Our family spent a week at this beautiful lakefront chalet. The house was even more lovely than we imagined, and the view was spectacular. The house was well equipped and very clean. The four bedrooms were large and there was plenty of room for all of us. The pool room and the jacuzzi were added bonuses. The walk to the dock was not for anyone with health problems as it was steep, especially coming back up to the house. The internet and TV reception worked fine, and we were aware in advance there was no cell phone reception. We gave the house phone number to our family, so if anyone needed us, they called. The trip to Franklin was farther than we thought, so we limited our trips. We loved the nearby white water rafting. Our children went hiking, biking and running every day. Personally, I loved sitting on the deck and reading a book. We brought our boat and went out on the beautiful lake every day. Unfortunately the fish were on vacation too, but that didn't matter. We would definitely love to come back next year. Thank you again, Zach and family for sharing your home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, age 55+, adventure seekers.

We absolutely loved the house, space and views. The best thing about the house is the amazing view, which is visible from almost anywhere in the house. The dock was perfect for relaxing and we enjoyed the jaccuzzi too. There are some suggestions I can make for future visitors; be prepared to drive up many steep curves with no rails to get to the house. We are city people and had no idea the drive to the house was so scary. I wouldn't drive at night, to or from the house as it is difficult to see. We were in a large Ford E-350 van, which made turning around on the one way road quite a challenge, but it wasn't impossible. There are exactly eight large towels and we were in a group of eight-- needless to say that we washed the towels frequently. There is no cell phone service, but the house has free wifi. One major complaint from the group was the quality/cleanliness of the bed sheets. I should have brought my own as the ones in the house had makeup stains and didn't look so clean. Some great points to not be overlooked is the large space, the beautiful home and the proximity to white water rafting. We used Adventurous Fast River Rafting-- what a great experience! We also took a 2 hour drive to Asheville to the Biltmore Estate, which was a wonderful time. All in all we really had an amazing vacation and enjoyed the house very much (cooked all three meals everyday!).Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hi Christine, I am glad that you all enjoyed the house and beautiful view as much as our family does. I'm sorry that the road was such an issue for your group; I can see how it would be in a 15 passenger van. Unfortunately, many of the roads at all of the mountain lakes can be a little unnerving for city people not used to the appalachian mountain's steep windy roads. As for the towels, I am sorry about that, we normally do have extra ones in our bathrooms and that will be addressed for future rentals. An lastly, I am sorry that you all felt the bed linens were dirty. I can reassure that they are washed after EVERY rental, the stains that some of your party saw are actually permanent burns/stains made by our old faulty dryer drum which has since been replaced. I will actually have the cleaners attempt to bleach this out of the affected linens because I don't want any future renter thinking they are using dirty linens. I truly am sorry for any inconveniences during your stay; I do appreciate your feedback as it helps to provide a comfortable getaway for future renters. Thanks, Zach

This house has an absolutely beautiful view. Breakfast on the porch was awesome! Lots of room for families. We had a great time, but did have a few suggestions for future renters. One was we brought our own boat. DEFINATELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! The road leading to the home is extremely narrow and steep. There was no way to get boat to the home, we had to leave it at the bottom of the mountain until the next day because the marina was already closed for the evening. But once we were able to get it in and at the dock, it was great to use and explore the lake. Maybe a rental boat would have been better. Also, this home is three stories, so lots of stairs to climb as well as lots of steep stairs down to the dock, so would not suggest for people who have knee problems or small children. We had two small children (2 and under) which made it a little hard carrying them up and down the stairs just to go to the water. Also, we could not get any cell service at the home (had three different cell carriers) and the phone at the house is for local calls only so we had no way to contact owner with regards to any problems. Also, house had a mice problem. I understand you are in the woods, but we had to buy plastic containers to put our food in (and mice traps) as the mice were eating everything and leaving droppings all over the kitchen counters! Overall the stay was good with the exception of these few things. Definately for the person who wants to enjoy the outdoors and relax!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Sandra, We're glad that you all still had a great time at the house depsite the issue with mice. We have since taken care of the problem after we went up to the house to stay for a week. The house now has bait put out, so future renters should not have a problem with this. I will also be letting my cleaners/caretakers know to keep an eye out for any future activity. To any future renter, please be aware that NO Lake Nantahala homes have cell signal for ANY cell service providers. For this reason, the Rustic Market & the Wayah Cafe have provided a mobile hotspot service for cell phones, which are less than a 5 minute drive from the house.

Thanks so much for the use of the Lady of the Lake! The rooms were very spacious and there was lots of closet space so we could make ourselves at home. The wrap around decks were perfect rain or shine for morning coffee or evening wine and we could appreciate how the Smokies got their name. Even the hot tub is positioned with an optimum view of the mountains! The marina/grill is across the cove, if you don't want to get into the car it is an easy row away, but the house is tucked back so you can swim with no worries. Just down from the marina is Bryant Bait and Tackle - easy to get a fishing license and any gear you may need to fish off of your own pier. The house is centrally located and we were able to take short outings to Rufus Falls, Mooney Falls, and Big Laurel Falls in one direction and fly fishing and white water rafting at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in the other. This home will accommodate the guest who wants to relax all week, or the adventurer who wants to make the most of it all!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
