We had an excellent time on Hawaii the Big Island and one of the reasons was this condo that we rented. The condo was comfortable, clean and a real home away from home. The condo was centrally located in Kona and allowed you to really enjoy the island without having to spend big dollars or even rent a car. It was a comfortable place to come home to after a day of sight seeing and I would recomend it to anyone who is looking for a place to stay on the Island.Did you find this review helpful? This condo is perfect for those who wish to walk to town, the library or the pier to do some swimming in the mornings or try stand-up paddle board or kayak in the bay...you might also get to see the dolphins up close!! The grocery stores are close too - everything is close however, once you are inside the condo sipping a cool drink on the lanai, you feel like you are away from it all!! Deidre and Janet were very helpful and each tried make my stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! Mahalo!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Hi guys, here's our review : Location : Very well situated in Kailua Kona. Near downtown : you can easily get there by walk so you don't have to find a parking place. Very nice little city. Comfort : The apartment is charming. There is everything you need there. Complete kitchen, comfortable bed. TV. Really nice patio with a couch and a little table. Internet is reliable (WI-FI). It is also very clean. We recommand this place. The price is really good for the location. However, we had a little problem with cockroaches. Where we come from, it's not a good thing to see these insects in your house. Because of the temperature in Kailua Kona (very hot and dry), you have a good chance to see some outside and maybe inside the building. That's what happended in our case. If you don't mind about that, you really should make a reservation here. I think they are doing there best to keep them outside, but there is a good possibility that you'll find some inside. So if you really can't live with that, we suggest you find another place. That being said, Janet has been really understanding and we thank her for that. The location of the condo is the only thing I would rate with 5 stars- it is less than a 5 minute walk into downtown which is fabulous! The kitchen here is almost useless. Do not plan on saving any money on food if you are staying in this condo. The mini fridge is super-mini and everything else is old an falling apart. The kitchen needs help. The worst part of our stay- there was either rats or mice that came in the kitchen while we were gone and ate chunks out of our papaya and avocados- GROSS!!! Did not feel like staying there after this and did not sleep well. Cockroaches I can deal with, furry creatures not so much. Did not feel the owner's response was all that helpful- she said we could take out a trap from under the sink and catch it if we wanted to. Not something I would do at home and definitely would not do it on vacation in Hawaii. The furniture is all very well used and they smells a bit. The bed made both of our backs ache- too soft & no structure to it. If you are looking to stay at a place that is like camping but with walls and a roof this will be it for you. Great price, but not worth the "extras".Owner response: Dear guest, Managing a vacation rental is a business, and my daughter and I strive to provide our guests with an affordable option for their Hawaiian vacation. While most of our guests write very positive, kind reviews, we also appreciate constructive feedback. We advertise as a cozy studio for the budget minded traveler and do not pretend to compete with five star hotels that charge 4x more for a room. We consider our `ohana a second home and have decorated it with artwork and furniture that are distinctly Hawaiian. The "useless" efficiency kitchen has been more than adequate for the majority of our guests. I myself have been staying in a small studio in Oregon for the past 3 months and have gotten along just fine with a small fridge. What you consider "camping with walls and a roof", others have found quite comfortable and enjoyable. I'm sorry about the critter in the unit. While critters are a way of life on the islands, we strive to keep our living space as clean as possible. A trap was recommended as a quick fix and we were able to address the issue with an exterminator the next day when you departed.

PLEASE RESPECT OUR HOME AND ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING: • No damage to unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear. • No charges incurred due to contraband or pets in unit. • All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in dumpster, and soiled dishes are cleaned and placed in the cupboard. • All keys are returned to the lock box and unit is left locked. • All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure. • No linens are lost or damaged. • No early check-in or late checkout unless previously arranged. • Respect the condo community property: pool, BBQ, laundry, grounds, and residents. PAYMENT – Due 30 days before your arrival date. * Vacations that are reserved with less than 30 days notice will be subject to terms of the owners. CANCELLATIONS - A thirty (30) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than thirty (30) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay or that are made less than 30 days of the arrival date are subject to terms of the owner. Early departure does not warrant any refund of rent. MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS – Monthly renters must cancel sixty (60) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least thirty (30) days prior to check-in. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to two (2). MINIMUM STAY – This property requires a three (3) night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday and event periods. If a rental is taken for less than three days, the rate will be negotiated with the owner. NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE – While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We do not permit bath towels or linens to be taken from the units, but we provide extra beach towels/mats for your use. RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved by owners in writing in advance. FREE ON-SITE PARKING – Our unit has assigned parking # 43. About the owner: I fell in love with Hawaii's Big Island during my first visit in 1981. When my daughter Deidre moved there in 2001, I knew it would become a regular vacation spot. As we explore new sites together, we are continually reminded that Hawaii is an evolving island with beauty that awakens the senses. You will fall in love with the island, its culture and history, the same way we have. We are a mom and daughter team. I had the good fortune of raising my four children near the white sand beaches of Southern California. When I moved to Oregon, I realized how much I missed the calm, warm Pacific Ocean. Hawaii became the perfect choice for a vacation home, especially since we have family and friends living on both the Hilo and Kona sides of the Big Island. Each visit brings an abundance of surprises as we immerse ourselves in the Hawaiian experience. When not working with preschoolers, Deidre spends her free time surfing and exploring new locations. She can provide you with personal recommendations to make your vacation memorable.
