Our stay here was great. The views were so beautiful! We loved the central location so we could really see Maui. We loved the emaculate grills just below our condo. My husband would grill, and we would wave to him from the lanai. We saw many turtles right from our lanai! Plus, dinner on our lanai was so awesome. Everything worked well, and we appreciated the extra towels. The price of this condo is a fabulous deal and helped us enjoy our vacation even more.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in unit #215 at Maalaea Kai in Maui. When you walk in to the unit the first thing you see is that awesome view right out to the ocean. We liked the location, easy to get to either side of the island. We also enjoyed the lovely sound of the waves and the cool breezes. We had a great 4 days at Dawn's place. It was clean and just what we need to relax and enjoy a bit of sand and sea on Maui.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We saw whales soon after our arrival right off our lanai! More action and amazing displays by mother and baby than we saw on a whale watching tour. Maalaea is an excellent, central, quiet setting. It was a treat to have coffee on the lanai and to take morning walks on the close-by beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I was fortunate to find and reserve this Condo for almost 30 days and it was absolutely beautiful...from the ocean frontage to the whales you could watch from the lanai! Very conveniently located on Ma'alaea Bay and right on the ocean. The Condo itself is lovely and has been updated and recently painted. The solar heated pool is a treat; there are good restaurants and whale watching boats within walking distance. This is a great value and perfect for one couple.....hope I can reserve again when I return to Maui!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We enjoyed an amazing week in Ma'alaea. The well-appointed condo is in a quiet, adult-oriented complex. The condo is very clean, with an amazing view of the harbour, and has all the basics for a self sufficient holiday. The complex amenities are well maintained with laundry and pool on site. We are looking forward to going back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I have to say I didn't expect luxury accomodations at the reduced price for this condo but I think maybe nicer linens and dishes would have been greatly appreciated. As the last person pointed out, chipped mismatched dishes, Christmas glasses and mugs and raggedy towels made it seem kind of shabby. All in all we didn't spend a lot to time there and the lanai was great and the mattress was wonderful. The cleaning crew had been there so we didn't have the problems the last tenants had. I just think next time we will spend a little more money and hope to have a nicer experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: I put in new dishes, glasses, tupperware, and pots and pans on Sept 30th, 2011. That was the soonest I could get there from Los Angeles after the comment at the beginning of the month. There was also a new sink put in the kitchen and new toilet. I try to be very responsive to visitors needs while keeping the cost as inexpensive during these tough economic times. We replace towels and linens every 3 - 4 months. As always, I appreciate your comments as they help me to improve service for future renters.

Kitchen Very Dirty

9/8/11 We have left the condo and I wanted you to know some things. When we arrived at the condo there was water inside the door. There was water outside the door but wasn't raining. I did not see an inventory list just the binder of expectations. Just wanted you to know how we found your condo. It was dirty. In the kitchen there was coffee dripped down the cabinets and down the stove. The microwave had stuff inside it and drips of something on the outside. The vent hasn't been cleaned in awhile. The dishes were all mismatched and chipped. I think you could do better on the dishes and drinking glasses; it isn't Christmas. The laminate on the silverware drawer is peeling off and the drawers are dirty. Actually, all the cabinets inside and out are dirty. The cabinet door next to the dishwasher has dirt on it's ledge. The dishwater has dirt all over it and in the buttons. The blender has food stuck on it and the buttons are filled with dirt. The frig door in places are black from dirt or the material is coming off. The sink is all bubbled up from rust and decay. The lights in the kitchen are full of bugs. Even the black box and phone was quite dusty as well as the 2 lights in the hall. There were no dish rags so I took a dish towel from the drawer to wipe the table and both towels had brown stains all over them. The kitchen table had a film and dust all over it. The TV tray that you have as an end table has water rings and brown stuff on it which looks like spilled soda. The whole kitchen is a bacteria zone from the grout of the tiles to the dirty foiled covered stove liners. Needless to say we did not fix food there. We did not plan on eating out but there was no way we were going to use one thing in that kitchen. Every wall in the whole condo has spill marks on them and in many places the paint is chipped. The bathroom vanity had a yellow film all around the faucet. On the tub side of the toilet at the bottom had dried on urine and dust. The side facing the door was clean. There was not enough wash cloths. Some wash cloths have stains in the middle of the rags. We had to wash every other day. Your VRBO ad says you have a washer and a dryer and you don't the ad should of said there is one available for a charge. The TV in the bedroom doesn't work. 1 of 2Owner response: I am very sorry that you had such a miserable experience in the condo. I only wish that you would have called so that I could have had the cleaners go in and clean the kitchen if it was that dirty. I list my number, the cleaner's number, my mom's number and the resident manager's number on all the paper work. The cleaner lives in the building next to the condo and is very available to guests if there is a problem. After receiving the e mail from you after your visit, I had another cleaning crew go in for a deep cleaning in the kitchen. The kitchen sink is being replaced this week as well as all the kitchenware. I am always doing work to improve the condo while keeping the cost so people can afford in this economy. I always appreciate feedback. We have been renting for over 20 years with very little negative comments from guests.

Unit is superbly located. Views from lanai are fabulous (think turtle & whale watching up close & personal). 1 bedroom unit could use an overhaul of accent pillows, linens, all bedding, mattresses, deep cleaning of bathroom and bedroom rugs to make it an even better place to stay! Maalaea harbor and Maui bus stop just a short walk away. Beach Bums bar/bistro a fun place to eat! Recommended excursions: Quicksilver tour to Molokini & Turtle Town; Cruiser Phil's Haleakala downhill bike ride; lunch/dinner in Pa'ia (Chez des Amis, Moana Restaurant). Huli Huli chicken (authentic grill) just north of Lahaina (week-ends) as roadside sales.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

Why the Owner Chose Maalaea:
We fell in love with the great ocean view. You could not be closer to the ocean unless you were on it in a boat. I love hearing the waves crash all day from the lanai. The condo is centrally located to all the activities on Maui. Great ocean breezes.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Great views of the the whales during the winter and great views of Molikini. I love the BBQ on the ocean. The beach that you can walk on all the way to Kihei. The aquarium is a short walk as is the harbor for a boat trip to Lanai or Molikini. This is a great place to relax and unwind from the stresses of life.
