A quiet gem
A quiet gem
My wife and I had an excellent three week stay at this cabin a couple of miles outside Greenville. The cabin and its location are beautiful. The cabin is partly shaded and well insulated, so it can be kept cool during the heat of the day. It faces a quiet, grassy corral, set well back from the road, with interesting wildlife (deer, wild turkey, birds). Sitting on the porch is a real pleasure. Indian Valley, visible through the trees, is large and handsome. A smaller counterpart, Genessee Valley, with its appealing store/restaurant, is not far off. The area has few tourists, and people are correspondingly friendly and helpful. The family that owns the cabin are respectful, energetic and supportive, providing additional equipment and facilities on request. Eating out options are limited, but local food supplies are good - oddly enough, apart from fresh fish, that is. The appealing county town, Quincy, is about 40 minutes away. The interesting hikes all take some driving to get to, but it's possible to be on the trail in time to enjoy the cool of the morning. We particularly liked the hike to Gold Lake in the Bucks Lake Wilderness Area, and the one to Devil's Kitchen in Lassen Volcanic National Park. We'd be very happy to stay here again.

We stayed at this peaceful little cabin out in Greenville and had a great time. The family that owns the place built it themselves and are extremely sweet and accommodating people. They went out of their way to provide us with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. They even offered to take my 12 year old son to the local rodeo on the 4th of July and their sons took him swimming with them in the creek on their ranch. They provided firewood for the fire pit in the yard, which their boys delivered to us one night. Unfortunately it was too hot to make a fire. The ranch is a paradise that they very generously shared with us. We had fun hanging out on the ranch, playing basketball one night in their barn and visiting the small town of Greenville. We went to the local rodeo one day and hiked around the many lakes and Mt. Lassen National Park. The cabin has everything you need, but you'll have to bring all the basic ingredients if you want to cook. All they have in the kitchen (aside from dishes, cleaning stuff and appliances) is salt and pepper. There is a grocery store in the town where you can buy just about anything you need. I was surprised to find a decent amount of health foods such as: organic produce, kombucha, good coffee and organic dairy products. I wanted some fresh fish, but this was nowhere to be found. Just frozen farmed fish. There are only a few restaurants in town which include a pizza place, a cafe with fish and chips and mexican fare, a dark and depressing bar with guys that look like they never leave. I heard that that the cafe (Anna's) is decent, but it was closed the two times we tried to go so we ended up eating at the pizza place, which was good. If you are a couple with a child and want privacy, you can move the mattress from the couch bed downstairs for your kid, although there are no doors to close off the upstairs. If you go, bring a bike. There are some great biking roads around the valley and beautiful scenery.

Excellent Vacation Stay
Excellent Vacation Stay
Thank you for sharing your cabin with us as we enjoyed the wonderful stay. You provided everything we needed with cute decor and the cabin was very clean. Your hospitality was so welcoming, you made us feel at home offering us walks around your 400 acre ranch and answering so many questions that we had. We were able to explore many beautiful mountain lakes in the area along with fishing and hiking and checking out the Indian Valley area with a great bike ride. With Lake Almanor being a short drive up the hill we were able to spend some time there and visit the town of Chester. We will be back in the future as we enjoyed our stay tremendously and we will pass this on to all our friends and relatives. Thank You!

The cabin was very clean; there were NO misrepresentations. This cabin is situated in an enclave of 2 other cabins (totaling 3); all with a Southwards' exposure spaced around an open meadow. The advertised photos were accurate; the residence had all modern fixtures & appliances. The owners were very cordial, and prompt in answering any/all questions I asked about the area. I 'd verify cellular coverage w/ your provider prior to visiting if that's important to you, as I experienced difficulties getting any signals in that region. It is a very quiet, relaxing environment where you can hear yourself breathe-and stream/lake fishing is everywhere!
