  We had a wonderful stay for spring break. Owners easy to contact with any questions or concerns. Very peaceful surroundings. Would stay again when back to Bald Head.

  We had such a wonderful time at "A Bird House"! Everything worked great in the house. The house itself is beautiful as even the nice pictures, don't do it justice. The golf carts were great, though we found ourselves using the blue one more often since it was definitely faster! It was our first trip to BHI. We have two girls that were never once bored in the house. Tons of board games, cute stuffed animals in the bunk room for them to enjoy, and all the outside activities made their vacation lots of fun. Thank you so much Tim and Marcella!! We will be sure to be back again. Thanks for making our 1st trip to BHI a blast!!

  We have been renting homes and vacationing on BHI for the past 15 years and A Bird House is one of the nicest homes we have stayed in. It definitely is the best equipped home on the island as well as being very spacious, clean and homey. This home has everything you could possibly need. We do not vacation without our dog and it is hard to find updated, clean pet friendly homes. Marcella was very nice and responsive in working with us. We hope to return next summer!

  Our stay at "A Bird House" was fabulous! There were 8 women staying at the house and the three full bathrooms were very accommodating as well as having plenty of space. The house was clean, well equipped with all the amenities including two golf carts that were so much fun to tool around the island in. The house is located close to the marina and the restaurant, "Eb & Flow" which everyone enjoyed. The owner was available when we called with questions. We would definitely recommend this house to friends and family and we are looking forward to making this an annual trip.

  We enjoyed this house--the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked, the screened porch was great, and the bathrooms are clean and spacious. The carts worked well (remember to connect the battery charger overnight), and the bicycles were in excellent mechanical shape and worked perfectly. The bicycles look like regular beach bikes (wide tires & rusty chrome) but they worked perfectly and were a joy to ride on BHI. It is probably one of the most bicycle friendly places I've ridden in ages. The carts are nice if you want to take beach chairs, coolers, etc to the beach. The location of the house is nice as you're within a few minutes of the harbor, and another minute or two to the grocery store (which was surprisingly well stocked...yes, prices are higher than the mainland, but still reasonable). Beaches were close, and the point (SE corner of BHI) is pretty nice. Wide beaches and the south side is great for shell hunting. Overall, the house was great...relaxing and accommodating, and we'd stay there again without hesitation. It helped make our stay at BHI very memorable.

  We were dissappointed with our stay at this property last July. Both golf carts did not function on the first day, and the owner's response was less than prompt. Bikes are rusty and had flat tires. You have 7 days to vacation, fixing equipment should not take away from this. Renters are encouraged to have owner provide a maintenance agreement and back up plan should this reoccur. We have been travelling to BHI for several years. We love the island but will not return to this property. House was clean upon arrival.

  Owner response: VRBO – Thank you for the opportunity to response. We had the misfortune of a brand new golf cart’s battery charger malfunctioning (and getting recalled by manufacturer) simultaneously with the breakdown of the other cart. Both carts were recently maintained and were on a schedule. Our response calls to repair shops was immediate, but neither we, nor the repair shops could meet the expectations of correcting it within minutes, especially after hours on a weekend. We are very surprised about this renter’s comments, given that this rental was eight months ago. Please note that being aware that their first night on the island was their 16 year old son’s birthday, we coordinated and paid for birthday cake and its delivery without Mike asking. We also paid for a rental cart for the entire week. We feel that we went above and beyond on responsiveness given the minuscule probability of both carts being disabled at same time and challenges of getting repairs on weekend. As a side note - this was the only renter to complain about the bikes the entire summer. However, we have increased the frequency of our bike maintenance because this is valid issue. We love riding bikes on the island and want others to enjoy the same.

  We had two families totaling 10 people that comfortably enjoyed a quiet, fun week. The pictures did not do justice to the spaciousness of the home. There were many extras including bikes with helmuts, beach chairs and wave boards which saved us space in packing. The kitchen was well-equipped and the outdoor shower was a nice surprise. There were no other homes immediately surrounding "Bird House" which gave us added privacy yet it was conveniently located near the center of the island which made it easy to get to the store, marina, club and beach. The house was in good shae and I would highly recommend it to someone else.
