Quaint and unexpected - A bright, quietly comfortable, fully restored 1923 Craftsman cottage. 'Erehwon Retreat' breaks you out of cookie cutter hotel rooms and is so well equipped you can travel lighter. Our guests are looking for a true breakaway, romantic weekend, honeymoon, job transfer, vacation or home purchase trip, college admission tour, girl getaway and often are history buffs.
The tranquil interior includes genuine bead-board living room, ceramic tile floors, ceiling fans and is completed with 1920's antiques, Arts & Craft hardware and an ongoing rotation of ceramic art. Outside, there's a cozy covered front porch with bamboo palms and a variety of gardenias plus sprawling Laurel oaks and 90-year old Camphor trees provide a cool canopy year round.
Erehwon Retreat is in the middle of a national, state and locally designated historic district - Old Seminole Heights. Centrally located in Tampa near I-275 & Hillborough Ave. exit, you have easy access to the city and local attractions, including museums, restaurants, and meeting locations, as well as Central Florida tourist interests (Busch Gardens, USF, TBPAC 10 mins., Univ of Tampa, Tampa General, State Fairgrounds 14 mins. Bok Tower, Clearwater, St. Petersburg 30 mins., Sarasota 75 mins., Winter Park, Disney World & Harry Potter Park at Universal Studios 85 mins., NASA, Cape Canaveral 2 hours).
We are committed to making you feel at home. Bringing the mid 1920's Arts and Craft design, attitude and style one guest at a time. Sorry, but the designed experience, occupancy, zoning and insurance do not permit us to host more than 2 guests in the cottage.
All full week (six night/seven day) bookings begin on a Sunday/ Monday, except over Christmas and New Year when other start days may apply. For bookings of two weeks or more, each week will be priced in the date band it falls in.
Supplements may be charged on specific dates where demand is high due to a special event locally .
There are two lengths of short break: 3-nights starting on a Friday and 4-nights starting on a Monday.
Short breaks are bookable at most times of the year. Exceptions apply in high season (mid December to mid April) where they may only be booked 2 weeks in advance.
Erehwon Retreat is a vacation property for out of local area renters.

This quaint little cottage was truly our "home away from home" during our two week stay in Tampa. The location was great and all the little extras that the owner provides made this a very pleasurable experience. We would highly recommend Erehwon Retreat to anyone visiting the Tampa area. We especially appreciated the super comfortable bed!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely cottage recently. It was perfect in every way. The owner, Henry, has an eye for detail. The amenities were truly special from the well stocked kitchen to the linens. This cottage is in a lovely neighborhood, convenient to the interstate as well as local restaurants. I particularly enjoyed The Refinery, a wonderful farm to table restaurant. Henry is a most charming and knowledgable host. And did I mention, Marie, the resident massage therapist? Absolutely divine. I am looking forward to visiting again and would recommend the cottage wholeheartedly.Owner response: Many thanks for your review. So happy we met upon my return from consulting in Charleston. Look forward to seeing you again.

We had a wonderful stay in your very nice Hansel and Gretle house. To be in the middle of Old Seminole Heights was a great experience. Your information in the books you make available as well as conversations with you gave us a good plan for the possibilities to go out and explore Florida. It's been very nice talking with you at the end of the day or as we leave in the morning. We enjoyed the extras in the house, the nice bed, the cooking and the big organge (dutch color) beach towels. Thanks you Marta for making us feel at home in such a clean house. And last thanks for Thomas, the cat.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Erehwon Retreat cottage. Small but met most of our needs. Good location except its 25 miles to a beach:( We had a wonderful day at Caladesi State Park Island. The Golf in the area was perfect (the Claw at USF, Northdale, Rogers Park. Good shopping all within driving range. AND, we had perfect weather:)Did you find this review helpful? Thank you so much Henry for sharing your precious cottage with us. We were so happy and serene here that we've decided we would love to have a Craftsman cottage! So we bought a home in the area until our dream is hopefully fulfilled. We had all the amenities and then some. Great location. We loved sharing with you and wish we had more time. Our son's wedding was blessed and so were we to stay with you for two weeks. Will send you pics. Hope to return. Loved your kitty and the geco lizards.Did you find this review helpful? Tampa has been a great stay for me, seven days of bike riding with new friends. Wonderful restaurants - Ella's yum! Chihully Collection - wonderful. And each evening to come back and relax and sink into a wonderfully comfortable bed at Erehwon Retreat. Life doesn't get better than this. Thanks for the unique stay in Tampa, Henry.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thanks for a wonderful stay! We definitely appreciated all the special amenities and attention to detail to make our stay so comfortable. All was immaculate and in your absence Henry, Marie and Marta made sure we were well taken care of. The information in the cottage and your welcome book for restaurants, trails etc were SO complete. It was certainly convenient to our daughter as well. We enjoyed the quiet, laid back neighborhood and some wonderful walks. All the pictures from home in Indiana showed lots of snow! So it was wonderful to enjoy Tampa weather. Only place we've ever stayed with a stocked refrigerator and all the extras in the cabinets. Forgot to mention how awesome the bedding and towels were!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My father visited for Thanksgiving and stayed at the cottage, which is near my home in Tampa. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen was both well equipped and spacious enough to have others over for a meal whether prepared on site or brought in. The outside space was nicely landscaped and peaceful. The location was great: easy access to major roads, close to downtown, near to shops, restaurants and great walking in the surrounding neighborhood. Henry made us feel very welcome and was extremely patient and accommodating while we sorted out arrival and departure dates! We thought it was an excellent value and would not hesitate in recommending this great cottage to friends and family! Thanks again for the memorable holiday weekend.Did you find this review helpful?
