Location: approximately 1/2 hour to Kirkwood Ski Resort, South Lake Tahoe, Sierra At Tahoe, and the Carson Valley. The Grover Hot Springs & State Park is just 5 minutes drive. Hope Valley is 15 minutes drive and offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, vast snowmobile areas, and dog sled rides. In the summer there is fishing, hiking, lakes/swimming in the immediate area. Lake Tahoe is an easy, short drive with endless activities and entertainment for all.
This vacation home is three years young and the great room will welcome you as your home-away-from-home. This mountain retreat is tastefully decorated and family friendly, located in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by pines.
The gourmet kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, just bring the food. The master bedroom and great room have gas fireplaces that turn on with a switch. In the summer enjoy the huge deck while utilizing the gas BBQ. In the winter the children can sled on the property. The near-by hot springs are well maintained by the State and offer great rejuvenation qualities and a pool for swimming,(hot springs drained daily).
The sleepy, charming, historic town of Markleeville is 5 minutes drive with a general store, deli, restaurant/bar, library, museum and post office. Markleeville hosts a yearly bicycle event called the "Death Ride" which is popular among bicycle enthusiasts. Whether you are are an outdoor enthusiast or are looking for a retreat, this home offers it.

My family and I stayed a week at this lovely house. This was our second visit. The house is beautiful and the kitchen is very well appointed. We have three children and the house is a great size for us. Some friends even came and spent a couple of nights while skiing nearby, and there was plenty of beds and bathrooms for all of us. It is a very quiet and peaceful location with a nice little sledding hill right in the back yard. There is so much to do close by -- skiing, snowshoeing, the hot springs (which we love) as well as wilderness and beautiful snow! Steve and Anne are wonderfully friendly and always available for questions and local information. We hope to return next year as well!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
