  We had a mini-family reunion here on Memorial Day weekend. Six adults slept very comfortably -- the house was a perfect place for us to get together. I loved the kitchen! It was well equipped - we baked cookies, and pies, ate huge salads, had pancakes and french toast for breakfast, and grilled out on the deck at night. The location was perfect -- an easy walk to everywhere, yet off the main street far enough to be quiet at night. The wifi was a big plus. The pictures give a great representation of the cuteness and the cleanliness of this house. I would definitely stay here again, and I would recommend this house to anyone coming to Avalon. Thank you, thank you for sharing your home with us!

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

  We spent two weeks here and it was one of the most relaxing vacations we ever had. Okay, okay, yes, we did have our dueling lap tops (the wifi worked great) sitting across for each other on the living room game table...so yes, we checked-in with our families daily, but also played solitaire in the evenings....but did I mention that we also had the large front window open, to enjoy soft fresh breezes and to wave to the friendly people passing by in their golf carts. My favorite place was sipping a cold one up on the "roof top" deck...now that is how to relax...not too hot, as you have enough breeze to even take a short nap...oops, okay, a few became long naps. The short walks to some really cool restaurants was our evening highlight...got to meet a lot of friendly locals...a few even showed us how to catch a fish, from the down town pier. And, yes, there are some quaint "watering holes," some with live music, perfect for a little dancing, before calling it a night. Make sure you walk over to the world famous "Casino" that never became a gambling casino...and if you go downstairs you can learn the whole history of the island in the Avalon Historical Museum. You will be amazed to learn of all the old movie stars that use to come over to get away from LA (some still do) and you will learn about the big league baseball club that used Catalina for their spring training. If you want to know a little about the history of the island, we would recommend taking a city bus tour...and ask for Becky, she has lived on Catalina for over 40 years and knows the fun part of Catalina's history. As someone that has traveled the world, I have to tell you that Catalina Island is one place you really need to visit...and Summer Love Cottage will provide you with some great memories. PS: Yes, we enjoyed a bottle of champagne up on the deck.... PSS: Ladies, if you need some help getting your guy to take a week off...just tell him he can play a round of golf on the same course that John Wayne and Clark Gable played.

Fall .. $470/night (weekend), $335/night (midweek)
