guests who stayed 7 nights at the end of April. Here is the unedited email.] Hi Frank, Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the use of your condo last week. I remember reading one of your prior guest's comments "I got my life back" there. Now I know what he meant. Everything was immaculate and the view was spectacular. Nights were so peaceful going to sleep with the sound of the ocean and the breezes. Waking each morning to the same with the birds singing was even more wonderful, and the sunsets and sunrises! WOW! And dining on the lanai beat any restaurant on the island for us. Maui was the closest thing to heaven we have ever experienced and we are already "homesick" for it. Saw NO BUGS in the condo, just a few tiny friendly geckos the first few days which we did not mind at all and gently ushered outside. Other than that, it was clean, comfortable, and very nicely decorated. We felt right at home! We loved every minute of our stay - we even stayed in an entire day at the condo just to relax and read and enjoy the view. Your neighbors were really nice - people walking by would always smile and say hello. My husband and I were very overworked and overstressed when we went on vacation - staying in your condo was like staying in another world where we discovered that life is not meant for constant work. We readjusted our priorities during that whole time - and set some goals to be able to own a piece of paradise there ourselves someday. Ginger and another agent (Rick?) were able to give us some insights on real estate and life on the island - what wonderful friendly people. However, we have got a lot to do here on the mainland before we can be neighbors with you, so until then we hope you'll let us rent from you again. Thank you so very much for making everything, from booking to coming home, such a wonderful, smooth, and stress-free experience. The condo was easy to find and everything was just as you said it would be, We have already recommended your condo to several of our friends and family. We hope to return as soon as we possibly can - just have to get that last kid in college and some finances in order before we do. Then, look for us to walk by you having breakfast on the lanai and saying hey one of these days.... I am truly sorry we were not able to take advantage of your offer of a few extra nights in the condo. Waikiki had NOTHING on your place! We enjoyed this special place from 12-27-06 through 01-06-07. The owners description tells no falsehoods! This is an outstanding location in Maui with very easy access to many of the top sites. The condo was very airy with lots of light and pleasant trade wind breezes. One will hear the sound of soft rolling water at all times. I am hesitant to say more as it is like finding a great place to chop a Christmas tree down here in Michigan. You do not want to reveal the source and too much detail as you will increase the competition for further use. I felt this way about this condo. I could enjoy repeated stays forever with the only grief being the competition to use it! By the way, the owners are very honest, caring, and trustworthy. They were very honorable to deal with. I got part of my life back when I spent time in 107 Milowai in Maalaea. Aloha and Mahalo! Gordon RyskampDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[I wrote Cristy asking if she had any problems with the condo, etc. Here is what she wrote on 7/6/06] Hi Frank. We had a fabulous time! The condo was excellent! We loved the view. The wedding was fantastic. My husband met Ginger and said she was very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again. We rescued the cutest baby gecko from the floor of the condo. The little guy just didn't want to climb up on the walls like the others, he insisted on running around on the floor. So in order not to squish him we caught him and let him go outside. But not before taking photos of him. We left an entry in your guest book, feel free to put it on your website. My parents and one of our friends also stayed in the complex (on the 2nd and 3rd floors) and we all just really loved the location. It was pretty central to everything. And in my book you just can't go wrong staying that close to the Maui Ocean Center! Thanks so much again. It was really a great trip and we loved where we stayed. In fact I will keep your website on my favorites for our next visit to Maui! Cristy & Jason D.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We couldn't have asked for more. This condo was so close to the ocean we could feel it splash on us! Great location away from the tourist traffic, but close to several nice restaurants, shops, etc. Perfect central location for exploring the whole island. Clean, comfortable and an excellent bargain! Views like this will cost twice as much other places on the the island! Milowai at Maalaea was the perfect spot to make our Maui home for the week.Did you find this review helpful? [Here's an unedited email from our recent guests in May. Gloria didn't realize that there was a valve on the showerhead that can be easily turned to lower the flow so that it didn't pinch her skin. Looks like the toaster needs replacing as it does every 2 years. We appreciate our guests telling us if there are any problems so that we can keep the place in great shape. -- Frank Russo] Hi Frank, My husband and I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed staying in your condo. We had a great and relaxing visit. The location was great, as was the view and spaciousness of the unit. We are very interested in returning next year - I will check on your rental calendar on your web site when we have a better idea of the month and dates. Hope you will welcome us back. I did want to update you on a couple of things. I had mentioned on the phone that the coffee maker had a burned hot plate that you might want to fix or replace it all together. I didn't get an opportunity to try to clean with any strong detergent so it might be salvageable. Also the last day we were there we tried to use the toaster and couldn't get it to work. Now it might have been something that we did (like not plug in properly?) so you might want to check it out the next time you are there. The last thing is a suggestion - the shower head is a strong, strong stream of water that almost (when you have had a bit of sun) feels like needles hitting your skin. You might want to consider replacing it with something inexpensive but that will put out a softer and more even spray. On the positive side, we loved the bed. It was the best rest we got while we were there. As I mentioned earlier, we stayed in another condo in the same area for three weeks before moving to yours and the bed in the other condo was very uncomfortable but we couldn't say that about your bed. It was very, very comfortable. We also loved the spaciousness, even though it was only the two of us, we could both work in the kitchen and sit comfortably in the main room. So I hope you will consider renting to us next year. I'm sure we'll be back. Thanks again, Mike and Gloria H.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a wonderful condo, with cool breezes at night, the sound of the surf all day, in a private, quiet little town where we could retreat after a full day of sightseeing. What is great about this location is that it's in a sunbelt, it can be raining on either end of the island, but the clouds just skirt by Maalaea! I would recommend it to anyone, and already have to several friends. Thanks Frank and Brian for a wonderful stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[Here's a recent email 1/17/05 that really sums up our place. BTW, you won't have to use paper towel anymore to keep the front door open; we're adding a door stop latch. The weather in Hawaii was very rainey this year - not typical for our location. Here's their unedited email...] Frank and Brian, We didn't have time to make any logs or notes in your guest book, but thought perhaps you could keep this and print it to add to the book if you desired. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your condo Dec. 26, 2004 to Jan. 2, 2005. We weren't sure where to view any fireworks displays, as we normally are in Honolulu for New Year's. So, we had dinner at a local restaurant, drove around a bit and then headed back to the condo. Imagine our surprise and delight when the fireworks shows started along the other side of the harbor in the area of Wailea. We had a visit from a friendly gecko, and weren't bothered by any biting gnats and only had trouble with a few mosquitoes. We were really worried that it would get too hot in the condo without air conditioning. We were thrilled with the cross-ventilation due the the corner location and usage of the ceiling and portable fans in the condo. The door only slammed closed (by accident!) once. Although, we put a roll of paper towels in between it and the screen door just in case. We left that roll of paper towels for the other guests. We saw whales on two different days. They put on a great show! Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse (the whales must have known as they disappeared). It rained very heavily and was extremely overcast for three days. That took away a good portion of the week we were there, so we'll just have to stay longer next time. Thank you, and mahalo for your hospitality and upkeep of such a wonderful place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[This email just came in today 10/22/04] Dear Frank, Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at the condo. Maui was indeed our favorite island! It was such a joy to get up with the sun and sit out on the lanai with a cup of coffee. Watching the sunset was equally a treat. It is soooooo peaceful and quiet there. A couple of weeks would have been great. We were able to tour the whole island and see and do everything we had planned at a relaxed pace. Your book collection was wonderful as was your artwork on the walls. I especially adored the two little buddah-like statues in frames. The decor was perfect and the condo was so comfortable. We were really careful with the sand and the carpet too. I just can't say enough about the condo. We enjoyed it tremendously. i only wish there had been more hours in the day to spend there. I'm sorry we weren't there when you called so I could tell you personally how much we appreciated everything. I'm sure we will be returning at some point. I have recommended it to two couples I work with already. Thanks so much for letting us share your little piece of paradise for a few days! Lea B.Did you find this review helpful? Life here is the opposite of life in the fast lane. Everyone talks about "Hawaiian time"meaning if something is scheduled for, say, 2PM it may be later than that. Or "take it easy man!". Eating is definitely different too. I have yet to go to a fast food restaurant. Last night I had Ahi from the Barbie and some spaghetti with a sauce of sun dried tomatoes and basil and a couple of pieces of whole wheat toast. For breakfast I had POG [a local fruit drink made from passion fruit, orange juice and guava juice which is simply delicious], 1/2 of a huge papaya with squeezed lime juice and sushi [honestly!] which I bought yesterday at the local Star market and is the best I have ever tasted [food definitely tastes better here!] --and that Wasabi opens up your nostrils; my eyes are still watering!, a bottled water, and Kona coffee from Costco. I especially enjoy fish and fruits so this diet suits me just fine. My condo is right on the water and is a one bedroom with a Lanai almost out over the water. I'm in Maalaea which is the harbor from which the snorkel trips to Molikini leave if you've been here. I get to see all of the boats coming and going each day from my front deck. Last night I went to a fantastic slack key guitar concert at the Ritz Carlton (definitely "ritzy"). They have weekly concerts on Maui now. It is hosted by George Kahumoku, Jr. whom I had met last year both in Santa Cruz when I still lived in San Mateo and another time in Ventura [he just completed his MA in fine arts at UC Santa Cruz] and featuring Cyril Pahinui. Also performing were two of George's kid's (he has 17 children!) [a boy who plays ukelele and a daughter who danced the hula], his nephew also on uke and his new wife from Santa Cruz, Nancy, also danced. I have booked two more of these Tuesday evening concerts while I'm here. The days are lazy and the beaches are spectacular. And sunsets over the Pacific Ocean are not to be believed. The weather has been cooperated and is near perfect as I had expected it to be hot but it isn't [and I don't have air conditioning]. The trade winds usually keep the weather pleasant. When they die it gets hotter. Sleeping with the sound of breaking waves and a light breeze would relax anyone. So for me this place is ideal. I'm not sure what my actual definition of paradise is but this is close. As they say on this island... Maui no ka oi--Maui is the bestOwner response: I don't edit guest comments, but I would like to add that the boats from the harbor do not pass by close to the lanai. They are far away, but add just enough occasional activity to make it interesting and fun. The harbor is not near the condo in terms of noise or activity, but it does occasionally provide it's own entertainment when watching the view from the lanai. We like having the harbor nearby. The harbor is not part of our view from the livingroom and bedroom, and there are not a lot of boats or activities from the harbor that affect the view or your enjoyment of the condo.

We have just returned from our stay in Ma'alaea, Maui. Great as ever. This is our 2nd stay at your condo and again we found it "just like home". It's getting tougher to leave every year. "Oh well". Judging by your occupancy calander, this well kept secret isn't a secret anymore. I guess that shows the popularity of your condo and location. Hope not too many more people figure this out or we won't be able to get a booking. See you next year. Mahalo.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had never been to Maui before and didn't know the best part of the island to stay. We were going to the Big Island first for a week and only had 3 nights in Maui. Every place I looked up on the web had a minimum night stay of at least 4 nights, but often 7. This is one of the few places that allowed fewer nights -- luckily, as I thought we'd be stuck in a hotel. After we booked it we got a guide book, only to find out that it was characterized as the windiest place to stay on the island. I was a little worried, but I found it no windier than another other place and the lanai seemed to totally shelter the wind so all I felt was a nice breeze. The picture on the web page doesn't do it justice -- the water is literally right in front of the condo with a beautiful view and you hear the ocean sounds all night when you sleep - it's great. There is a beach within in walking distance that has one of the longest stretches of sand to walk on. If you want to take a boat ride to snorkel, all the boats depart within walking distance. There are great restaurants in the area too. Loved the condo and amenities and loved the central location -- it's close to everything.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[This guest was kind enough to replace a floor fan that he either broke or found broken; like the majority of our guests, Joe was a pleasure to have stay at our condo. Here's his email from June 17, 2003.] Hi Frank, Yes, I found one at WalMart and I did put the old fan in the dumpster. Other than that, everything went well. I've stayed at other Maalaea condos but none of them was as nice as yours. By the way, MCI called yesterday. I think he wanted to switch your local phone service to MCI. I told them the property was a rental and I didn't have your phone #. JoeDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[02/28/03 This sweet card just arrived today] Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed 107 Milowai. It was lovely to hear the ocean day and nite. We enjoyed the good restaurant in the building - the Maui Ocean Center - golf at Waiehu Muni Course - Ulapulakua (ranch?) - everything. The condo itself was very comfortable - great lanai and sunny bedroom. We'd recommend it to anyone. Saw my home during the war-in Wailuku-much smaller! Mahalo, Margaret W. [03/17/03 This thoughtful email arrived from our guests who just stayed in February] A note to let you know that we had an awesome Maui vacation and truly enjoyed your condo. View from lanai was spectacular. The whales were extremely active this year. They were breaching all over the bay. Incredible. Only minor blipp was the fridge meltdown but luckily we sorted the problem out quickly. Now that we're home, we wish we were'nt. "O" well. We would like to book again next year but the US exchange hit us pretty hard. Will have to take a chance at booking it in a couple of months. Should know by then if we can do it. Truely hope so. Again, we enjoyed the condo and will be in touch. You could forward to us your rate for next year. That might help us with our decision. Thanks again. Great stay. MAHALO; Boyd & Sandy E. [05/15/03 This is an email from some folks that stayed at the end of April.] Hi Frank, We had a wonderful time and your condo was perfect! We felt right at home (you use the same colors I do in some of my rooms) and I loved the shutters in between the living area and bedroom...what a view! We signed your autograph book too. Thank you for the use of your condo and we'll be sure and be in touch next time we go over. Trudy S.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

[Hi Everybody: Here are unedited emails from guests. Thanks - Frank and Brian] [01/29/03] Well, we enjoyed our stay so much in 2002 that we've decided to come back in 2004. We were looking at your calendar. Is the first part of Feb. all booked? Would Jan 24 - 25 through Jan 31st be available? If it is, what is the rate? Keeping our fingers crossed that we can work out the date!! Thanks! Mary W. [01/22/03] Hi, We stayed in your condo this past December for a week and we're ready to make the move. Can you tell me how many square feet is your place? Do you know of any units for sale in the same building? Can you recommend a reputable real estate agent? -- Frank B. [1/16/03] Aloha Frank; Just wanted to thank you again for a fabulous condo! We just cant' say enough about it! We would certainly love to stay again, and have told all of our family and friends about the great location, huge size, outstanding view, superb utilities and furnishings! We feel very lucky to have founds such an incredible place! I tried to pay Sue for our stay, but she said to go only through you, so let me know what you want me to do. Jen and Brett [01/13/02] Hi Frank and Brian, We've been back for a couple of days and I've been meaning to get this e-mail out ever since then...I guess better late then never! Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your place. The corner unit that you have is wonderful! The surf sound is priceless! That was the best sound in the world to wake up to every morning! I hope you get a chance to enjoy it often. It was a great place to relax and unwind from our lives for a while! Mary and Steve P.S. We really liked the new sofa! [12/01/01] Frank & Brian, Bruce & I wanted to say first of all Mahalo for the condo. It was beautiful. We got married at Makena Cove on the 13th at sunset & I don't think that we could have asked for anything better than the 10 days we spent in paradise. The other thing that we wanted to let you know is we have a ticket for the PGA tourney at the Plantation on Jan. 6, 2002. Also a $10.00 coupon for the shop at Kapalua that expires on the 31 of dec. If you want, we can send them to you to so you can share with who ever is at the condo during these times. Let us know & again Thank you so much for the wonderful view.
