Not Clean

When we arrived I was upset firstly to see the bad furnishings. It was sparse and the furniture old. There were three deck chairs which were resin, stained and dirty. Two of the chairs were broken. I was glad I had forethought into bringing camp chairs. There were no cleaning supplies in the unit and it was dirty. I had to go and buy rubber gloves, cleaner and cloths to clean the bathroom and dust. There was not even a battery in the tv remote so we had to go get one. The one good thing was that there was a view of the ocean. I was also surprised that there was not a cutting board so the counters would not be ruined.
Owner response:The guest who stayed in my unit from 8/22 for a week has submitted a negative comment about my unit. I am addressing some of the comments here - the furnishings are not sparse in my opinion and I have never had a complaint in the 10 years I have owned and rented. The easy chair is new from Ikea, but maybe the guest likes really cushy furniture. The couch is old but with a beautiful design and kept up. I was aware the deck chairs were stained and broken, and I thought I gave an order to my manager over a year ago to replace them, but haven't been up to the unit to check, and nobody complained, so I have now ordered replacements. As to the level of cleanliness, the property manager I use has a very good reputation for high standards for cleaning - he is checking into the complaint as I speak and if correct will either discipline or fire the housekeeper who cleaned prior to this guest. He is also checking for missing TV remote batteries and the alleged missing cutting board, which will be taken care of promptly. None of these problems were reported to the property manager in the week the guest was there. However, I have a rental agent who now tells me there was a lot of dissatisfaction by this guest who looked at the unit a few weeks before she took it, and was told she could cancel subject to our posted cancellation policy - a rain check at any of my properties with a 10% cancellation for short notice. Knowing the unit was as it was, she chose to take it rather than note any problems or take the rain check and penalty. This comment is not forthright, and it is absurd that without asking for items that could easily be remedied or taking a rain check into one of my other properties, she should now go out of her way to give me a black mark, when I always do everything possible to accommodate my guests.

I have to say that the accommodations at this establishment are very good. Grant it, I do NOT agree with the extra person charge of $15 per night. But.. the management is very cordial and the rooms are very nice. I personally figure that if you are in a room that allows and has beds etc for more then 2 you should NOT have to pay for extras. Lord knows, the motels/hotels already charge enough for that.. I however prefer to stay at this motel when in the area as it is very nice, fully stocked as far as survival, and comfy. Very close to access to the ocean also.

Sitting in a cozy apartment, staring out at the ocean, is one of my best treats. I love to pop out here for a relaxing weekend, and Stanley's condos are all comfortable and nicely decorated. They are well situated for all I enjoy doing in Ocean Shores.
