Relax in a Beautiful Custom Low Country Deepwater Home
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
A beautiful 2,500 sq. ft. custom built home located toward the end of a point on close to a half-acre of land. The house is nestled among the live oaks, cedars, and pines, and elevated, showcasing westerly views across the marsh and providing spectacular sunsets. The property features a 350 ft. dock across leading to deepwater (3 ft. min. at low tide). The dock has a pier head, providing plenty of shade, and a boatlift. See the shrimp boats off in the distance. For the fisher folk, you can go fishing, crabbing, and shrimping off the dock.
The inside of the house is very spacious and features dark hardwoods throughout, as well as 10 ft.+ ceilings with cooling ceiling fans in all bedrooms and common areas. The layout is perfect for a family or couple wanting a lot of room and privacy, or two families vacationing together that desire their own spaces. Sleeps 6-8 (for a family including kids), but anything over 6 adults might be pushing it.
The main floor includes a vast, open floorplan with the living room, dining room, and kitchen, as well as a half bath and the master suite. Expansive windows look out over the marsh and deepwater from every vantage point. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and the den has a flatscreen sony tv. A covered porch with breezy ceiling fans offers a shady spot to relax. The master suite is huge, with plenty of room to lounge, relax, and take in the treetop views. The master bath features a double vanity and double shower to steam and relax after a day of outside play. The master closet would have made Imelda Marcos proud. It's large enough for a pack and play or air mattress (both of which we offer, for those traveling with little car space and little ones; also a toddler potty).
The upstairs includes the other two bedrooms, a full bath, a common area, and laundry room. Each bedroom offers panoramic views of the outdoors. One bedroom features a queen-sized bed and flat screen tv, the other has two double beds. The common area is a great space for children to relax and includes a tv, dvd player, custom bookshelves, whiteboard, and futon.
There is plenty of covered parking under the house and uncovered parking on the driveway.
The property is a half-mile walk from a secluded beach on St. Helena Sound. Take the opportunity to dig up a clam dinner, surf, fish for redfish, or just swim in the calm warm waters. There is a horse farm nearby which offers horseback rides on the beach. Or your can just hang out on the porch or outdoor patio and watch the horses walk by. VERY relaxing. Grill up your catch on our BBQ or do a full-on oyster roast in our oyster pit. The flat terrain of the area is well-suited for joggers and bicycle enthusiasts.
Beaufort (with its shopping, dining, boating and cultural scene) is only a short drive (15 min.) away. Hunting Island State Park is about a 10 minute drive from the property (we provide free passes) and offers plenty for wildlife/nature/beach lovers. There are many seafood restaurants for fans of fish, shrimp, and shellfish. Nearby farms offer fresh fruits and vegetables in season.

What a nice place to stay! There were just the two of us, but the peace and quiet of this home were just what we needed. We took Morgan's advice and visited Grayco hardware for license and bait. We caught 16 crabs in two tries (and let a bunch of them go.) Fishing was slow, as you predicted. We loved the Dockside restaurant and found Boondocks to be very friendly with great food and very close to the house. The guys at Gullah Grub made shrimp and okra for us as a special request (they were showing the recipe on their TV when we went in.) Thanks for your hospitality!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

What a great house for our annual girls weekend! We spent most of our time at the house out on the porch or on the dock enjoying the views and peacefulness and reminiscing about our youth (two of us have been friends for 30 years) and catching up on the past year's events. The house is very much as the pictures show with a great layout, SUPER master suite and huge shower. We also appreciated the Hunting Island pass as we made several trips to the beach & that saved $$! Several of the roadside vendors helped make our Lowcountry Boil a wonderfully delish meal for one of our nights! Then we headed in to Lady's Island to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at a local Mexican restaurant. What a fun weekend! The owner was wonderful to deal with - even with a minor AC problem, which was repaired in 3 hours! (Thanks MW! :-)) We would definitely recommend this home to another group of ladies or families. We are already planning on making next year's reunion weekend at this house!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have utlized VRBO before and true to form, we were not disappointed ! The photos more than accurately depict the home and the fabulous views. The only missing is the amazing sunsets from the porch ! The layout was great for my husand, myself and 3 female "20 somethings". Our yound ladies absolutely adored the home and location. The owner was very attentive, checking in to be sure everything was OK. We took full advantage of the pass to Hunting Island and enjoyed the beach at Coffin Point. The location is great with Beaufort, Savannah and Charleston within easy striking distance. We'll be back !Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This house was much more than we expected. The layout of the house is fantastic. Everyone had their own area to relax. Very Close to Hunting Island, Beaufort and not far from Hilton Head. Our family loves Low Country area. The owner was very friendly and helpful.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Best Vacation in Years!

We (two sisters, brother, spouses and two young adults) rented for four nights and had a marvelous experience. My brother and his family live in Hawaii and had come to SC for a visit. It had been five years since they were last here. We grew up in Hampton County and vacationed in the low country, so this was "a homecoming" for us. We found the house spacious and comfortable, and the views were outstanding. Highlights for us were crabbing (we had enough to make delicious crab cakes), breakfast on the porch, evening chats on the dock, walks and runs on the neighborhood dirt roads, and a trip to Hunting Island for a swim. (We really appreciated the Pass, as well as the crab lines and baskets.) We did the carriage tour in Beaufort and nearly roasted in the heat, but it was worth it. This is just the kind of place we wanted for a time to visit and look at beautiful marshland. We would choose it again without reservation. A few pieces of information that might be helpful to those considering renting this place . . . Lighting the gas stove was a little challenging, but we got it after a few tries. We used air mattresses for the boys instead of the futon. There is a thermostat in the upstairs hall. Can't believe we did not see it the first day. We were a little warm that night. Although the master bedroom is on the first level, there are steps leading up to the first level. Just be aware of this, if you have anyone physically challenged. All things considered . . . We Loved This Place! The owners were great--answered all questions and handled the transaction perfectly.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This is an amazing home. One you truly hate to leave at the end of your stay. The view is fantastic and the fishing great. Each room is outfitted for your every comfort. The owners are most informative with the area highlights that even make your stay more pleasant. We can hardly wait to visit again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely home...As mentioned in another review, the location is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The views are beautiful and the sunset view was unbelievably so every evening. The porch is comfortable and a great place to start each day with a cup of coffee, and we spent hours on the dock, chatting, fishing, and crabbing. My grandson and the other two teen boys that were with us brought video games, but spent less than an hour playing them all week long...they were too busy and found too many things outdoors to keep themselves busy, even when we weren't at the beach. The pass to Hunting Island is another plus to staying here, and Hunting Island is without doubt the most beautiful Atlantic beach I've ever visited. Additionally the owner is very concerned and interested in his guests' comfort and needs, and pleasant to deal both before and after your visit. I highly recommend this home to all who desire to have a peaceful and relaxing vacation at the beach. My husband and I hope to return again and again! Thank you so much for sharing with us!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Why the Owner Chose St. Helena Island:
We fell in love with the area (the marsh, the oaks, the beach, the ocean, etc.) and finally bought after visiting for about five years. We love the relaxed lifestyle as well as the opportunity to fill our stomach with all types of seafood. This is a great place for people who like the outdoors. If you like fishing, kayaking, biking, golfing, swimming, boating, clamming, crabbing, shrimping, walking, jogging, horseback riding, relaxing, outdoor eating, shopping (nearby) then you'll understand why we bought in this area. Plus, the home is absolutely gorgeous. You really don't have to leave the property to have a good and relaxing time.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You can go crabbing and fishing off the dock. Enjoy the bbq and oyster pit. The home is very spacious with great views. All of the furniture is brand-new. There is even an outdoor shower. Flat-screen TVs and wireless internet are there for you to enjoy in any down-time. We are about a ten-minute walk to a secluded beach. The are numerous farms nearby offering fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as many seafood restaurants offering the catch of the day (you can be sure that it will be fresh and you can always ask).
