Lovely Vacation Retreat

We think this is a very special place to relax and refuel. We've tried to keep the house simple yet aesthetically pleasing. You can find lots to do in the area, or you can just hang out on our deck, where there's a lovely view, or at our pond, which has its own small pond house. If you like hiking and wandering we have about 120 acres of mostly forested land. In the winter there's a great sledding hill. If you like to cook, the kitchen is completely equipped. The house is set up so that there are private areas and public areas. You can get away, or congregate. It's the kind of house where you'll have a wonderful vacation whether you ski or just relax and enjoy the beauty of our place.
Each bedroom is private. There's one with a king-size bed, and 2 bedrooms have queens. The children's room has two twin beds, toys, books. There's a futon in the rec room, which is on a separate floor and has it's own bathroom and TV.
We've owned and loved this house since the sixties, but do rent it out occasionally. In summer it's available in June. The rest of the year we are flexible.
Note: The postal address for this house is Brattleboro, but the house is actually in the town of Wilmington.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1965
About the owner: We are a family of musicians and writers, and we think the house shows it. There's a good electric piano, there are music stands, games (I'm a Scrabble fan) and plenty of privacy for quiet reading. This is the perfect house for those who don't go skiing, as the house is such a pleasure. Food shopping and a big drugstore are ten minutes away, yet the privacy is perfection.
Why the Owner Chose Wilmington:
We first built this house in 1965, and enlarged and modernized it in '95. We chose to come here because we love Vermont, and Wilmington is within reach of both Boston and New York, as it's just over the Mass. border. There's plenty to do here, but it's not all frantic traffic and street density as it is on Cape Cod or in the Hampton's.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
There's something about sitting on our deck and looking at the view that is totally relaxing. Then there's that walk to the pond and the pleasure of watching children in the rubber boat and the inflatable tires. In the summer there are concerts at Marlboro, The Yellow Barn, and Shelbourne. When the shopping urge gets us there are all the big outlets in Manchester, VT, one hour away. In winter there's Mount Snow or Stratton--or you can just snow shoe in our woods.
