Better than expected
Better than expected
We had a very enjoyable time at the Hideaway. The description and location were exactly to our expectations. We were actually suprised that is was larger than we expected. The cabin was exceptionally clean and welcoming. It was a pleasure dealing with the owners and they were very easy to contact and answer all our questions. We have raved about this location since we got back to many of our family and friends and would highly recommend the Hideaway. The only negative I could say was that there was a propane BBQ on the property but no propane tank however I don't believe there is an mention in the ad about a gas BBQ only a charcoal one. We planned on barbecueing but didn't as we only then discovered that when we went to cook. If you are travelling with pets we would highly recommend Barks and Recreation for daycare or overnight boarding. We used them and our dogs had an amazing time with the loving staff there. Also the price of $2.50/hour was an added bonus. I have to say that the beds are heavenly. Great place to stay.

Owner response: Thank you so much, Kelly for your review of our Hideaway. Our new cleaning crew does a wonderful job in making our cozy Hideaway the place to return to after a wonderful Smoky Mountain adventure! We have decided to retire our charcoal BBQ for a propane one at your suggestion and appreciate all your comments on OUR favorite place to stay! We look forward to your return visit and again, thank you, Kelly.

My husband, in-laws and I had booked 3 nights at this cabin. We got in super late the night we checked in and noticed there were still groceries in the fridge from the last occupant, but did not pay too much attention to that. The next morning when we were starting to get ready, we noticed the shower curtain was moldy, dishes in the cabinet were dirty, and the bathroom looked like it had been 1/2 cleaned. When we returned from our outing that day around 2 o'clock we turned the hot tub on and waited 2+ hours for it to heat up and it never did. At that point, we did contact the owner and she offered to have someone come and re-clean the cabin for us the next morning. It was a nice offer, but it did nothing to fix the broken hot tub which was our biggest concern and put a huge damper on our plans for the evening to sit in the hot tub and then grill out. We did ask if we could check out early and find another place to stay our last night and the owner was fine with that. We just hated that so many things were not up to par and it really altered our plans.

Owner response: Thank you Vanessa for your phone call. Although I tried to send out the cleaning supervisor AND a new crew immediately after your phone call-(the old crew was terminated after we spoke),you decided to leave. You had already been in the cabin for 2 days and would not give our cleaning supervisor the immediate opportunity to take care of you in the way all our guests are treated. Detailed hot tub instructions are on the fridge and our guests receive my personal phone number for immediate contact- if anything is ever amiss. I regret your disappointment and as every good owner does, I did all that could be done to make it Hideaway the quality cabin it is.

This cabin is great - cute and rustic. The owners were wonderful and a breeze to work with. This cabin also accommodates pets - and even though I ended up not needing to bring mine - the area would have been great for him to explore. I hesitate to go on, but I feel the owners need to know that their cleaning crew are lacking and feel like they could have put forward a better effort. When we arrived, there were dead bugs on the floor and cobwebs everywhere. It didn't appear that they had even cleaned at all. All in all it was a great stay and we enjoyed ourselves and felt comfortable and safe. Would stay here again.

Owner response: Amy, I am so sorry that you did not call me when you first arrived as the cleaning crew would have been sent up there immediately to do it right for you-first thing! Their Supervisor too! When I share my direct cell number with all our guests, its for that very reason. It's so important to us to make sure that Hideaway is a lovely Smoky Mountain getaway cabin that all can thoroughly enjoy. I know we will see you again, Amy and thank you for your review. Cher

We rented the Hideaway for 3 days and had such a great time. The place was clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, hot tub was clean and fresh smelling. Decorations were nice too... some times these cabins are almost too... cutesy with all the bears and "cabin" furniture. This was a nice mix of styles that blended well and made you feel comfortable and at home. One of the really nice features for us was the level land which allowed our kids and 2 small dogs room to roam, without having to worry about cars coming. The only disadvantage was the road getting there. Lots of steep hills, winding roads and ways to get Lost! But the owner was Super sweet, answered all my questions, gave great directions (we just had to make sure to follow them every time! LOL). It wasn't too far away from all of the attractions and was nice and quiet. I would definitely recommend the Hideaway... or any of this owners properties to a friend.

October Getaway at the Hideaway
October Getaway at the Hideaway
Just returned from 5 days, 4 nights in the Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area. Our stay at the Hideaway was most enjoyable, the cabin being like a home away from home. We had all the conveniences tucked away in the gorgeous mountains. We enjoyed long walks during the day, taking in the beautiful foliage and in the evenings sat by the fire in the firepit, listening to the quiet, peaceful sounds of the night. We had excellent directions from the owner which took us to the front door of the cabin where we found everything in order, clean & cozy. This cabin is tucked away high on the mountain but only about 10 minutes from both Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. We so needed a break from our crazy routine & this was the perfect getaway. Would definitely recommend this rental and hope to get back again ourselves soon!

Owner response: The Smoky Mts are a very special place for us too and we are so glad that you enjoyed our little Hideaway. Its wonderful to be so close to everything yet really have the clean cozy romantic & pampered getaway you deserve. Please come back to Hideaway soon and thanks so much!
The 'Hideaway' was a welcome getaway. Eventhough the 'cabin' was very clean, it was not private at all, like advertised, so we didn't get to use the hot tub. Wifi didn't work as advertised, no iron as advertised. We coud only get about 8 channels on the tv, that was including infommercials, even if we could get more the straight back chairs weren't very comfortable, the couch was so so. The beds were very comfortable, I don't think I moved all night...we had guest every afternoon...wild turkeys, they didn't hurt a thing while we and all the neighbors would watch them walking around as if we weren't even there. Except for the logs on the outside of the cabin, I would consider this as a cottage, very small and sweet, just not what we're used to when we rent cabins....all in all had a good get away for my husbands birthday.

Owner response: Thanks so much for your review-this makes Number 13 and the only one that has not been flattering. During October with fabulous fall color and one of our busiest months in the mountains, all visitors do wish for more privacy!. Our ad says a private level wooded lot which I am sure you did enjoy. We do have top quality appliances in Hideaway, and my staff missed its unfortunate disappearance before your arrival. I replaced the iron as soon as I knew and thank you for that. I give all our guests my direct phone number and would have been glad to get you the iron immediately, had I known. Hideaway does not have WiFi and although I searched the listing again, I did not find it listed anywhere on the site. Telephone service is 4G up there so for most guests, internet connection had not been missed. Hideaway is a clean, cozy romantic cabin with fabulous beds, & new furniture, original art work and a red heart shaped tub overlooking your private wooded lot. Thanks for your input. It is appreciated.
Hideaway Quiet, Relaxing, Perfect
Hideaway Quiet, Relaxing, Perfect
So many Smoky Mountain cabins try to pass themselves off as being an 'authentic' mountain retreat. Hideaway is the real deal. We spent three nights there in late August, and the rustic but comfortable charm of the place oozes out of every real log. It's an older cabin that been rehabbed for a modern-but-cozy feel. All the amenities are here: hot tub, romantic jacuzzi (heart-shaped), great A/C, cable TV, stone fireplace, dishwasher, etc. But, here, too, is the natural side of the Smokies: Outdoor firepit, grill (both gas and charcoal), and all sitting on a nice wooded hilltop that seemed to have you above the rest, literally and metaphorically. The decor is country but usable--nice chairs and couch, plus the beds provided ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST RESTFUL NIGHTS SLEEP I'VE HAD IN A WHILE! All in all, Hideaway is perfect for a romantic get-away or for a handful of friends who want to enjoy the quiet and relaxing nature that surrounds it--and we saw plenty of nature from the large/nice front porch!

We wish you many more soul satisfying days & nights when you return!
Christmas Week Stay
Christmas Week Stay
With one son in college 600 miles away and the other very active in high school sports, finding a time to get away together has proven very difficult! We had been counting on a Christmas Break trip together for several months, but trying to put an affordable getaway together was so daunting! My sticker shock over holiday stay and travel rates caused me to put off any bookings. As we got down to the wire, I came across the Hideaway and some other properties. Cher was by far the most responsive and helpful person I came across! She was integral in making our holiday happen! The cabin is clean, cozy and homey (holiday decor was a lovely touch). It's small, but I did not see that as a disadvantage -- perfect for the togetherness atmosphere I was looking for with my three most favorite boys in the world! We had a few terrific hikes and got out and about a bit, but my fondest memories will probably be our 'down time' in the cabin. Our only disappointment was that only one ski site was open; our trip to Maggie Valley was in vain, as the facility was 'at capacity' and we were turned away. Although we loved the snow-capped mountain trails, I probably wouldn't return between Christmas and New Year's, but hope to visit again virtually any other time! I liked the fact that we were dealing with property owners as opposed to rental managers. It also felt good to return home without having spent a fortune! Thanks, Cher. You rock!

Thank you!
Great location Perfect for our weekend get away. Lots of land for our dog to Play and she had a blast. The fire place and hot Tub was great and cozy. We Loved the cabin. No complaints.

Simply good vacation
Simply good vacation
The Hideaway was such a sweet cabin. We spent our mornings drinking coffee on the porch or taking a walk in the mornings. The beds are super comfortable and the hot tub was nice. My little girls really enjoyed it! The owners George and Cher were very helpful in answering our questions. The only thing wrong was that we didn't have enough towels and washcloths so just bring some extra! We really had a good time and look forward to going back!
