TEQUILA SUNSET - You begin your trip to paradise by taking a 4 to 5 minute barge ride from the mainland to the island (one barge pass included in rental). You will be met and made welcome by our very friendly and informational caretaker. He will help you get settled in, answer any questions you may have and help you become acquainted with our island. He will provide you with a golf cart, which is included in the rental so you can explore the island at your leisure or take it to the island resort (golf carts only), where you can dine at a wonderful restaurant, get a pizza, or ice cream cone or visit their gift shop.
You will be welcomed to our very comfortable home, which has a spacious open floor plan. The most impressive feature is a front wall of sliding glass doors, which open up to an uninterrupted view of the Gulf of Mexico. You can sit at the kitchen table and watch as the dolphins swim by or pelicans dive for their meals. You can walk down the steps from the large wrap around deck and step out onto the clean white sand and walk the quiet beach either way and discover all the treasures of this beautiful island. You have before you 7 miles of discovery of all the gifts that are offered to you by nature on this perfect little barrier island. There are shells of many sizes and shapes, sharks teeth, and beautiful sand dollars.
We also offer a private dock for fishing for redfish, trout, schnook, and grouper to name a few. Or you can just lie in the palm tree shaded hammock and enjoy the peace that comes over you when you leave the real world behind.
Pets are allowed with advanced notice and an extra security deposit. Why leave your four legged friends at home when they can enjoy the island with you. No smoking inside the house please. We do all that we can to make sure your stay in our island paradise home is one you will remember.

We recommend this house 100% Before we went to Don Pedro Island, Gerry, the owner was great answering all our questions and very accommodating with our rental needs. Also a very easy and painless leasing process. Then we got there... WOW! What a place! Thank you Gerry for renting us your house. We enjoyed the week so much. The house is very nice, comfortable, opened space. And the view is amazing! In the mornings as we were having breakfast, we would see dolphins swimming in the gulf. Miles of beach with literally millions of sea shells, many shark teeth also. God permitting we will rent again next year. Anyone looking to take a brake from the daily running around and the craziness we learned to call life, this is the place to disconnect and relax. Key word: RELAX The house is fully equipped with linens, all cookware, kitchen utensils. Basically, all you need to bring is food, personal hygiene products and swimming suits and you're ready! Also, Jack, the caretaker is very friendly, helpful and discrete. If you don't knock on his door, you won't even know he's there. Again, we had a great time. Looking forward too next time. Even Spotty our dog, had a blast!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed here for a week last summer (2010) and really had a great time!! The house is large, comfortable, warm and inviting. It is across a narrow path from the beach, basically beachfront. The dock on back side of the house was a great "babysitter" when the kids got up early to fish and the adults could sleep in a bit. The kids were ages 10, 9, 8 and 5 and I felt very safe having them out there fishing. They would say the coolest thing was Papa giving them money each morning and letting them ride their bikes to Palm Island to have ice cream for breakfast! Because cars have to come over on a ferry and there is limited use for a car, the kids were safe on their bikes. Once you drop off your things at the house, you can leave your car on the mainland your next trip back and not pay as much for the ferry; which is much cheaper for pedestrians than cars. My husband did not like the isolation from shopping and restaurants and having to depend on a ferry, but everyone else thought it was tolerable because it made the island safer without cars. The beach is beautiful, not many people and you can easily see from the kitchen and front master bedroom. It was nice to watch the dolphins go by and cook out on the deck. There was a caretaker who lived downstairs in a separate apartment. We rarely saw him, but he was helpful if we needed him. I am actually on this site now, writing a review a year later, because we are trying to pick a spot for this year's beach trip and I realized I never wrote a review. I recommend this house, especially if you have kids, because it is affordable and feels like a family lives here. The owner was nice and easy to work with.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car.
