Gray Gate is a Walled Indoor\Outdoor Estate Home in the very best neighborhood on the Island and is about 5 miles from the Airport and 5 miles to St. John's. The house can be rented with Living Room, Front Porch, Back Porch with Ocean View, Laundry Room, Kitchen and Dining Room as a 1 Bedroom, 3 Bedrooms or a 4 Bedrooms. We have a separate Guest House that allows this flexibility and the main house bedrooms can be locked off. So you can rent just the Guest House and the living areas of the main house or just the Main House or the Main House and the Guest House. The living room is very large and open on 2 ends and has a great view of the ocean. This home is really a indoor\outdoor home with large glass doors on 1 side facing due east and 14ft teak folding doors on the other to capture the super trade winds that cool the house. You don't need AC in this home! Year Round Antiuga Temps are about 73 to 86 Degrees. It cools off nicely at night.
The dining room is completely open on 2 sides and the table can seat up to about 8 with the included extra table top. Connected to the Living Room and Dining Room is the Kitchen. In the kitchen you will find everything you need to cook up a fabulous meal and you can see the ocean while cooking! Included in the main house is the master bedroom with a new tempurpedic King Mattress with nice new bedding and lots of King pillows and lots of closet space. The master bedroom has a connecting Bathroom with bathtub. You can see the ocean from this bedroom. There is a full bathroom with a shower just off the hall and that is next to the front bedroom. This front bedroom is large and also has a new King Bed with new bedding and lots of pillows. There is a sitting area and lots of new lighting and closet space.
Across from the hall bath is the card room\bedroom. This room is really 2 rooms(a wall was taken out) and it is very large with lots of closet space, sitting area with coffee table and about 6 chairs and 2 twin beds with all new bedding and new pillows. You can see the ocean from this room. The guest house is separate from the main house, but has access to the Living Room, Porches, Dining Room and Kitchen. The Guest House has a Queen Bed with new bedding and pillows, large walk in closet and full bathroom with shower\tub. On our property we also have a full Laundry Room with twin wash tubs and a clothes washing machine, Tool Shed and Generator Room. There is a large Driveway and lots of room for parking for as many as 10 cars. We rent an economy car from Lille for about $200 per week at the airport. She will have the paperwork done and the car will be waiting for you when you clear customs.
Antigua has been my families Island home for 40 years and this home has everything you might need for a nice Holiday. We have had the same housekeeper who comes on Mondays for 36 years and the same Gardner for 18 years. They have known the house for 36 years so if you need some help they are close by.

We spent two weeks on our honeymoon at Gray Gate and couldn’t have wished for any better. Antigua was wonderful. The house and landscaping are beautiful, a testament to Colin and Violette. We met Violette briefly and she was very pleasant. We were fortunate to have Colin around from time to time. He was great to hang out with and talk about the house and the island. He’s a genuinely good person. We enjoyed most every morning cooking and eating breakfast on the outside porch while looking out at the ocean. The sunrise came right over a small island seen from the back porch. We thoroughly enjoyed everything on the island. Definitely pay attention to Stephen’s suggestions/information list. A rental car was a must. We were all over the island from day to day. The map you get from the rental place(we used Alamo) is really all you need. There are a few main roads that lead to everything if you pay attention to the signs. If you do need directions, everyone we talked to was extremely helpful. Shirley Heights was very fun on Sunday. The steel band played, followed by a local band. Food was great, views one of a kind. Devil’s bridge was very cool, very unique. Half moon bay also had that uniqueness with its shape and the fact that it had waves enough to body surf. It was our favorite beach of the dozen or so we visited. For beach entertainment we liked Dickenson a lot. Dave down at Sneaky Pete’s was able to get us set up for many different activities. The jungle zipline was really cool. The house was extremely relaxing and serene. We had no problems with anything in the house. We cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner almost every day and did laundry without issue. We stayed in the guest house and didn’t have a problem with mosquitoes inside at all. It stayed cool with the ceiling fan and breeze. The bed was very comfortable. We kept spray and mosquito coils going when hanging out on the back patio or in the main house and didn't get bit very often. We hope to be back very soon and will definitely stay at Gray Gate again. Stephen was very easy to deal with, upfront and honest about the house and what to expect. We would definitely recommend staying at Gray Gate.Did you find this review helpful? Absolutely best vacation we have ever had! We refrained from telephone and tv for 8 days.Your descriptions and recommendations are spot on. The home is beautiful and relaxing.Perfect location on the Island. The yellow flambouyants on the property are remarkable.Enjoyed the birds and lizards as well.We rented a car and had adventures daily. We are seasoned travellers but were really impressed with Grey Gate and Antigua. Falmouth and English Harbors,Nelsons Dockyard,Shirley Heights,Downtown is really interesting with all of the cultural and historical goings on.We can't speak enough about the southwestern beaches.Turners beach was almost a daily event. Loved the local foods roadside or exquisite Bluewater Hotel waterside.Everybody we met were friendly and helpful. We highly recommend to anybody. Get out and explore! We appreciate your family sharing the home.We love the family photos on the fridge! And many thanks to Violet and Colin for taking care of us. Thanks again Steve and Amy. We love the property.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

What an amazing home in an amazing location on an amazing island - sounds repetitive but Antigua and Gray Gate were truly wonderful. The home is in a great location away from the middle of St.John but close enough to all of the beaches and destinations while still feeling extremely private. Truly paradise. The trade winds kept the home pleasant, even in the middle of the day. We spent our mornings eating breakfast on the balcony and gazing at the Caribbean. We loved cooking in the well-stocked kitchen, going to the nearby grocery store and enjoying the private beach, all within a walk or short drive. Antigua is a beautiful island and I can't recommend renting a car and exploring on your own highly enough. There really are an amazing amount of quiet beaches that open up to clear blue waters after you've driven through lush flora and even a rainforest. We recommend one of the circumnavigation tours that several of the boat companies offer - it's a lot of fun, good snorkeling, food, people and sightseeing. We had a great trip on a magnificent island and Gray Gate helped to not only facilitate but also to create part of our experience. We will be back and can't imagine our trip without it!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

For those who don't enjoy the congestion and lack of privacy of a resort, this is perfect! Set in a beautiful residential neighborhood, yet within walking distance of a prestigious resort/restaurant, this house is a world apart. Easy drive to groceries, restaurants, fabulous beaches, it's the perfect base for an Antiguan holiday. The best (& reasonable) food we had was near the house--Opus, on the way to Dickenson Beach; no view but atmospheric setting. Half Moon Bay captured our hearts, and had the best from-shore snorkeling (not as rough as it looks) on this trip. Stephen, the owner, was very responsive to our needs, and his contacts on the island were very helpful and gracious. Thanks!Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

We had a lovely week in Antigua. Your home is delightful. I love the layout. We enjoyed the steel drums, beaches, snorkeling and weather - very breezy - with only a few mosquitoes. The restaurants served delicious meals but we agree that prices are a little high. Thank You for sharing your lovely home with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had the most amazing experience at Grey Gate and with Antugua. The view from the back porch is simply amazing. The beautiful breeze that came into the bedroom was so wonderful to wake up to. The people that we met everwhere we went were sweet as can be and we can't wait to go back. Dreamy!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

When we arrived at Gray Gate, the house was exactly as described. I spoke with Stephen quite a few times up until our travel. He did not miss a beat in describing Gray Gate at all. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. Their was 6 of us who stayed for a week and enjoyed everyday there. The views from the house are beautiful especially on the back patio. The location can not be better due to family staying at Blue Waters it was just down the hill, it was perfect. There are beautiful beaches within 10 minutes by car, we went to them daily. You could also walk down the hill as well and walk into Blue Waters and out on to the beach. We did not have any problems in doing so at all. We highly recommend to try the Trade Winds Hotel Restaurant, The Bayhouse. The food was great, it has a beautiful views of the crystal blue water and the people who work their were wonderful. We also recommend trying Peppers and Lime a restaurant on the beach next to Sandels Resort, it is Mexican and great as well. We went to Shirley Heights on Sunday and watched the sunset over the harbor which was amazing! I would definitely recommend it to friends and family, we look forward to returning again in the future!! Thank you Stephen for such a wonderful experience in staying in your home.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us! We did not use the guest house as one of our friends were not able to make it. I loved waking to the sunrise and breeze off the ocean. The birds were a pleasure... they came to advise us in the back if the sugar and fruit was empty in the front!! We could not have asked for more. The drain problem was no big deal... just wanted to have you get it fixed for the next ppl We are all laid back and did not worry about things too much.... causes gray hair ya know! Driving on the wrong side of the street worked out great as my son in law spend almost a year in Australia a couple of years back.... My husband tried it and decided it was not in our best interest to have him drive!! The rum was cheap and tasty!! Again my thanks to you and Amy for sharing Sincerely Dallas and JohnDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hey Stephen, well, we're sadly back home to the grind, again, after a beautiful week in Antigua. Grey Gate was the perfect get away spot to stay in the island. The guest house was just perfect for the 2 of us. The rest of the property was just beautiful and well maintained, especially by Colin and Violet, who were both very helpful and nice. Thank you for the opportunity to rent the guest house; we will recommended it and speak highly about it. It is conveniently located, (once we figured out our ways around it) with ample parking and an spectacular view to the ocean. We will definitely come back to Antigua, hopefully in the near future, and we would love to stay at Grey Gate again. Thank you very much for all of your help.
