  What a fabulous home to vacation in with your entire family! We had a total of 9 on one night and there was more than enough room!! Large rooms with plenty of lounging space, comfy chairs with reading lights, large indoor tub, comfy mattresses that made for a peaceful night's sleep. The large dining room was adequate to seat everyone for a meal or play games at night AND the home is professionally decorated. And should I mention the large outdoor deck with hammock? We also enjoyed having a washer and dryer at our disposal. The walk to the beach was quick! Our family is already talking about coming back for next year. The owner was very accommodating and even used green products after I told him I had an asthma attack prior to vacation. Oh yes one more thing, I was able to bring my dog on vacation, that made me very happy :) The listing description was accurate, photos were current, property was clean and maintained. We had much fun exploring towns located on Lake Michigan.

  The cottage is just like what's represented in the photos ... fantastic!. Appreciated the blend of period charm updated with just the right amount of the modern comforts: WiFi is speedy, more than enough supplied in the way of cable channels, games, ipod docking ...etc. Neighborhood was always quiet and felt very, very safe. Little in the way of traffic during the day and none at night. The property was well maintained and clean, and so is the neighborhood. Union Pier itself is a great place to stay. No large condo developments or roudy crowds - just small-town friendliness and a relaxing atmosphere. Beach is close by - everyone from toddlers to seniors and in between should be able to feel comfortable on it. We prefer to walk to restaurants while on vacation; there were a couple within 5 minutes walk that we enjoyed. Finally, working with the owner was stress free; no problems or surprises. Had the good fortune to chat a bit when checking in - he's a swell person. I highly recommend Quintessential Classic Cottage as a vacation rental.

  Well the kids have grown up and went their separate ways and for the last several years we have made half hearted attempts at everyone getting together for vacation. This year we finally did it ! We have never been to this part of Michigan and didn't know what to expect weather wise. We looked into it and it looked like it was perfect for us.It was also decided that it would work perfectly coming from Dayton, Ohio, and St. Louis. Upon arrival at cottage we were immediately impressed with our home away from home for the coming week. The house is kept in very nice condition and is equipped with everything needed for the home away from home. The kitchen has everything you will ever need and the bed linens was clean and plenty of them. This house is well equipped with cable tv and xbox 360, dish washer, and washer and dryer. There is a very clean Weber gas grill and a cozy hammock on the deck. Owner has also supplied chairs, a wagon, and kids toys for the beach.The weather was perfect and a great time was had by all. About the only negative I can think of is that parking is a little tight for 3 vehicles, but it worked out with no problems.

  My family stayed here last year and we immediately signed up again for our third year in a row. Close to the beach, plenty of room for my adult children and my grandsons, nice layout. We enjoyed eating out on the porch, the hammock and the added outdoor cedar shower was a hit, too! Thanks for the personal touch and the way you helped make our vacation enjoyable. See you in a few months!

  My friends and I had a lovely time in the cottage. I loved the cozy but modern interior and while we didn't really watch tv, it was nice to have movies and sports for the one rainy afternoon. The beach is also a very short walk and there was a cart and large shade umbrella for guests to use. Breakfast and lunch on the deck is quiet and relaxing. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we had two couples with three kids and all were comfortable. One bedroom has it's own suite of rooms and is separate from the other two bedrooms so you can escape for quiet reading if others feel like whooping it up a bit. I would definitely rent it again!

  Our week at the Quintessential Cottage was just that...ideal. SInce we've come to this area for years, we've rented a few cotttages, depending on the size of our group. This cottage combines modern conveniences...the HDTV and Wi-Fi hookup...with traditional summer experiences like a comfortable hammock and a birdfeeder. The games, books and beach chairs are a nice touch and the kitchen has the basics you need. Beach is a short walk...very accessible. We are a multi-generational family and everyone had a good time. Although adjoining cottages are rather close, we rarely saw anyone and it felt quite private. The owner is very customer service oriented. Our grandson asked if this was our cottage and I told him it belonged to a friend. Sure felt that way.

  We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Union Pier cottage. There were six of us: two grandparents, daughter and her husband and a five and two year old. The cottage was beyond our expectations and went far beyond the description. We enjoyed the amenities: the beach wagon, beach toys and umbrella; the hammock on the deck, the gas grill and the outdoor shower. The little ones loved the frog spigots on the deck. The house was spacious and very well equipped with anything we could have needed. And we loved the location - a block from the beach and a ten minute walk to the grocery or the gelato store. There were enough activities in the area such as playgrounds, kayaking,and a small amusement park to keep everyone happy. We loved the beautiful, sandy beach and spent most afternoons there. The evening sunsets were incredible. The owner was most helpful in answering all of our questions and providing a crib for the youngest. We hope to return soon.

  The week we spent in this comfortable and inviting home is one that we will remember for a long time to come. The house is perfectly situated on a quiet street just steps from the beach and a short walk to a nearby grocery store. We spent long mornings relaxing on the shady porch and evenings grilling and eating outside. Having the extra bonus of cable TV and WiFi let us feel like we had all the creature comforts of home in this idyllic setting. We hope to be back very soon.

  We spent a week in this beautiful cottage at the end of June. We were 4 adults, three kids and a labrador retriever and we all had a wonderful time. The description of the cottage is accurate and it even included things that we didn't expect: toys for the kids, beach toys, a wagon to carry things to the beach, fishing gear, etc... The owner is very nice and helpful. The cottage is really closed to the beach and the beach is actually great. Lots of stuff to do nearby. We can only recommend staying at this cottage and enjoy a wonderful vacation.

  We just returned from a two-week vacation at this Union Pier Cottage, and we had a wonderful trip! The cottage was just the right size for our family (including our pet), and the layout was perfect. The master bedroom was towards the back of the house, but still on the same floor as the children’s bedrooms providing privacy. The house had everything we needed including a wagon, toys, and an umbrella for the beach, a Disney VHS library, games, HDTV, wireless internet, cable and more. The pristine beach is just a few blocks from the home and the area has berry picking, wineries, shopping, restaurants and many other activities. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a nice family getaway less than 2 hours from Chicago.
