Looking for a warm, comfortable, charming, safe and convenient place to call home while visiting magical Antigua, Guatemala? Look no further! Our fully-equipped home has all the conveniences of modern living, with the old world charm of Central America.
It is an ideal house for couples, families, groups of friends, volunteers at the many nonprofit organizations surrounding Antigua, those who are attending Spanish school, or anyone who simply wants a peaceful place to enjoy beautiful Guatemala.
The house is located within walking distance of everything in Antigua. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Central Park, dozens of restaurants (just 5 minutes to the famous Hotel Panza Verde), the best grocery store, the food and craft markets, a wonderful spa, a gym, and even a movie theater.
The exact location is 9th Calle Poniente between 5th Avenida Sur and Santa Lucia. It is a small, gated community of townhomes with two security men on duty 24-hours a day. Our cheerful home is located at the back of the property, across from the pool, and farthest from the cobblestone street so the noise of traffic is far away and you can sleep peacefully, waking to the cacophony of birds in the trees behind the house.
The house has everything you need to make your stay in Antigua comfortable and memorable. The colorful dishes, fabrics, and wall hangings bring Guatemala indoors, and locally-made rod-iron chandeliers in the upstairs rooms hang from 15 foot ceilings. The modern kitchen has a good selection of pots, pans, and utensils to make cooking easy, and you can stay connected to the rest of the world through the cable TV and desk top computer with fast and reliable high-speed interent access. The comfortable beds are fitted 100 percent cotton sheets and the bath towels and pool towels are 100 percent cotton. The full-sized washer and dryer will make vacation laundry a breeze. You'll also appreciate the screened windows (unusual in Antigua) that will keep the mosquitoes out so you can enjoy the great Antigua weather all year round.
Upon your arrival you will find the Welcome Book, complete with helpful information about restaurants, sites, activities, excursions, and tips about the house. Our American property manager lives in Antigua and is available to help you book tours and transportation, and answer other questions you may have.
So, enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee while sitting on the tiled patio watching your kids swim in the huge pool just in front of the house. Or stroll the grounds and look up to see the volcano Agua keeping a watchful eye on you, while you pick limes from the garden trees.
And at the end of a day spent in Antigua, you'll be happy to return to our quiet and peaceful community. You'll walk through the gates, be greeted by the security men who are always on duty, return to our lovely casita and feel instantly at home!

Thank you so much for opening your home to our family. It was bigger and nicer than we imagined. It felt like we were walking into our own home. The thoughtful finishing touches make it feel warm and homey. It was the perfect size and location for our family with 2 little kids. Your neighbors were so kind and welcoming, too. It was perfect for our stay in Antigua. Thank you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I'm so glad you liked staying in our Antigua house. We love it there and it always makes me happy when others experience the magic of Antigua and house little home, also. Thanks for posting your comments! - Julie (the owner)

My friend and I stayed at Las Arcadias for 5 days. The condo was exactly as described and the pictures were very accurate. The condo was very clean and well maintained. Nancy (Guatemalareservations.com) was very, very helpful in all aspects of our stay....always answered her phone and was so patient in answering all of our many questions without hesitation. The condo has a great floor plan and the security is top notch...the pool is fine, although the pump was not working. The BBQ pit could use some cleaning up....you need charcoal if you're going to use it. The grate needs to be covered with aluminum foil. Also, be aware that you can't flush toilet paper in this condo due to the plumbing...but this is the case in most of Antigua. All in all, I would recommend renting vs a hotel ...cheaper and you have all the amenities. Be aware that all the bedrooms are upstairs, with only a half bath down....not for the elderly or disabled. Great TV and computer....although the computer had a few problems , but Nancy was getting it fixed when we were leaving. Grocery store is close by and cheap. Would definitely come back and I recommend this property 100% !Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I'm belatedly thanking you for your really nice posting about our townhouse in Antigua that you stayed at in October. I'm so glad it worked out for you and that it was pretty much what you expected it to be. Nancy is, indeed, a jewel and really makes it possible for us to offer our home to renters like you. I hope you will return! I'm ready to get away and enjoy the peace of Antigua! Again, thanks - Julie (the owner)

Our family of 5, including 3 teens, enjoyed our recent week in Guatemala. The property manager was incredibly helpful with all our questions before we traveled, and the townhome couldn't have been more perfect for us. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well located to enjoy all that Antigua offers. Our teens enjoyed the pools, within sight of the condo, while my wife and I relaxed with coffee on the patio. The complex guard helped us negotiate pizza delivery for the kids our first evening and arranged for a tuk tuk so my wife and I could enjoy dinner out. Day trips for climbing the Volcano Pacaya, kayaking on Lake Atitlan, and zip lining at Finca Filadelfia were favorites with our teens. We won't hesitate to stay here on our next vacation in paradise.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: I am very belatedly thanking you for posting your kind comments about our townhouse in Antigua that you stayed at last Spring. I'm so glad that it worked out for you and your family. We love it there and try to visit at least once a year. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to return, too! Again, many thanks -- Julie (the owner)

The townhouse we stayed in was terrific! Clean, safe, quiet and comfy. The property manager was very responsive to everything we needed. The only issue we had was we thought the attendent at the front gate could arrange a taxi for us, but he said he didn't have a phone. We worked around that just fine. All in all, a great place for a family to stay and highly recommended. However, I was not comfortable walking down the street after dark and recommend a taxi into town or food delivery after dark. Frida's has great Mexican food, though a bit pricey, and they deliver.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+.

The condo was well appointed with great kitchen stuff, great towels, sheets and bed spreads. The location was very quiet even on New Years Eve. The only thing I would ask for would be a working cold water faucet to the washing machine. Everything else was wonderful.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children.

On our recent trip to the Guatemalan highlands we rented this townhouse with a group of friends. The home was in a quiet area of a gated complex, yet still easy walking distance to most of Antigua. The house was very well furnished and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable week.Any questions we had were promptly replyed to. Antigua is a beautiful city with much to see and many great restaurants. Don't miss a coffe at least at what has to be the most beautiful McDonald's anywhere. All in all a most enjoyable stay that I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit AntiguaRecommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

You have no idea how wonderful it was for our family to stay here! We were dropped at another house that we were told was in Antigua but was actually in San Pedro Las Huertas. After a stressful first night we found your wonderful house and enjoyed it for three weeks. We had the perfect proximity to parque central (a 10 minute walk with two small kids) and a wonderful quiet house at all hours. The two pools were perfect and the garden area allowed for a lot of play time with the kids. When we return to Guatemala, we'll stay here again without hesitation. It was the perfect place for out family to call home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We live in Washington, D.C. I run a nonprofit organization and my husband is the Dean of the University of Baltimore School of Law. We have two daughters, ages 13 and 10, who love our house in Guatemala!
Why the Owner Chose Antigua:
We fell in love with Antigua during the adoption of our youngest daughter from Guatemala in 2003. After returning for visits for a couple of years and staying in other people's houses, we decided to buy our own house because we always want a connection to Guatemala.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Our house feels like home. It's very comfortable and welcoming and it takes no time to feel as if you belong there. It's proximity to central Antigua is perfect: you're close enough to walk to everything in 10 minutes but far enough away to escape the noise. You'll awake to birds chirping instead of the sound of cars bumping over cobblestone streets. It's also wonderful to have such easy access to the pool (which is hardly ever used) and the grassy open space. You can invite your friends over to swim or host a party in the grassy area in front of our house. The security men provide tables and chairs to seat a large group, at no extra cost. Make the most of your stay in this charming city and our welcoming house!
