My husband and I, our 4 kids (ages 5,7,9,11) and my parents stayed at Jackie's cottage over Labor Day weekend. We had a great time. It was just what we were looking for. The kids were able to fish, kayak (we brought our own kayaks), paddleboat and swim. The location on the little canal by the dam was perfect for letting the kids take the kayaks/boat out by themselves. We could see them easily. They caught lots of little fish off the dock. They also enjoyed swimming. It was clear and shallow right off the dock and they didn't seem to mind the weeds even when they went farther away. Our only suggestion would be some type of ladder off of the end of the dock since it was harder for the youngest/oldest to get out of the water once they went in. (Could get out at shore but very weedy). The house was great too. Everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes/cookware/utensils. Often when we travel as a family of 6 we find there are not enough dishes/utensils! Not the case here. The washer/dryer came in handy especially for those wet towels. My parents enjoyed relaxing in the yard and watching the grandkids have fun! The kids have already put the cottage on their "must-do" list for 2013! So glad the kids were able to experience all the fun of the lake in such a great setting!

Even though the weather was cool and rainy, my week at Jackie's lake house was very enjoyable and relaxing. The house is spotless and beautiful, with all the comforts and conveniences of home. The area is very peaceful and the neighbors friendly. The yard and dock are great for enjoying a book or just watching the ducks, geese and blue heron. Within walking distance are a produce/bakery stand and an ice cream stand. I also discovered a wonderful area for anyone that is a nature lover - Lime Hollow Nature Center in Cortland. This free-of-charge center features wooded and open trails bordering streams, ponds and bogs, along with plant and wildlife. Jackie's house is first-rate and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Our stay at Jackie's house was great! We brought our tandem kayak and toured the lake-it's a beautiful little lake. We also took the paddleboat out for a run as well. When we stayed it was EXTREMELY hot-during the day and just one night it was a little unbearable, the other nights, although hot out it was comfortable sleeping weather. Jackie was nice enough to let us use a fan for the living room/dining room area. We went fishing off the dock-although not much was caught other than little sunnies, we had fun. It is a quiet area, perfect for my children. We were looking for a getaway not too far from home, but far enough to escape! We went to nearby Skaneateles, and fell IN LOVE...it is a MUST see when visiting, only about a half hour or so away-we went back 3 days! There is a park at the other end of Little York Lake that is perfect for little ones. We also took a trip into Cortland and visited the little shops there. The comforts of home are all in close proximity as there is a Tops and Walmart and other chain stores nearby in case you need something...even an Aldi! Jackie was extremely helpful, and was quick to answer any questions that we had. If you are looking for a lakehouse, without paying too much for a vacation, this is a great quality place to stay!

We just came back from a lovely week at the lake. Our group of three was an age range of 77 to 6 years old. We all throughly enjoyed our time there. Walking into the house feels like visiting a friend. Comfortable furniture throughout, well decorated with tasteful interesting pictures provide a pleasant atmosphere. The house is well cared for and maintained. Every item thought of has been provided for you. The kitchen is well for cooking, a grill is avail. too. I love the layout of the house. From the kitchen, dining table, and living room you have a beautiful view of the lake. The lower level was well lit with sunlight and looked out towards the lake. The lawn is large and flat (for those of you who have difficulty walking this is an excellent location) with mature trees providing shade as needed. Outside there where several seating options: chairs near a fire pit, a shaded table with more chairs, a scroll work bench over looking flowers water and trees and a long beautiful dock (I have to say it is the best property on the lake). We all fell in love with the kayak which is also provided. The lake is warm and smooth... perfect for those to learn to kayak. The neighborhood is safe and friendly, easy to walk around. There is a theater at the other end of lake with a huge park. While boats are allowed, the lake has not been over run by them. As a side... the internet connection was much appreciated. We look forward to staying again.

We're three couples who lived next door to each other thirty years ago, when the guys were all in the Navy. We're from different parts of the country, and we try to meet for a few days together every year to "catch up" on life with each other. We found bed and breakfast places too restricting, so tried Jackie's house in Homer on the lake. Our week in early June was absolutely perfect! The house suited us to a "T". The only drawback we found was that we had to schedule around the one bathroom - but even that became fun! We found great places to eat dinners, and the kitchen was perfect for our other meals. Even the table proved to be plenty big enough for us three gals to sit over a jigsaw puzzle and gab while the guys watched TV on the huge screen in the living room. Just wonderful, Jackie. I'm glad we found you. And you have great neighbors. We'd be glad to recommend your Homer House to anyone.

Jackie, We just arrived back from Little York and your house, we had the BEST vacation ever. The Lake was perfect for the kids to swim in, we enjoyed the Kayak and paddleboat. Each morning the local Blue Heron came by for breakfast and in the afternoon we had some ducks come over for lunch! We had dinner in the yard each night the grill was GREAT, followed by a pit fire and smores! During the rainy day we loved watching the rain on the lake from the living room. The beds were very nice and the kids liked all the space. We liked the way the windows opened over the beds so the quite breeze could come in. We had a GREAT time relaxing and playing in the water. THANKS!! We are already making plans to book again for a week next year. My wife and Mother-in Law liked the shops close by in Hommer too!

Jackie, I left Little York Lake this morning at a little before 10 a.m. It was a most wonderful vacation spot. My closest friend, her husband and I were the "full-time" occupants and really enjoyed the peacefulness of the time at the lake. We entertained family and friends, who all agreed that we had found a great spot to spend the week. It allowed me to enjoy family from Cortland and the teenagers that visited us enjoyed the paddle boat, as did my friend and her husband. Being able to have everything right there for us to use, from cooking utensils, to the gas grill, to the towels and sheets - it was wonderful. Thank you so much and we may contact you again one day to rent again.
