Everything in this quaint cottage brings one back to the days of old when the simple pleasures in life were most enjoyed. The surrounding area boasts many activities. Swim and fish in the lake. Try you luck with the horses at Saratoga Race Track. Enjoy a show at SPAC or take in the Ballet. Yaddo Botanical Gardens for the nature lover. The Malta Drive-in Theatre, Golf, Saratoga Speedway, Lincoln Bath, Museums, Saratoga Spa State Park and Skidmore College are some of the many attractions. And just a short ride to Lake George. My wife and I were travelling to Saratoga Springs for the baptism of our son. Considering the time of year it was in Saratoga (horse racing season), we were not comfortable with the hotel rates being offered. And since we were also travelling with my parents and grandmother, we wanted an experience that we could all share. This brought us to the HomeAway website, and fortunately for us, we came upon Bob and Diane's lakefront cottage. It truly was serenity on the lake. The cottage, which is fully furnished and very well appointed, provided us with resting place that was near enough to town to enjoy all that Saratoga Springs has to offer, but also far enough away to not feel crowded in. We spent many mornings, afternoons, and evenings enjoying coffee on the screened in porch or down by the dock. Napping in the hammock. And just enjoying the overall peace and quiet you feel when you are by the water. A very heartfelt thanks to Bob and Diane for allowing us to experience a very wonderful treasure. They were a pleasure to deal with during the entire rental process, and everything they said that the cottage offered was spot on. Unfortunately, this experience was so wonderful that they may have sworn us off of hotels all together.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Owner response: In these days of hi-tech entertainment, it's good to know that there are other people out there who still enjoy a cup of coffee, on the porch, overlooking a pretty lake, with their family. The setting for this quaint cottage is perfect. The lake, the views and the sunsets were wonderful. The cottage is very clean and comfortable but would recommend the installation of a small laundry area for weekly guests and perhaps additional ac units in the bedrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning next season. If you go, be sure to spend time in downtown Saratoga...it has real old world charm and great shopping.

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My boyfriend and I went up to this house for a weekend away...wanted to relax, fish, and lounge in the sun! We went from a thursday to a sunday night and it was truly wonderful. We were so sad when we had to leave...the pictures do it justice, but it is so much more beautiful and relaxing to actually be there, enjoying the weather and being outdoors enjoying the lake. Another couple joined us and we cooked all weekend, and all of the necessary appliances were provided. Bob and Diane really have a gorgous piece of property here in Saratoga...and the house is very well kept! There are 3 bedrooms, and each one is definitely big enough for two people to sleep...the location is great. The town was about 8 miles away, as well as SPAC which was only a 10 minute drive at most...it is situated DIRECTLY on the lake and the screened in porch area was magnificent for morning breakfast and relaxing during the sunset...I can't rave enough about it! How can you really go wrong with a small, quaint house on a beautiful lake in a great town? The neighbors were friendly too! I'm really just sad that we had to leave...will definitely return when we can! Felt like we were at home all weekend...what a lovely place!

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
