  Clean and comfortable with thick American towels and all thesimple amenities you need. The owners are on site, very kind and helpful. In fact, Jeff spent an extra 20 minutes from his busy day to check my room to see if I lost a valuable after leaving the premises. Now that's service! The neighborhood is" to die for." Will Be back without heistation. Jeff, just make sure I get my room when I request it!

  This is a beautifully designed studio apartment, with its own entrance on a quiet street right off one of the 'coolest' streets in Jerusalem. A very short stroll to anything you need - cafes, restaurants, the best swim club in Jerusalem, and stores with the best fresh baked breads, French cheeses, and sumptuous fruits and vegetables. We love walking everywhere from here, as it is well situated, but you can also get taxis or buses to anywhere you want in the city. The studio is small, but thoughtfully laid out with seating and dining areas comfortable for two, and with such high ceilings, you can stand up with plenty of room to spare in the sleeping loft. The decor and furnishing is cheerful and tasteful, the bed comfortable, and so much storage that we stayed a whole month, and were able to keep everything tidy. The American owners are helpful and kind, and they make sure the apartment is clean and well maintained, . We'll never stay anywhere else.

  The apartment is perfect for a couple or someone traveling alone. The apartment is clean and orderly and is well equiped. It is about a 20min walk to the Old City. It is also only a few blocks away from Emek Refaim. There are a lot of coffee shops, restaurants, and also a supermarket on this street. Many of the city bus lines have stops close to the apartment, which makes getting around the city very traveler-friendly. I would recommend this apartment to a traveler and would also be happy to stay again if I come back to Jerusalem.

  As advertised, this studio apartment is in a great location; you can easily walk to shops, restaurants and markets. A 5-minute cab ride will get you to the old city. Plus, the hosts are very accomodating. While it is not luxurious, it does have all the amenities you need. Overall, we were quite pleased.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing.

  What a treat it was for us to drive down this beautiful street in the taxi from the airport and arrive at the picture-perfect Arab house in Baka which housed the guest unit we had rented. We were greeted by the owners and shown the apartment, which was perfect for us. The apartment was clean, quiet and well-equipped...and the location cannot be beat. it was easy to walk to so many restaurants and great shopping, and having access to the Emek Rephaim pool during the summer was a real perk. We would definitely stay here again.

  My husband and I were thrilled to find this cozy, immaculate studio just walking distance to the heart of the German Colony. The owners were so helpful in directing us to great restaurants, sites and attractions. The apartment was equipped with everything we needed -- a comfortable bed, an efficiency kitchen and a nice bathroom. it's ground floor location and private entrance made it so easy to come and go and we loved the privacy. That said, whenever we needed something or had a question all it took was a knock on the door. Shimshon is a beautiful leafy street and Baka is such a magical neighborhood --- and the renovated Arab house has all the charm that we had hoped to find in Jerusalem, with the modern amenities that made it so comfortable and convenient. within 2 minutes we were able to walk out and get our morning coffee at Cafe Aroma, pick up a newspaper and begin our day. Because the apartment is so centrally located, it was always easy to come back mid-day to rest or refuel. Overall, it was a great experience for us and we would definitely come back to stay...Jeff and Deena were wonderful hosts, the apartment was ideal and Jerusalem is place that we never tire of.

  The apartment is fantastic; a great value and in a terrific neighborhood. The street is quiet yet a few steps away are many places to eat, shop, etc. Further, the apartment is close to many attractions such as the old city. The landlords are terrific. Jeff Friedman is a real mensch; always helpful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  These are small, pleasant studio units on a quiet street in Baka, perfectly located near the fashionable boutiques and wonderful restaurants of Emek Refaim. The proprietors are pleasant, solicitous, and flexible. And I had a great experience making arrangements from the States; couldn't have been smoother. The units are modest, but perfectly comfortable. But what really distinguishes them is location. And it just can't be beat.

  I had a great experience with the room rental. The owners live right next store which was very helpful for when I had questions or needed assistance. They were very helpful when I ran into problems with my rental phone and assisted me with names and numbers of taxi companies. As a woman traveling by myself, I appreciated knowing that although I had the privacy of my own room, they were also very close by should I need them. I stayed in both apartments and enjoyed my visit. There was never any question regarding payment etc.....the emails were quite clear in this regard.

  Small apartment, somewhat worn, more or less as described-actually lists 2 apartments and unclear as to which is which (one garden, one not)and which is available. Can handle 2 people definitely not 3. The downside, poor communication and unpreparedness for our arrival. Sent a deposit check on 9/21 as requested and I requested a confirmation of receipt by email (2x). As I didn't receive one, I phoned from the States a week before our trip (10/15) to be sure it had arrived and all was well. She seemed unsure that the deposit had come, but ultimately agreed that it had. My husband and I arrived in Jerusalem on Friday late afternoon, just prior to Sabbath (in Jerusalem most business, transit etc stops for 24 hours in respect to the day) -Deena's very gracious husband was clearly not expecting us and neither was the room. He made an attempt to put it in order, but it required a serious cleaning-bathroom filthy-copious hair in sink and shower caked on food on the silverware, no top sheet on the bed. I cleaned the bathroom myself as it was too late to do anything else. We spent three nights there,but would have left after Sabbath it something else were available. As our booking of this was "unsure", I have to say I was not completely surprised. If this studio was tended to and clean, it could be a nice affordable place in the lovely neighborhood of Baka Website says checks accepted, but Deena insisted on cash which we did not have. In the end she settled on check payment as the VRBO listing states is accepted and took no responsibility for the state of the studio. If you do choose to book, be sure to clarify also which studio you are renting. We had a wonderful trip in general, but this was a poor experience and I would not recommend it.

  Owner response: In the many years that we have been renting, we have been very lucky to have had only super nice, friendly and well-mannered tenants who were always appreciative of our efforts and hospitality. Unfortunatley, I guess at some point luck runs out and you come across very difficult people who will not be happy with anything -- this was definitely the case with this couple. Unhappy and unpleasant from the getgo. We enjoy meeting and welcoming all of our guests and often have the opportunity to get to know them personally, which is always a treat. We look forward to welcoming people to Jerusalem and helping them enjoy this amazing city!
