This home is private and sits on the periphery of town. It is a clean and comfortable home with 2 full bathrooms which makes it ideal for a family of 4 or 5. The water pressure is great, the bed mattress is firm in the master bedroom and did not please me. However, the home is well equipped with utensils, pots & pans and pretty much anything you'd expect in your own home. The decor is modern/eclectic with rustic touches. My only wish is that the home were closer to the town center because it is about a 15 minute brisk walk to get there. However, the size of the home is amazing with a large terrace area that includes a hammock and various seating areas. When you step outside you have a stunning view of the volcano. The house sits on a private shared lot with a long gravel driveway that is lit by motion detectors at night. To enter the home you must enter a green gate walk this driveway and then open a 2nd gated entrance into the property. It is very secure. If you plan on going to Antigua to enjoy a combination of lazy & adventure days I highly recommend this property. When you arrive from a day of shopping or sightseeing you can melt into the soft sectional sofa and watch movies or cable TV in English. The kitchen is ample and can fit 3 people comfortably cooking. Natural light is ample and lovely. The lady that cleans is very nice and is happy to help out in an way possible. I've been to Antigua many times and this is the first I rented a home. It was nice to have a spacious place. The owner provides contact info for a massage therapist to come see you. It is not a hotel but if you are open to cooking and feeling like this is a 2nd home you'll be delighted. Enjoy!

We stayed in this charming 2 bedroom apt/house for 4 nights. The house is located 10 mn walk from the wonderful central market and grocery stores, and a 20mn walk to the central park or the la Merced church. We liked this place very much as it was very relaxing. We had stayed for about 1 month In Another gated community with lots of neighbors open space, pool, wonderful view of Agua volcanoe. We liked this private apt very much, but we also liked the friendships of neighbors, and foreigners we met in the Arcadia place. The apt comes with a cleaning lady, a very sour person who needed to be told What was needed to do, a bit strange. In the other place we payed for a cleaning person, happy and helpful and knowing what was needed to be done int the rented apt

I just stayed at this apartment house at the end of February and early March. I found the apartment very comfortable and spacious. The photos provided on VRBO were very useful in giving one an accurate idea of what to expect. The interior and exterior decor is a gracious blend of the new and the old. The apartment has a modern, fully outfitted kitchen, although I ate out the whole trip. The veranda was especially comfortable, private and a relaxed setting for reading, visiting with friends, running around naked or whatever suits your tastes. The owner and house manager were excellent with email and phone communications throughout the process. The location of the apartment was probably about eight blocks from the town's central park (town square), so the walk was easy. As for safety, I found the home to be very secure behind two securely locked solid iron gates. Even though the apartment doors themselves did not lock, it was not necessary given the specific design with the double locking gates. Overall, I would stay here again with no hesitation. It made my trip to Antigua a hassle free experience.

We loved this beautiful apartment. A little off the beaten track in Antigua, but still close enough to walk to everything. So stylish, I want my place at home to look this good. Will definitely stay here again.

My family and I were fortunate enough to be invited to a wedding in beautiful Antigua. We wanted to take advantage of our trip and so we booked for a weeklong stay in Becky’s beautiful home. Making the arrangements with Becky was really easy and I greatly appreciated the fact that she provided us with travel information about the city such as must-sees and where to dine. This place became our home for that week. Each morning we made coffee and had breakfast outside on the patio and then proceeded to plan the rest of our day. We quickly got familiar with the area and loved that our little home was close to the center of town but in a very quiet residential zone. It was a pleasure to have Leonor the housekeeper come daily because she was always willing to lend a hand in order to make sure we were enjoying our stay. This rental property comes with the added bonus of a cell phone which really came in handy because we were able to easily communicate with other friends who were also in town for the wedding. We really enjoyed our stay in Antigua. The city is truly beautiful, the people were charming, it serves as a great base for trips in and around Guatemala, but most importantly our pleasant vacation was owed in large part to Becky’s rental because it made us all feel welcome.

Owner response: Dear Miguel, Thank you so much for you very kind review. We are all delighted that you had a lovely stay in Antigua and at the house. Heidi (the manager) and Leonor (housekeeper) will be thrilled to receive your feedback. We do hope you will return and explore more of Guatemala on a future occasion. Very best wishes and safe travels - Becky xx

We just got home after spending two weeks in Becky's beautiful home. As some others have mentioned, as good as the photos are they still don't do justice to this exquisite property. Becky is a travel professional, so her home feels less like a vacation rental and more like a 5-star hotel with a whole lot of extra space. One immediately noticeable point was the quality of people that Becky has surrounded herself with. We were met at the airport by our driver, Alex, who spoke English very well and gladly brought us to a grocery store before continuing on to the house. Upon arriving, the caretaker, Leonor, greeted us to let us know that she was available anytime for cleaning, laundry, etc. Later, we met Heidi the property manager who was also incredibly polite and professional. This home is completely stocked with everything one would need for a short- or long-term stay -- coffee maker, two hair dryers, microwave, juicer, wonderful gas stove and oven, plenty of towels and linens -- you name it. The Internet was good and reliable, the flat-screen TV with surround sound was wonderful, and a large choice of movies was great for adults or kids. We spent most of our time outdoors, since the climate of Antigua is simply perfect. This house has an incredible amount of covered outdoor space, so even when an afternoon rain arrived a few of the days, we sat outside reading and enjoying the property. After two weeks of exploring Antigua and the immediate surrounding areas and neighborhoods, we realize just how special the location of this home really is. While Antigua is stunningly beautiful overall, this neihborhood was much quiter than most and had a very strong feeling of community. We spoke with many of the neighbors and shop owners on our daily walks and all said that they just love to live there, everyone is friendly, and it is one of the safest areas in Antigua. There are two local stores for buying a variety of basic goods, and the home is a 10-minute walk to town. For those who need any assistance, there are Tuk-Tuks all over the place and they are very cheap ($2) to the central park and can generally be found by exiting this property out the front gate, turning left and taking a short walk to the main road. I could go on for 10 pages about Antigua, the great restaurants, the markets, etc., but you really need to see it for yourself. This house is the PERFECT place for making your trip a special one. Thank you Becky, Alex, Leonor, Heidi, and Carlos!

This home looks like it is straight out of HGTV! The owner has done a wonderful job of mixing old world Antgua, fun lighting fixtures, local folk art, pottery and paintings with modern convenience and comfort. The photos truly do not do it justice. The home is very spacious and the outdoor living space really doubles the size of the usable space. Although we didn't cook during our brief visit, the kitchen is very well stocked and would be a pleasant place to prepare a meal for either the interior or exterior dining area. Becky was great to work with and accommodated our last minute reservation. The home is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the market and central park. Taxi's and tuk tuks are also readily available nearby and very inexpensive. The neighbor was quiet and we felt very safe. We have stayed in many VRBOs in many cities. Not only is this the one we have most enjoyed to date, it was also a great value. Thanks again Becky!

From the moment we walked in to this lovely home, decorated simply but beautifully. Comfortable beds and seatings, inside and out; private and quiet (except for the forewarned festive firecrackers at nite which stopped by 9). Great kitchen with all the amenities and stocked with essentials. Never turned on the TV or DVD but lots of good movies, especially Brit ones, available if so inclined. Although we brought books, there were several there for easy reading along with some wonderful art books. The three of us spent most of our time at the house outside under the covered patio with its wonderful aqua painted floor. Paula, the sweet housekeeper, kept the house immaculate and was hepful in many ways. Tourist books and pamphlets were available and an added and unexpected bonus was a local cell phone for our use. The internet connection was great. Our street was quiet and safe and easy walk or tuk tuk ride to the market or Central Park. All in all, a very enjoyable stay! Becky, thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I stayed in this gorgeous property for two months while I studied Spanish in Antigua in September and October. As other reviewers have said, the property is better than the photos and description and dealing with the owner was really easy. It's an easy walk to the centre of Antigua, the market, cafes and restaurants and is located in a quite, safe neighbourhood. The property is well-maintained and equipped as a home, rather than a holiday rental. The decor is contemporary and stylish and it's easy to feel at home here - as I had been travelling for seven months before i arrived in Antigua, this was especially relevant for me ; ) Leonor, the housekeeper, was hugely patient with me and my gradually improving Spanish, but I think she has a sixth sense, so anticipated everything and kept the property in immaculate condition during my stay. I will miss the hummingbirds that visit the garden daily and also the magnificent view of the volcano that's right out the front door. Thanks Becky for such a lovely stay in your home.

My husband, son and I stayed at this lovely home a few weeks ago. It was simply wonderful. In fact, we already miss it and feel like it was our "home away from home". We definitely plan on returning -- hopefully soon! It is a beautiful, spacious home -- perfect for the three of us (but it could house more people, very comfortably). It has a lovely Guatemalan feel to it -- but also has all of the amenities/luxuries of home. And it feels very safe, in a gated community. It is also quiet. After we had been out exploring Antigua and running around, sightseeing during the day, it was great to come home and cook a nice dinner and have a peaceful evening -- and sleep well. It is an easy walk to town -- and close to the grocery store. We also had a terrific housekeeper. We had a few issues with the wifi service and the refrigerator in the beginning, but these were taken care of immediately. I can't say enough great things about this property. As I said before, we will definitely be returning to Antigua and this perfect vacation home!

Thank you Becky for letting my mom and I stay in your wonderful home. Today is my first day back in California, and I already wish I was back in the yard reading my book and listening to the amazing sounds of the birds. I'm already planning when I can return again and will definitely be staying at the house. For those looking to stay in a charming, stylish home in Antigua, you've found it. This photos don't do it justice and you'll easily feel like you have more than enough space with 4 people. We had two and relished the spaciousness. The home is located in a quiet area about 20 minutes walk to Park Central. It's decorated with some beautiful art and carvings from the area. A couple of helpful hints that I think are good to mention. Before getting to the house stop by the large supermarket right as you enter town to stock up on staples. It makes mornings great when you can wake up, make some coffee, have some toast and jam all in 75 degree weather on the back porch. My mom and I made it our routine. Also, make sure to buy some soap for the bathroom/shower. I had to use shampoo for a day before going back to the store to purchase. No big deal but good to know. Sensitive sleepers should be aware that there are skylights in each room and the sun rises early (6 am in April) so a sleep mask is helpful. Also worth noting for those who sleep in a little longer, the maid comes daily at around 8:30 am. She's so sweet, but I think it's just good to know when she's coming so that you're not caught off guard. She was so helpful and nice and we really liked having her around daily. What a treat! Oh and two great restaurant finds. We loved Rainbow Cafe for its laid back hippy vibe and the restaurant among the ruins at Hotel Santo Domingo is not to be missed. Just be sure to make reservations. Thanks again Becky! Can't wait to come back.

My two sisters and I spent the month of January in this lovely little house. We were very comfortable in the two twin beds and the queen. For the last two weeks we were joined by a friend who slept comfortably on the ample sofa. I felt the explanation and pictures on this side provided accurate information. I would recommend to other's who are looking for a quiet retreat to be with friends and family and do some exploring/sightseeing. I would deffinately recommend to my friends and family. The temperature in the day was sunny and 70's and at night a lovely 50ish and perfect for comfortable sleeping. Leanor, the housekeeper was very efficient with keeping the house clean and in order and also did our laundry on a daily basis, changing linens once weekly and cleaning up after us in the kitchen when we were anxious to get out for an early adventure. We ate most of our at home meals out on the patio and played cards into the evening as the light on the patio was excellent and the night breeze was lovely. We really appreciated the lovely kitchen facilities, the large screen television and the extensive movie library. Our ony complaints were the noise from a section of the patio cover that flapped inssessently in strong wind, the off and on access to the wifi and running out of hot water on the last day (a day when Leanor was not there to change over the tank). These things however, did not sway us in our pleasure with the little house on Callejjon del Burrito. We loved the city and the surrounding area and hope to return in the future.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your comments Linda. We will definitly get that roofing fixed and could have done that whilst you were there had you mentioned it so I'm really sorry about that. The wi-fi situation was indeed annoying and was due to a big power surge that we had suffered just before you arrived. We hope to have that all sorted out now as well. So sorry about the hot water situation - the draw backs of not having mains gas in Guatemala!! Thank you again for booking with us and for your very helpful feedback and we hope that you will be able to return to Antigua again one day. Very best, Becky

We had a wonderful time in Antigua, Christmas eve and new years eve the place was like a war zone with fireworks all night. The garden at the house is beautiful and we had many of our meals out in the garden. We experienced a few problems with utilities, but when we called VBRO it seemed that someone arrived to fix things before I had put the phone down. Everyone associated with the property was very pleasant. We love Antigua. The location of the property is ideal just far enough from the center of town to be quiet (except as mentioned above!) and yet close enough to the central park to be an easy comfortable walk. Wear shoes that will allow you to negotiate the cobble stones.

Our family (myself, my husband, and two kids, ages 6 and 7) loved this house. The house is in a beautiful, quiet, and secure compound. The view of the volcano (Agua) as one enters the compound (or comes out of the house) is spectacular. The location is great, just a 10-minute walk from the Parque Central in Antigua and minutes from the market. The house itself is lovely, with two large bedrooms, a fully equipped, modern, and very functional kitchen, a dining area with a large, wooden table, and a very comfortable living room with a TV that worked very well. It was bigger and better (quieter and more lovely) than I thought it would be from the photos. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio at all times of the day. It is covered so that even when it rained we could enjoy it. The garden is full of flowers and very private (but not quite big enough to kick a ball). And, we had better internet service than we have at home.

The photos and description are accurate: home is lovely, impeccably clean, nicely decorated and walking distance to everywhere unless you're in a hurry. Wait! You're on vacation, why hurry? We usually took cabs or tuktuks at night. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed eating breakfast in the beautiful garden. Housekeeper was helpful and reliable and washed our clothes for us one day. Owner was well organized and keeps a notebook in the house with useful info about the home and Antigua, also had some food and flowers on hand to welcome us--very nice! Good TV, lots of DVDs to watch, internet connection AOK! The only thing we wished for there were screens or ceiling fans; without either the mosquitoes are a bit of a problem during rainy season; plug in mosquito controls weren't effective. Seems strange to gringos that such a nice home wouldn't have ceiling fans or screens. You don't need AC in Antigua but fresh air --or at least circulating air -- is nice. Still, a good place to stay and we recommend it.

This home is true tropical comfort, and nestled near the edge of oldtown Antigua, it is a perfect location to explore the town's fascinating streets and alleys, both the busy bustling areas as well as the quiet, simpler ones. The markets and bakeries are a 10-minute walk away, and daily we would buy fresh pineapples, mangoes, and rolls and bring them to our well-equipped kitchen where we made fresh juice to have with our morning rolls and pastries and Guatamalan coffee. We ate our breakfast outside in the tropical garden! Step outside the walls of the home, and be greeted by an unobstructed view of one of the area's three volcanoes. The owner and her entire staff anticipated and accommodated our every need. The housekeeper was delightful (even took our laundry from the line and folded it on our bed!) With two large bedrooms and two baths, this home is a perfect place for a family or for two couples to enjoy Antigua in simple, elegant comfort. In Antigua, we explored restaurants, bars, the multitude of food markets and artisan markets, and were delighted by the friendliness and helpfulness of the local people. We scored this five stars, but if we could give it six, , we would not hesitate. This was our first trip to Guatamala, but will definitely not be our last.

The house was wonderful *(and beautiful) and your hospitality and that of Leonore were so greatly appreciated. We found ourself growing fonder of Guatamala with each passing day, and we walked probably every street and ally in town (measured 12 to 15 miles per day just walking in town!) getting to know all of Antigua. Just what we wanted on this trip! Your commitment to wise use and conservation of resources (recycling, minimizing waste, saving electricity and water with careful use, etc.) impressed us and we are grateful to you for sharing that philosopy with the people of Antigua (and visitors). Carlos is a treasure for your company that you need to protect! Our friends never were able to join us, so it was just us going and coming in the van, and we spoke energetically in both Spanish and English with Carlos, as he shared travel information, political information, philosophical information, talked about the NGOs in Guatamala, and on and on. He holds you in highest regard, couldn't say enough good stuff about you, and loves working for your company. He is humble and warm, and was a perfect introduction to the Guatamalan people for us. Thanks for all you did to make our stay enjoyable, I know it's a business venture for you, but you've managed to infuse a sense of hospitality that truly was appreciated.

This wonderful home was everything we hoped for and more! It's in a quiet area yet still just a few blocks from all the activities surrounding Central Park, it has an awesome view of Volcan Agua, the home was incredibly clean and organized with all the modern conveniences. This is where to stay when you want to eliminate stress and replace it with peace and tranquility -- no matter how active or passive your time in Guatemala will be! The bedrooms are spacious and nicely furnished, the living room is huge and comfortable, as are the kitchen and dining areas. There's a beautiful garden and patio, I loved reading my book and having coffee every morning on the patio, to ease gently into another day. It's only about 5 blocks from great restaurants, bars, Central Park, and ruins, and there's a little tienda right up the street where you can pick up a few bottles of water, juice, beer and snacks to stock the fridge with. I've stayed there several times, every time there have been hummingbirds in the garden! I'll be going back soon and can't wait!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
