It has been a wonderful week. Weather was better than we expected but fall along the North Shore can be full of surprises. Our second anniversary has come & gone - celebrated like our honeymoon & first anniversary. This is the best place to take a break from our busy lives & remember who each other is and why we are together. We have once again enjoyed ourselves at Bluefin Bay. This girlfriends weekend getaway is always a blast! We found time to hike to the Temperance River, use the exercise room, and hot tub! Beautiful Memorial Day weekend on the North Shore. It was our first trip together as a new couple and we couldn't have asked for more beautiful accommodations. The view is spectacular and we had an amazing moon that sparkled across the water like a great Christmas tree. Thank you for making your condo available for a special weekend. Thank you for opening your condo to us! We decided last minute to book a mini-vacation here. It was much needed and so worth it! I don't know if sitting in front of the fire was my favorite part, or listening to the waves, or just being able to spend time together as a family. Thank you again! We absolutely love it here! About the owner: We're Barb & Jack, happy to meet you & muse - vicariously - that you might be thinking of enjoying our special 'home away from home' on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We may be retired, sometimes just 'tired :),' but we're fortunate we can stay active & would be pleased if you can enjoy the special wonders of Bluefin Bay Resort. We're relaxing just a bit after high-intensity careers: Barb is a long-time Registered Nurse, partly in EMT, mostly in labor & delivery. Jack's career was in the advertising business, almost entirely in his own advertising agency enterprise. We both were reared in a small-town/agricultural environment in southern Minnesota that has surely left its mark on us forever. We love family (kids, grandkids & great-grandkids!), travel, horses & mules, desert, mountains, oceans, trains, boats, hiking, Jeeping, Western music (different than 'country'!), opera, cowboy poetry, and, and, and.
Why the Owner Chose Tofte:
It's easy to fall in love with this part of the country, the North Shore of Lake Superior, largest body of fresh water in the world. We've certainly been smitten. Sometimes this rugged coast is compared to the New England coast. Sometimes the nearby Sawtooth Mountains remind us of the west. The vast range of outdoor recreation opportunities -'right out the back door' - have been a huge attraction: unlimited hiking opportunities, hundreds of miles of XC trails, fishing, charming Americana in the small towns, best Alpine skiing east of the Rockies, kayaking & canoeing, on & on. And, of course, we were also attracted to the wonderful amenities of Bluefin Bay Resort, 2 pools (one outdoor & heated year 'round), 2 hot tubs (one also outdoor), and much more. Bottom line: We're glad we chose Bluefin Bay. We think you will be, too.

We've done our share of hiking (including backpacking some 200 miles of the famed Superior Hiking Trail & day hikes galore) ...enjoyed picnics overlooking the Lake from atop Mt. Oberg or Carlton Peak ...relaxing (on our deck, or on the rocks a few feet away) to listen to the waves of the Lake crashing (or just lapping at the shoreline) a stone's throw away ...visiting the cascading streams feeding the lake, the cauldrons of the Temperance River, Devil's Kettle on the Brule River, the spectacular double waterfall of the Caribou River ...watching the kids & grand-kids skip rocks when the Lake is quiet ...the 'Smore's sessions around the campfire ...we could go on & on.
