Beautiful family sized home with easy and private Guadalupe River access. This is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Texas Hill Country. We’re ten minutes west of Hunt along one of the prettiest stretches of country road in Texas – convenient to summer camps and off-season activities.

We're high enough on the hill to have tree top views of the Guadalupe River Valley and just a short hike down the trail to the home owner association river park with canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats. There is a private dam just below the park so the water stays high even in the driest summers.

The house will sleep nine: There is a queen bed and private bathroom with tub in the master. The upstairs bedroom has its own balcony and private bathroom with shower. The middle two bedrooms have a trundle bed (2 singles - great for kids), a single and double bed and share a bath with laundry room.

The dining area seats eight – six at the table and two at the breakfast bar. The family room has a high beam ceiling and a large sliding glass window to enjoy the view. If you can’t leave your technology at home there is wireless internet and satellite TV. The house has every amenity needed for a comfortable stay (oven, fridge, dishwasher, fresh linens, etc). Nothing extra is needed; just bring some groceries, a bathing suit and free time to enjoy it!

Outside we have two spacious decks with Hill Country views. Drink your morning coffee on the side deck and watch the sun rise. Enjoy an evening glass of wine while star gazing on the front deck. Guests often see deer and fox passing through the yard. There is a hammock, a porch swing, and outside eating area with gas grill.

Small dogs considered individually: We understand that pets are a part of the family. At the same time, we have to keep in mind that guests with allergies cannot tolerate any trace of a pet in the house. Dogs weighing less than 20 pounds will be allowed on prior approval only with a pet charge of $10 per day per pet, $500 refundable pet deposit, and a non-refundable pet cleaning fee of $50. No cats.

My family had a great time at this Hunt vacation house. The location of the house is very private, sitting on top of a hill with a great view. It is an easy walk to a great stretch of river for swimming or using the canoes and kayaks that come with the house. The house itself was nice, set up well, had little things that you need for a short stay but are a pain to bring. The owner Michelle was very good and fast at communicating. All in all it was everything we hoped it would be and more!

My friends and I had an amazing stay at the beautiful river house in Hunt! The house was clean and welcoming, and had all the things we needed. The rooms were a great size, and there were plenty of bathrooms for everyone. Our favorite part of the house was the amazing outdoor space. Their was ample room for people to sit and for the kids to run around. I just wish we could have taken advantage of the two fire pit areas.... maybe next time! The walk to the river wasn't too much of a hassle, and it was nice to have a private area on the river where toys, tables, and swings to use. I would definitely recommend this home to any group of family our friends looking for a great place to getaway for a short or long stay!

This was a wonderful place to spend our summer getaway. The house is comfortable inside and out. The decks outside offer great views during the day and awesome stargazing at night. The river access is super - a very short walk down the hill across the road. The private park at the river had all the kids (ages 3 to 13) thoroughly entertained. The older kids kayaked and explored the flats, while the little ones just splashed around and watched the fish swimming in the clear water. The other highlight was sliding down the dam at Ingram. We paid $3 to park at the Dam Store and kids had a blast for hours. We had a nice lunch at the friendly Hunt Store. Mom and oldest daughter enjoyed a tour of the James Avery headquarters just outside Kerrville. Mostly though, we just played at the river. There were games and a nice TV and DVD player at the house for downtime. Owners are helpful and easy to work with. All in all this was a great place for our family!

First of all....the pictures don't show the beautiful view seen from the decks around the property!! There is plenty of comfortable outdoor seating for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors. My group of 8 and 1 dog spent the weekend sitting on the decks and floating in the river. We had everything we needed! The private river access was perfect. My sons (27, 25, 21) had plenty to "play" with including kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats. It was really nice to have a private place to enjoy the water and not have to deal with crowds. You feel very secluded even though there's a Walmart within 15 miles (you never know when you're going to need one)! Michelle provided all the information we needed regarding dining and other activities nearby. Even with so many of us, we slept well, had plenty of room to gather around the kitchen, and even watch the olympics. With 3 bathrooms, we never had to wait or rush someone. We saw a fox while on the deck and plenty of fireflies down by the river one evening. It was perfect for us! I hope to go back with a group of girlfriends. I would recommend this property to all my friends!

Owner response: Thank you giving our house such a glowing review! We are very thankful to have found this place and to know our guests enjoy it as much as we do is very gratifying. BTW - our website launched this week and we will be posting more pictures of the views from the decks soon!

I highly , highly reccommend this place to all my friends, relatives & neighbors. It is gorgeous inside, outside & on the drive to & from. It's very secluded, relaxing & fun. I can't imagine any thing making it better unless it didn't take 4.5 hrs to get to from our house. The owners were very helpful & the house & property are very well kept. There's plenty to do down the hill at the Guadalupe River & we usually also go tubing at the Frio(a beautiful hr. drive). If you like shopping in unique stores, there's plenty in Kerrville, Boerne & Fredericksburg(30 min. away) There are lots of arts/craft places near Hunt. We like to ck out the Stonehenge II for pics. The scenic overlook on way to Concan is def. worth the trip as well. M.O. Camp has a cool slide & nice swim hole. Crider's has a nice rodeo every Sat nite & fish frys on Fri nites. Fireflys come out along the river at night & there is a paddleboat, kayak, canoe, grills, tables, firerings & a rope swing for you to enjoy. There is lots of wildlife to see when you look for it. We can't wait to go back.....

This is a comfortable, wonderful property. We slept 7 very comfortably and could have slept 8. Everyone commented that it felt like home, as the couches are comfy and everything is nicely done. A very good value for 7! Internet, TV and other amenities that I don't normaly find in hill country rentals added to the comfort. The several decks and patios made our annual hill country gathering the best, accomodating several additional dinner guests. The view from the side deck is just a lovely place to start or end the day. The river spot is great, with wheel paddle boat and kayaks; the kids loved it. Our 60+ relatives were able to navigate the short path and stairs that go directly to the river. Though there are other houses nearby, this spot at the top of the hill, with its great views, feels completely secluded. And thank you owners for not only allowing pets, but being gracious about it. Our gathering would not be complete without the family dog!

Owner response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay! We're happy to allow a small well trained dog now and then. The pet fee covers the extra cleaning to ensure the next guests can't tell we allow pets at all! Just to be clear - it was 60 year old plus guests and not 60 plus guests going down the trail to the river. We have a max occupancy of 9!

Pictures can't do this property justice! The location, though easily accessible, appears isolated. You won't see any neighbors except for the wildlife. The perks that come along far outweigh the pleasure you will get out of the living quarters which, by the way, are way cool! Private river access, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats are a bonus! This property is just off what I believe to be the prettiest stretch of country road in ALL of Texas. I mean, you are following the Guadalupe river in either direction through tunnels of trees. How cool is that? You have to see it to believe it. I will be renting this place again soon, and so will the others that came along with me. You won't be disappointed!

The outdoor area was very private & peaceful. We saw foxes & deer. The stars are amazing! The walk to the river down below was easy & close. The river was crystal clear & cool. The private park was great! We used the kayak's & paddle boat. I would recommend this property to family & friends.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 2011

About the owner: Danny grew up in Del Rio and San Antonio and has family in and around Kerrville. He introduced Michelle to Texas Hill Country in Hunt. We both fell in love with the Guadalupe River and it's beautiful cypress tree canopy on one of Michelle's first visits to Hill Country. We live full time in Anchorage, Alaska and plan to spend more time each year at our home in Hunt.

                      Why the Owner Chose Hunt:
We love the Hunt area and the Guadalupe River! We stayed at many vacation rentals in the area before we decided we want to retire here. The accessibility of the river park without the riverside price was what drew us to this particular house. It feels so private - other riverside rentals we stayed in have neighbors right next door or multiple rentals on-site. Even though we're in a subdivision - it feels like we're out in the country. The previous owner's western decor made it feel homey right away and - did we mention - the Guadalupe River is just down the trail?

The Unique Benefits at this House:
One of the things we most look forward to when staying at our Hunt vacation house is family gatherings on the huge deck. After all the years of living away and counting on someone else to hold a get together when we visit - we finally get to host them!
