Our gorgeous new home on the Mexican Riviera is just two blocks from one of Mexico's most gorgeous private beaches. The lower floor has a small eat-in kitchen with a super, comfy Queen sized bed and a full bathroom. It has a full closet and dresser for your belongings. Lush gardens and a relaxing patio surround the lower floor. Upstairs is the heart of the house. The spacious kitchen has cabinets fully equipped with whatever dishes or implements that you might need. Every appliance is new and working well.It is quite large as are all the rooms on the upper floor.
The living room with a custom built sofa is the perfect place to watch a movie, read a book or entertain guests. The dining, with a beautifully carved dining set is an elegant setting for intimate dinners.
The master bedroom is large and luxuriously furnished in traditional Mexican style. It has a most comfortable King sized bed and the large window overlooks the nearby mountains. A very ample closet and two dressers will accommodate all of your apparel. It is the perfect setting for a full night's sleep or siesta with the lulling sounds of the ocean close by.
The master bathroom has deep, twin artisan Talavera sinks and an enormous tub surrounded by coordinating tiles. A glass tile inset adds dreamy lighting to the calming atmosphere.
Across the hallway is our favorite place, a covered patio for eating outdoors or just relaxing. The mountain views and tropical birds are a feast for the eyes and a perfect backdrop for entertaining.
There is a large table and chairs and two lounge chairs for relaxing and dreaming. It is quite private.
Throughout the house are ceiling fans and exhaust fans that circulate the air to provide a comfortable environment.
Stoll down to the magnificent beach to swim, watch the fishermen bring in a catch or have a drink or snack at one of the local restaurants. Sea life abounds and Pelicans spend hours feeding on the rich bounty just off the beach. There an estuary at one end of the beach and tide pools at the other end. This is truly relaxing vacation spot. If you can, walk the length of the beach. Every day it changes and is always magnificent
Keywords: Stunning, Mexican style, new 2 story house. White stucco with many arches. Full comfortable spacious kitchen, all modern appliances, dreamy bath and relaxing views. Each story is a separate casa (house.)so it is perfect for two couples or parents and children.

My husband and I stayed in Lo de Marcos for 6 nights recently. The home was very beautiful, clean, well-maintained. Very pastoral setting, lots of horses, cows, chickens...we awoke each morning to the neighborhood roosters! The town's people are friendly and helpful. Many gringos living there in the winter, had lots of great ideas of things to do and places to go. We hiked a mountain and saw coatimundi, lizards, and beautiful views, also hiked to other beaches close by. We did not have a car but walked everywhere...plenty of buses and taxis available if you want to explore other beach towns. Yummy food, sunshine and almost deserted beaches. What more could you ask for?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from a wonderful two-week vacation in Lo de Marcos. Joe and Susan’s home was lovely – about a 5 minute walk from one of the most beautiful beaches on the Riviera Nayarit – quiet and very peaceful – we were often the only people out there. Susan’s kitchen is very well stocked - with all the pots and pans you’ll need to cook anything you might wish. And the little markets lining the town streets (another short walk from the house) have all the fruits and vegetables and other groceries you could want. But we have to say, the very best feature of this vacation home - is Lourdes! She is the absolutely charming caretaker/hostess who will welcome you to the house and tell you everything you will need to know to make your time in Lo de Marcos perfect. Her English is so much better than our Spanish and she is one of the nicest people in this town full of wonderful inhabitants. Hope you enjoy your time here as much as we did!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

If you are considering a trip to Lo de Marcos, you're already on the right track. The beach, the town, the people: lovely. This house was the perfect setup for our family's 12 day stay over the holidays. It is CLEAN and everything works. GREAT kitchen, lots of natural light, lots of ventilation, an open floor plan, and all the cooking items you'd need. Great gas range, excellent fridge and freezer, all just wonderful. The bedroom upstairs is large and comfortable with plenty of storage and bedding. The view out the window is of pastures filled with horses and chickens, and mountains beyond. The bathroom is wonderful: a large tub with a vaulted skylit dome above the tub. And best of all? Copious hot water! Not just some, I mean plenty of hot water, and this is often not the case in Mexico. Downstairs is a small but comfortable second unit with a small but fully functional kitchenette, a nice clean bedroom with a good bathroom attached. It has its own keyed entrance, and this setup makes this an ideal house for two couples, or perhaps a set of parents and their grown children. Location of this house is excellent: about 3-4 minute stroll from the beach, and maybe 6-8 minute walk to the central plaza. Its out of town enough to be quiet and peaceful, but close enough to be convenient for a nice stroll. Finally, the upstairs open air veranda is the perfect place for shared meals, both breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed several feeds of shrimp and mahi maui along with some drinks with friends. What fun! Lastly, the owners are very clear and responsive in their communications. Our damage deposit was returned within days of returning to the States, and everything was just as described. I highly recommend this house. Just don't rent it during the days when I want to rent it again! :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I spent just over one week staying at this lovely home and and enjoyed every minute of it. I was there in the spring, during Semana Santa, and was relieved to have such a quiet and spacious home, away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday-goers on the beach and the main streets. Joe's home is a short walk from the beach and close to all other ammenities, while also offering a quiet oasis with breezy balconies and a peaceful garden. If you are looking for a relaxing place to spend some time, in an intimate setting surrounding by the sea, the mountains, the birds and the trees, look no further. Everything you could ask for is right here.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

I was in this lovely house for a week. This is the real Mexico---before it was overrun with high-rises! Out in the country, with all the amenities you need, and near the bigger villages and cities. The home is beautiful and well maintained. The owners are delightful. The beach is lovely. Saw the most magnificient sunrises and sunsets! Lots of Canadians and Americans, who are very friendly, as are the native population. A variety of restaurants, all with great food. You will enjoy the home and the things to do around the area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I had the great fortune to stay at this home and spend time in Lo De Marcos. The house is wonderful with all the comforts of home. What a fantastic way to spend your time in Mexico. The beach at Lo De Marcos is beautiful and isolated from the tourist crowds. But within 15 minutes north or south you can visit tourist sites such as Sayulita, San Francisco or Guayavitas. We enjoyed visiting the sites but coming home to the peace and quiet of this town and home. The description of the house and town are very true if not understated. There are lovely spots on the beach (a two block walk from the house) to eat meals. And if you just want to stay home the kitchen has everything you need. We can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for six days at this property at Lo De Marcos. The owners and caretaker were very friendly, honest, and accommodating. The house is clean and has plenty of room and a beautiful new kitchen. The town of Lo De Marcos is secluded from all of the resorts and tourism and allows you to experience the real life of the people that live there. A fifteen minute drive will put you in towns such as Sayulita where you can also experience the many opportunities that are offered to tourists. I would recommend this rental and town to anyone who wants to get a feel of the Mexican Riviera without being surrounded by other tourists. The people are extremely hospitable and kind. We felt safe and welcome and plan to return as soon as we can.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I'm reluctant to share too much about our travels as I fear that the best kept secrets we have discovered then become tomorrow's new hot spot, overcrowded and spoiled. I'm going to risk it this one time because if you are considering this property in Lo de Marcos, you have already heard about its many allures - its natural beauty and the beauty of its people topping a very long list. Lo de Marcos is the real Mexico, not the superficial smothered by tourism. When traveling we use to book at well known hotels as we felt quality would be in our favor. After enough lumpy beds, noisy neighbors and a lack of customer service for the price, we turned to VRBO. What we found in Lo de Marcos was beyond our expectations. Not only did we get a beautiful two-story home but one that was ultra comfy, wonderfully cared-for, clean and convenient. Having so much space and a fully equipped kitchen makes for a wonderful week or two of relaxation and enjoyment. Everything stated in this property's profile was understated. It was more than we imagined and at a price most affordable in comparison to comparable homes. We will certainly return and hopefully our dates of stay won't coincide with yours!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

My husband and I enjoyed this lovely property several months ago. The house is a delight and the furnishings are stylish AND comfortable. The house is as described and was immaculate. The street level patio is beautifully landscaped in the spare Spanish style and the beach is a short stroll away. Don't miss lunch on the beach. We are looking forward to a return visit at some point in the future when we hope to use the downstairs apartment as guest quarters for our daughter.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: My wife and I are retired California teachers. We moved to Texas to be near our son and his family. On our first trip to the Mexican Riviera we were awe stricken by the natural beauty of the beaches and the surrounding landscape. We knew immediately that we wanted a vacation home there and couldn't be happier with it.
Why the Owner Chose Lo De Marcos:
We live inland in Texas and have missed the sounds, aroma and playful fun of the ocean. Being located a short walk from the beach provides us with many opportunities to boogey board, ride the waves or just enjoy a margarita as the sun sets in Lo de Marcos.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Having now spent several winters in Mexico, we have found compatible friends not only among the Canadians or Americans that travel every year to escape the harsh winters, but also with the local people who live year-round in Lo de Marcos. As a musician I was surprised to find venues in Lo de Marcos and in the adjacent towns where I could hear local talent performing and even participate in the festivals.
My wife never runs short of exceptional subjects for her photography.
