This is a perfect place for a quiet get-a-away or wonderful alternative to a required hotel stay.
Due to the setting it's best:
-for 1 or 2 people
-couple with a baby
-corporate stay in the Lexington area . (rowing
machine to help you stay in shape.)
-snowbirds in transit or scoping the area
-visiting family in the area, but prefer your privacy
Sorry, but there is no place to dock a boat or park a trailer. If you are renting a boat for a day, then check with the owners about a temorary dock .
If you stay a week and could leave the lake, it's two hours from Charleston, SC. Downtown Columbia is 35/40 minutes away and the zoo (30 minutes) State Museum and children's museum are well worth the visit. Restaurants and many shopping choices are in Lexington which is an 18 minute drive. A few restaurants and grocery stores are an easy 10 minute drive to the guest house.
TWO KAYAKS are available to enjoy our large cove or go explore Shull Island.
Accommodations: Den and kitchen with island on one floor. Downstairs 600 sq. ft. with a queen bed and sitting area. Sleeps 2- one queen bed downstairs.
Three large windows overlooking the lake. We have all new appliances, including granite counter tops and HD TV with Dish Satellite.
There is a deck off the lower level for enjoying the lake view and for kayak access.
I can send more pictures if needed.

Spent a relaxing couple of days here. Fred went fishing and caught Sat evenings dinner. The cottage is so clean and comfortable. We felt right at home here. Captain Chris' Fishing Guide Service is great. He is very knowledgable about the lake and Fred (already an avid fisherman) learned a few things from him. Well, we did return and once again had a delightful time in your beautiful cottage. Although the weather was cooler, we still golfed "a lot" everyday. We played different courses this trip & loved the town of Aiken & their beautiful golf course. Ellen & Andy, what can we say except a very big thank you for your wonderful hospitality. You were very gracious.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are so very greatful to have found your beautiful cottage on Lake Murray. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and your graceful hospitality. Our days were spent golfing (7 times) :))), relaxing by the lake enjoying the view and your piece of "paradise." We were more than delighted to have been able to spend our "last golf games of the year" in the "best of the best" accomodations. We shall return!! Blessings and in peace.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Great place to just kick back. We stayed here for our sons Army graduation and was so happy after hearing reviews from the local hotels. We were so impressed with the owners and how they treat all their guests. The place has everything you need to just relax.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a peaceful, relaxing way to spend our 44th anniversary. Morning coffee on the deck looking out over the lake. The sounds of nature. Water lapping on the shore line, a humming bird passing by, 23 geese landing in front of us with a splash ready to be fed by the neighbor. Thanks to Lonnie for sharing the feeding of his fish in the evening. What a treat. Thanks Lonnie. Thank you Ellen and Andy for the Lake House.Did you find this review helpful? Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your cottage. Even more beautiful than the pictures! It was the PERFECT place to bring our soldier son after graduation! He just wanted to relax and he did just that! And we were able to cook him a steak on the grill! Thank you for all of your great advice on places to visit. I hope we will be able to visit again someday!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were looking for a quiet and peaceful weekend without having to drive a long distance from charlotte. Bingo! Your cottage fit the bill perfectly. We love the house, and appreciate how cozy and comfortable you have made it. We rented a pontoon boat for a day and truly loved cruising this beautiful lake! Thank you for opening this cottage to us!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Ellen and Andy, You have a beautifuil spot here. It was everything we hoped for and more. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet you this time, but I'm sure we'll be back. From the kayaks and the lake, to the great roads for running and biking, we wish we could stay much longer!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
About the owner: My husband, Andy, is a retired airline pilot who flew for Pan Am and then Delta Airlines. He commuted to NY in order to live on the lake. He is now a golfer and can gladly help you with any area golf questions. I am a former French teacher and will gladly help you with lake questions or anything else.
Why the Owner Chose Lexington:
My husband cut 100 trees from our property in 1993 and started a 'project' with the lumber he had from the trees. He had planned for it to be a place for projects. Hence-part of the reason for the bathroom upstairs. He would work a while and then quit for a year or so. We finally decided to finish it as a guest house in order to use it for our own personal guests. We have another vrbo on Lake Murray and enjoy sharing it and the lake! That helped us decide to use the guest house as a vrbo also.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Use the private dock for grilling or just relaxing by the lake. Some just enjoy the beautiful view from inside the cottage. It is a large space for 2 people-Quiet and cozy. Perfect for relaxation! The kayaks are such fun.
