Wilmington house description
This quaint historic home is located in the Carolina Heights neighborhood of downtown Wilmington. The 1921 brick colonial is only 15 blocks from the riverfront and has much to offer. The riverfront has a multitude of activities, shops and restaurants. The antique district is also only 10 blocks away, located around Castle and 5th. The city offers two larger shopping experiences with Independence Mall and Mayfaire Town Center, not to mention the hundreds of other boutiques all around the city. Wrightsville beach is approximately a 15 minute car ride from the dwelling with Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Ft. Fisher (home to the NC Aquarium) being 30 minutes away. The city offers many spots for children: Fit for Fun on 10th Street(ages 6 mo. to 5 yrs.), The Children's Museum located downtown on 2nd and Orange (ages 2 to 10ish), Monkey Joe's, Jungle Rapids, skating rinks, an ice skating house, the list goes on...
The house went under an extensive renovation in 2008 and 2009. Itis furnished with new and antique pieces. The residence, which was completely gutted and rebuilt from the brick shell inward, still exudes all the charm and grace of historic homes, but has all the modern conveniences necessary to make your stay memorable.
This dwelling offers 5 spacious bedrooms located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The second floor has a full master suite with double vanity, separate shower, claw foot tub and walk-in closet. The other two rooms on the 2nd floor sleep six people (a queen in one room and a queen and full in the other). These two bedrooms share a beautiful hall bath. The third floor has a queen bed in one room and two twins in the other. These two room share a hall bath as well. The living space downstairs contains a sitting area in the grand foyer, a formal dining room with large dining table, and a spacious and comfy living room with a large flat screen television. The first floor also houses the fully equipped, custom designed kitchen with dual fuel stove, French door refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, farmhouse sink as well as an eat-in nook. Off the rear of the kitchen, guest will find a separate walk-in pantry with second refrigerator, laundry room with sink, powder room and a lovely view of the fenced in back yard. The house also has a side porch that can be accessed through the French doors directly off the living room area. Furthermore, the residence is child friendly and a small group of toys have been provided on site.
The house has been carefully designed and embraces the elegance of a historic home with rich hardwood floors, vibrant historical colors, lots of exquisite lighting, large crown moldings, etc. This home should allow you to actually be home away from home. It is the perfect place to come relax, visit with friends and family, have a fun, filled adventure or all of the above. Please feel free to contact the owner with any questions or in regards to availability and costs should guests have extra needs (crib, pack-n-play, catering services, etc.) We await your arrival!

Simply Charming & Comfortable
Simply Charming & Comfortable
If you are visiting Wilmington, you must stay here. The owner, Marcia has lovingly decorated this beautiful home. It has new bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. The photos cannot compare to how warm and cozy it truly is. We were a group of 8 moms on a girls weekend. We slept comfortably in the spacious rooms and enjoyed dining together in the gorgeous formal dining room. The home is centarally located in downtown Wilimgton on a quiet, sheltered street. We enjoyed touring the riverfront which is 3 minutes away and Wrightsville beach which is only 15 minutes by car. Marcia was available for anything we needed and offered restaurant suggestions. This home is the perfect place to hang your hat after a fun day of shopping, dining and sightseeing. We are already planning our next visit.

Beautiful home and great location! We rented this home for the week of my daughter's wedding, which was held at the Brooklyn Arts Center, and it worked out great as a place to stay for extended family from out of town. The house is clean and well-kept, and has good available parking both on the street and behind the house. It is in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood that is close enough to walk (down Market Street) to downtown, but not so close that the commotion of downtown intrudes. One can take nice walks through the neighborhood as well as through the park-like cemetery that is a block away. Its location is also convenient to most of what Wilmington has to offer. I would note that it is not a "beach house", in that the furnishings are nicer than you would find in the typical beach rental. This might be a consideration if active young children are included in the group. (We had folks aged 10 to 82, and did not have any problems.) I would also note, however, that the owners appear to have done a good job in trying to accommodate families with young children, in that high chairs and cribs are provided. A couple of the bedrooms are also well-suited to children, as is the fenced-in backyard. In sum, this is a great property that seems to especially work well for a large family gathering. Highly recommended.

Amazing Place, Amazing Time!
Amazing Place, Amazing Time!
We recently rented this magnificent home with our adult girls and 2 other couples. We were all invited to a wedding in Wilmington and we weren't crazy about the idea of staying in a hotel. The minute we opened the door to this home, we knew we did the right thing. We were the envy of all of the other guests who were stuck in a hotel. There were 9 of us total, and there was a beautiful bedroom that we didn't even need! Every family had their own beautiful bathroom. The master bedroom was gorgeous, but the other rooms were all so beautiful that there were no hard feelings by the ones who didn't get the master. The kitchen and the adjoining living room were the heart of the house and where we had plenty of room for everyone to be together. You'll need to take some time just to walk from room to room to see how it's decorated. We even took this year's Christmas picture in the French-inspired blue dining room. Can't say enough about this house and the home owner. We want to come back!

This was a wonderful place to stay for our group of 11 who were in town for a family wedding. It was very well decorated and included a large variety of quality appliances, kitchen utensils, dishes, towels, etc. The owner has invested quite a bit of money into remodeling and decorating this home and the result was to issue a long list of rules. The contract was long and detailed. We were almost afraid to touch anything! We managed to get through our stay without breaking anything but I had twenty dollars deducted from my security deposit because someone in my group got makeup on a white hand towel and washcloth. (The rule was to use the brown ones and It seems someone didn't get the message.) I realize it was a rule and we were told beforehand, but the deduction seems a little much to me! Why not just provide all brown hand towels and washcloths to begin with? All in all, it was a most suitable house for our family and we had plenty of room. The owner responds quickly to questions and/or problems that may arise. We enjoyed our stay.

Owner response: We are appreciative when people select our home for their getaway/vacation. We also appreciate any feedback. We have put a lot of time, money and energy in creating a really great place for people to stay...a home away from home. We feel that the contract is rather standard as we used several other VRBO examples when creating it. It is detailed so there are no ambiguities for the tenant. We try to make everything very clear to make sure everyone visiting has a wonderful experience at the property. Although, the property is decorated with the normal accessories...furniture, tables, lamps, etc....there is nothing breakable that cannot be easily moved during a person's stay. The towels are provided as an amenity to our vacationers. We pride ourselves in offering high quality, crisp "hotel-like" towels in whites and creams to offer that luxurious feeling of a five star hotel or spa. We have gone one step further in offering brown wash clothes and hand towels for makeup removal so that we can continue to offer the same quality of linens to every customer that chooses to say with us. My cleaning staff goes above and beyond all efforts to remove stains from towels when able. Unfortunately, we cannot replace all permanently damaged items at our cost and continue to keep the rental rate as attractive as it is for a house that sleeps twelve people very comfortably. We have had many successful visits from many wonderful vacationers to our home and Wilmington and continue to look forward to providing that same excellent quality stay in the years to come!

My daughter's wedding
This home is unbelievably beautiful, roomy, comfortable, and convenient. The master bath has to be seen to be believed and was large enough for 2 hairdressers to get a bride and 4 bride's maids ready for the big day. The beds were comfy, the towels soft, the dining room large enough for 10 plus. We never felt crowded, the water was always hot and the shower water pressure was awesome. My 2 little granddaughters loved the "play closet" and back yard. We all would stay here again. This home made our trip for my daughter's wedding a joy!

We just stayed in this house this past summer, a group of 8, and loved it! The house is beautiful and the decorating touches just perfect. Marcia and her husband were great and available for anything we needed. The house was clean and fully furnished. I would highly recommend!

Attended my sons wedding in Wilmington. We had 12 people staying at the house. Plenty of room for all of us. It's nine miles (20 minutes) from the beach which initially I thought would be an issue but it's an easy drive either to Wrightsville or Carolina Beach. The house is close to historic Wilmington. Found a nice place to run each morning. USS North Carolina is close by. First the good stuff. The home easily accomadates about 10 people. Plenty of sitting areas. Fans in each room. Each floor has it own thermostat. Two fridges. A nice setup for laundry. Wood floors throughout. It's done quite nicely. The beaches of NC are a well kept secret. Had been there plenty of times (Raleigh) but never had been to Wilmington. We body surfed both in daylight and during a full moon. Folks from NC are super friendly. Challenges. The stairs are also wood. Had one member of my family with some physical challeges and opted to keep him in a hotel. As with any older home, the floors have some noise (I personally enjoyed it but not all in my group did). I doubt I'll need to go to another NC wedding but if I did I'd come back. It's a good find. You should feel comfortable in renting. Perfect for families or girls away time.

What a wonderful get-a way!!!
My girlfriends and I stayed at this lovely home for a ladies' weekend. The pictures do not do the house justice!!! It is so beautiful and so well decorated. We had a group of 10 and there was PLENTY of room for everyone to be extremely comfortable. The owner is so easy to work with and very professional. My girlfriend and I are trying to come up with an excuse to go back to Wilmington and rent the house for another weekend. Thanks Marcia for such a lovely experience!!!

Pre-Memorial Day Annual Wilmington Voyage
Pre-Memorial Day Annual Wilmington Voyage
The owners of this property were a joy with which to work! All transactions were done in a timely manner. The house has been wonderfully restored and possesses a unique character and charm. I help plan and coordinate an annual trip to Wilmington for a group of friends and this has been our best house and location yet. We were all cozy and felt at home. The proximity to downtown was great and helped add to the house's charm. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Overall, it was a truly delightful stay.
