Kaitlyn, age 13, wrote in our guestbook: "Black Sand Cove is a wonderful place to stay, from the pool, to the garden to the beach, everything is just so-o-o beautiful. I had a wonderful time, and I do not want to leave at all. My best memories are when my family and me spent time in the pool together and when we met the funniest, cutest and nicest taxi driver named TC. She is VERY fun. When we walked down to the beach, the sand is so warm and soft on your feet. We caught some little hermit crabs and let them walk on our hands. I loved Doggie and Adolfo, they were both so sweet. I love how the garden looks, and when I am exploring in the gardens I feel like a detective. I hope to come back very very soon!!!! P.S. The house is beautiful."

With our friends, Murray and Debbie, we thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in February, 2010.Idyllic days by the pool, quiet nights 'n quiet stars, moon rise over Mt. Nevis. The mornings; delightfully fresh and peaceful, the afternoons' welcome daily heat always moderated by the Christmas Winds. We shopped, explored the beaches, plantations and restaurants..but Black Sand Cove was 'home'.Thanks Linda...it was magical.

Along with our two friends from Nanaimo B.C. we spent 10 days from January 25 to Feb 4, 2010 at Black Sand Cove.(plane to St.Kitts; ferry to Nevis). The weather was idyllic. The house and grounds were first-rate...we had a hard time dragging ourselves away from the beautiful pool with its gazebo and hammock. The gardens with its lemon and lime trees and colourful hummingbirds, the outdoor shower with a view of Mt.Nevis, hearing the wind at night on the banana trees and just looking out at the expansive ocean view were memorable. We found Nevis to have some excellent beaches and one of the world's greatest restaurants, the Golden Rock Plantation, with its spectacular scenery, ambience and food quality. Overall vacation assessment... 10/10

My family and I stayed at Black Sand Cove from May 20-30. Not long enough! Our stay there, and our first visit to Nevis, exceeded all of our expectations. When we arrived we were met at the ferry by Adolfo. A lot has been written on this page about Adolfo, but none of it can convey what a truly “nice guy” he is - professional, articulate, warm, friendly, funny, helpful, and he even showed us how to make tea using herbs from the garden. As he drove us to Black Sand Cove my first impression was how private it was. As we approached the house, our very articulate comments were – “OOOO!, Look! The colors! The house! The view! OOOO! Look!”. Those feelings lasted throughout our stay. The house is spacious, warm, inviting. The screened porch offers stunning views and an ocean breeze. Words and pictures can’t convey the beauty of the surrounding property. Several times each day we would walk through the gardens and each time was like the first. Fruit trees, palms, aloes, flowers, humming birds, a sea of colors– and geckos – I love geckos! The grounds need to be seen!We tried to decide what we liked most about Black Sand Cove but our list just keeps growing. The pool, the house, the porch, the gardens, the hammock (my favorite), the beach, the privacy, the outdoor shower facing the gardens and Mt. Nevis (my other favorite), we can’t decide. As I said, our stay was not long enough. We’ll be back again and again.

Loved It! We are return visitors to Nevis, and this was our first time staying at Black Sand Cove, but it definitely won’t be our last. When we booked online we were hopeful that Black Sand Cove would be even half as nice as the photos on the website. It was so much better! The photos simply cannot convey the sweeping views of the mountain and sea. The setting was so lovely and peaceful, and the grounds are like a private botanical garden full of flowers, tropical plants, and hummingbirds. The view from the pool is stunning, and you can watch everything from local fishing boats to cruise ships sail by. It’s worth getting up early for the sunrises, and the peepers will announce when it’s time for a Caribbean sunset. The house was very comfortable, nicely furnished, and had everything we needed. After a walk along the coast road, a hike up through the rainforest in Gingerland, or touring around the island, simply cool off in the pool, or head down a few steps to the private volcanic black sand beach. There’s also a new pretty tiled outdoor shower. Even with guests in the Cottage, we felt like we were in our own Nevisian paradise. It’s easy to get around, the Users' Guide has loads of suggestions and information, and if you need anything Adolfo is very welcoming and helpful, but also ever mindful of your privacy.

Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise. It was like staying at your own private resort. The grounds and views are amazing. We enjoyed the pool during the day and screened porch at night. We cooked and ate on the back patio with the awesome view of Mt. Nevis. This was a very much needed quiet and relaxing vacation. I would recommend BSC to anyone who wants to escape to paradise. Adolfo is amazing. He gives you all the privacy you need, but when you do need him, just give him a call and he is right there to help with anything.

My Wife Betsy and I had a wonderful time. Just what the Dr. ordered very relaxing. We just loved Nevis' sleepy demeanor. Loved the Bar B Que at the Water Dept. Loved the lobster Sunshines and really more than anything loved chilling at the house with some Carib or CSR and Cranberry. Looking forward to coming back.

Joy: We loved the beautifully planted grounds, the quiet of the house, the fact that just about all of our needs seemed to be anticipated: that there were plenty of towels, lots of books and puzzles, information about the history of the island, the info in the User's Guide, a clothes line with clothes pins as well as washer and dryer, well-equipped kitchen. We especially liked the way that Adolfo immediately helped us to take care of getting Jeff a driver's license, and having the option of a car that didn't come from a rental agency was so convenient. One thing we really liked that was unexpected - the artwork in the house. It's lovely, and suits the house so well. Jeff: The thing I appreciated most of all was the quiet - there were no impediments to relaxation, for much of the time there were no phones, no TV, no cars, no airplanes, no lawnmowers, no voices even - just the birds and the wind and the sea. I couldn't have imagined anything like it. I had brought my IPod along, and did use it a few times with the nice connection that was provided to the house's stereo, but although I normally have music playing all the time, I found it to be an intrusion at Black Sand Cove - the wind and the surf were more than enough. I'm sure you hear this from every one of your guests, but I'll repeat it anyway - your caretaker Adolfo is such an asset - friendly, helpful to a fault, accessible, and a pleasure to meet and get to know a little. Don't ever let him get away!

I think my husband described it best when he compared being at Black Sand Cove to the scene in The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy and her fellow travelers arrive in the Emerald City to find everything suddenly drenched in color. The gardens and house are graceful arrangements of color and light- the ocean on one side and Mt. Nevis in the distance on the other. We swam, snorkeled with Barbara Whitman, hiked with Jim Johnson, ate the freshest fish,Adlofo cut open a coconut for us!This was a wonderful experience for our kids and my husband and me. I wish we were back right now!

Just returned from a wonderful week spent at Black Sand Cove, We traveled with our 2 children ages 9 and 13 and my Mother in law (had the cottage all to herself)and wish we had booked a little more time. It was very hard to leave! The property really is more beautiful than the website shows. Every day we discovered a new path to walk on, found a few turtle eggs on the beach and had a hard time getting away from the pool. We stayed in a hotel last year while visiting Nevis but enjoyed this beautiful home so much better. The kitchen is very well equiped. The charoal grill on the back patio was great and Adolfo was a sweetheart. Counting the days till we return!

My husband and I have just returned from a truly wonderful week at Black Sand Cove. The house and grounds were even more lovely in person, even though the website is well done and very accurate. We both have a love of peace and quiet, water and gardening. Black Sand Cove and the island of Nevis fit these perfectly. We took more pictures of hummingbirds and geckos and all the natural beauty that surrounds Black Sand Cove and let's don't forget the beautiful Caribbean waters. We have been on many lovely island inspired vacations and this one is definitely at the top and we will be back in the very near future. Lastly, there are no words for Adolfo he is priceless. The people of Nevis were also very warm. We had many excellent meals. By all means check out the Botanical Gardens and have lunch at the Tea House.

We stayed at Black Sand Cove from Sunday, 12/31/06 until Sunday, 1/7/07. On the island we enjoyed beautiful beaches, wonderful meals, great kayaking on the ocean, and a spectacular hike to the top of Mt. Nevis. But the best part of our trip was the house at Black Sand Cove. We always plan vacations carefully and especially in this internet age, study pictures, prices, and locations very closely. While we are usually satisfied when we arrive, I can say that this is the first time that everything was exactly as described. This contributed so much to being relaxed and enjoying ourselves. There is something that can't be captured about Black Sand Cove with pictures and descriptions, and that's the sum of the whole. The peaceful feeling. The option of the pool or the ocean. The sounds and the smells. The easy, relaxed comfort. That's what it's all about. We'll be back.

Linda, I wanted to say that Anne and I had the best time at your place last week and it was the kind of stuff dreams are made of. Special thanks to Adolfo for all his help and island wisdom. We especially loved coffee by the pool, all the gardens, the ever-present breeze, the sounds of donkeys, birds, and ocean, frogs, crickets, and the quiet, quiet, quiet. I wrote in the guest book my one recommendation to newcomers.... "Take a deep breath,... let it out slowly.... Slow down... and stop searching because, You have found heaven.

Black Sand Cove is even more beautiful and spacious than the exceptionally well-designed website shows. The house is beautifully appointed, comfortable and spacious and the location and gardens are outstanding. We loved the remote location and privacy of our own pool and (all the while we were there) beach. The people of Nevis are warm and kind and beautiful. We have stopped looking for our perfect island. Hey there Ms. Linda, My wife and I, along with our good friends Marlene & Jerry Dube, returned to the States last week-end after spending a most terrific week at Black Sand Cove. I can't say enough about the quality of the accomodations. As much as we have traveled together we have not enjoyed better surroundings. From the lush and manicured grounds to the quality artwork, appliances and utensiles, the house and grounds were a great pleasure. You have something special there to be proud of. Speaking of special, you have a most special person in Adolpho. He loves his job and what he feels he has helped create at Black Sand Cove. If I thought for a second that I might find someone like Adolpho to watch after things I might just look for an island get-away of my own. One point I would like to sugest is in your web pages. The remoteness of the house could be made more clear along with the deffinate necessity of renting a car. I couldn't imagine being there without one. Once again, thank you for a wonderfully relaxing week. Lee & Jeane Waldorf Port Charlotte, Florida

Black Sand Cove is perfect for the utmost in relaxation and beautiful surrounding gardens. Very private and remote with only the sounds of the ocean. House is spacious, beautifully furnished and open to a spectacular view of the ocean. The kitchen has everything that any cook could require to prepare a gourmet meal. Our favorite room was the screened in front porch where we spent most of our time. The tropical gardens are immaculately groomed thanks to Adolfo who is truly dedicated to his work and makes sure guests have all that they could possibly need during their stay. We hated to have our vacation to come to an end.

What a wonderful place to spend a Caribbean vacation!! This was our first trip to the islands, and we chose Black Sand Cove for its promises of seclusion and privacy. What we got was so much more!! Linda and Adolfo (the property manager) have done a fabulous job with the property! I was educated as an interior designer, so I always have a critical eye.... my current occupation is lighting design, including landscape lighting design. I was very impressed with the landscape......not only the beauty of the blooms and the balances of textures and colors, but with the design. The lines and curves brought harmony to the property.....I often found myself becoming more relaxed as I headed from the house to the pool......the landscaping has an energy and a balance that not only creates a physical flow, but an emotional one as well. One of the most enjoyable things was listening to Adolfo and his sister singing as they did their chores around the yard! I found myself facinated..... when do you ever see that here??? We loved relaxing in the pool in the evenings.....looking at the stars and the caribbean sea. Turn around, and enjoy the view of Mt Nevis (the volcano) and the sounds of the evening!!! The beach was very nice- the black sand is soft, and the water was warm! We often found ourselves amazed that we had our own private beach!!! The house is wonderful! The Caribbean breezes move through the entire house. We fell asleep each night and woke up each morning to the sounds of the sea- infact in the Master Bedroom, you can lift your head up of the pillow for an amazing view of the sea!!! I have never had a room with that kind of view!! The kitchen is well equipped- I recommend using the fresh basil, chives and rosemary- which you can find just outside the kitchen door!!! Oh- and if you happen to get too much sun.....there are large aloe vera plants to sooth the burn! We would definitely return, and we will recommend Black Sand Cove to anyone who is looking for that "my own private island" kind of vacation!!!

A beautiful, secluded house, in gorgeous tropical gardens, by a cliff path to a quiet beach in a little cove. No better place to relax away the cares of the outside world. Nevis itself has a lot to offer, from scuba and snorkelling, rain forest hikes on the mountain, lovely plantation buildings, the tropical outpost of Charlestown, beach restaurants and bars. It is always good to get back to the house and relax by the pool, or in the gazebo, or on the beach or the verandah. There's a phone and internet access if you need to contact the outside world, but we did not miss that, and the absence of a TV is a positive blessing. Adolfo Hunt, the manager, accomplishes the logistically challenging job of maintaining all the comforts of civilization in this remote location, and he has been re-landscaping the garden, which is gorgeous. It attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, mockingbirds and the occasional donkey. He picked us up at the airport and arranged for everything we needed. Adolfo's a sweetheart. Donkeys, monkeys, goats, sheep, and the occasional hog, chickens and cow seem to wander all over the island. There was the occasional light shower, but the weather in December was warm, as was the sea temperature, in the high seventies with a refreshing trade-wind breeze. Our recommendation: Papaya daquiries made from Adolfo's home-grown fruit. We re-entered the rat-race rested and refreshed.

We had an excellent stay at Black Sand Cove which is probably the most peaceful location on the island. There's nothing to hear except the sound of goats and donkeys with the occasional vehicle going past on the coast road. The house is very comfortable (especially the lounge furniture) and the gardens are really exceptionally beautiful. We loved lying in the pool watching the sea and then enjoying the sunset in the fabulous garden room. Although quite close to Charlestown, we recommend having a car as you can't walk to the bus stop on the main road. All in all, a great rental house, well maintained and perfect for a quiet, restful holiday.

After two weeks at the House at Black Sand Cove we are already looking forward to returning. Panoramic ocean views from the house, pool or gardens with sensational sunsets from the quiet privacy of your own estate yet within easy reach of the best beaches and restaurants on Nevis make this one of the most unique accomodations you'll find anywhere. The private black sand beach is perfect for sunset strolls and shelling. Walks along the coastal road are usually shared only with the friendly local goats and donkeys. If you want to unwind and leave the stress behind, this is the place to be!

We had an extremely enjoyable and relaxing stay at Black Sand Cove for our honeymoon. Adolfo greeted us as we arrived on the island, already had our rental car for us, and gave us a nice overview of where things are while driving us to the property. The main house was very clean and well equipped. The view is wonderful and with the windows open, you can hear the rhythm of the water from inside the house. This was a great way to fall asleep. The pool is very nice, and we loved the walk down to the cove itself. It was so peaceful to sit down by the water at dusk and breathe in the fresh air. The property is a great location because it is away from town, but the island is small enough that you are not too far. We loved being on our own, being by the pool and on the beach without a crowd, having a whole house to use, and having Adolfo readily available to answer questions or help with something. We met Linda during our stay, and she was delightful and helpful, all the while respecting our privacy. We will definitely return to Nevis, and we look forward to staying at the secluded Black Sand Cove.

From the moment Adolfo, the Manager, picked us up at the airport, everything was done for our pleasure and comfort beginning with a brief stop for groceries. Flowers were already in our splendid cottage. Black Sand Cove is clearly a labor of love for its recent new owners who are sparing no effects to enhance the natural beauty of the 8-acre property. Of special note is the expansive views of the sunsets over the Caribbean and the ever-changing moods of Nevis Mountain.

Black Sand Cove provided us amentities and comforts we couldn't believe. The house is spacious and bright -- with views of the sea out of every window in the front and spectacular vistas of Nevis Peak in the back. Each aspect of the home was perfect. We'd spend our evenings watching the sun set across the Caribbean. For a quiet and tranquil respite, Black Sand Cove exceeded our expectations. We will most certainly return to this lovely and picturesque location again.

Black Sand Cove is a wonderfully secluded paradise. My wife and I stayed in the cottage, and it was absolutely perfect. The cottage is bright and spacious with a full kitchen, an incredibly comfortable bed, a patio with a stunning view of Mr. Nevis, and a magnificant front porch. Often we would wake up in the morning and just sit out on the front porch gazing out at the turquoise water and listening to the sound of the waves and the birds. It was pure magic. Then we would walk down to the beach - a great little alove of black volcanic sand and great waves for body surfing. If you are looking for an out-of-the-way, quiet home away from home, and not the typical, touristy, mega hotel chain....then this is the place for you!!!
