Family reunion perfect

Guest: liza (Cambridge MA)
Date of Stay: 05/03/12 Review Submitted: 05/15/12

We were 10 people with many differences in lifestyles, eating habits, biorhythms, etc but the large home with many large sitting rooms and 4 bathrooms really made it easy. Kitchen and dining room very convenient and well supplied. Only disappointment was it was a little too far for us to walk to town.

Great House

Guest: New York Traveler (Clifton Park, NY)
Date of Stay: 02/03/12 Review Submitted: 02/08/12

We have rented houses on the Cape in the off season for several years and it was so pleasant to find one that met or exceeded our expectations and its advertisements. The house was immaculately clean when we arrived and had so much room for the kids to play in without getting too far away. The kitchen worked great for preparing some large meals and had most of the items we needed although we did bring some of our own larger pans to be safe. The town is within walking distance of less than a mile and the beach is even closer. We would definitely recommend the property to others and look forward to going back in the future.

Chatham House

Guest: Patty R. (Massachusetts)
Date of Stay: 01/20/12 Review Submitted: 01/30/12

Great house for hosting family reunions. Our group consisted of 9 adults and 5 children and everybody had comfortable arrangements. I was concerned our 2 year old twins would keep the others up at night but the large Study off the MasterSuite converted nicely to a private nursery. Plenty of spacious rooms with character. Great kitchen area/amenities. Nice yard for the kids to play outside too. An easy walk to downtown Chatham. LOCATION!. LOCATION! LOCATION! We can't wait to hold our Annual Family Reunion here again.

Winter Season in Chatham

Guest: Fun Traveler (Plymouth MA)
Date of Stay: 12/09/11 Review Submitted: 12/17/11

A group of friends rented this lovely house to celebrate a birthday and to enjoy Chatham during the Christmas season. The house accommodates a crowd wonderfully! We thoroughly enjoyed the upstairs family room and easily had a seat-down dinner for 12 in the dining room. It's also a great location - we were able to walk to town, Chatham Bars Inn and the Lighthouse.

Recent Family Visit, October, 2011. 4 adult couples.

Guest: Mimi (Souther California)
Date of Stay: 10/23/11 Review Submitted: 10/31/11

Absolutely beautiful and fantastic place for our family get together. Great kitchen facilities. Three places to eat downstairs including formal dining room. Cooked in almost every night but took advantage of fantastic places to visit nearby. Close to Martha's Vineyard, Hyannis Port and Newport, Rhode Island mansions not to mention the local villages with so much charm. Restaurants nearby excellent. Fish markets will cook live lobsters and crack them for you to take home. Two of the large bedrooms had adjoining separate rooms as large as the bedroom itself. Large sunroom where all of us could watch television together (when there was time). Could never have had this much fun staying in hotels!!! All of the Guichets

College Friends' Vacation

Guest: Bev (Saratoga Springs, NY)
Date of Stay: 09/17/11 Review Submitted: 09/25/11

For the past 10 yrs. my group of college friends have been renting homes in popular vacation areas. This was our first time on Cape Cod. This home was perfect for the 5 couples, it is a beautiful home located in a lovely neighborhood close to town. The property is very private with a large parking area. The sunroom was a popular room, but we also enjoyed the rooftop deck, the 3 dens and living room. We all had bikes so were able to take advantage of the rail bike trail. We were able to walk to the lighthouse and beach. We took a day trip to Martha's Vineyard out of Wood's hole, one of the couples went to Nantucket with their bikes for a day. There are golf courses within a half hour drive. We went to the National Seashore parks and spent a day in Hyannis. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to friends. We all agreed that Chatham is the best place to be on the Cape. The owner was very easy to work with.

Each year 9 ladies travel to different locations. This year we chose Cape Cod and decided to rent a home in Chatham as our base for exploring Cape Cod.We searched VRBO and were thrilled to find this home. Making arrangements with the owners was very easy. When we arrived at the home, we found it just as beautiful as the pictures on the website. The home is very large, centrally located and very well appointed. This home is an excellent choice for large groups.

The house that keeps on going

Guest: Jamie (Valley Cottage, New York)
Date of Stay: 08/13/11 Review Submitted: 09/01/11

This house made for an excellent week's vacation. The private street eliminates traffic worry and there was way more than enough room for two families. The house doesn't seem that big from the outside, however once you go in it seems to be an endless amount of space! Great location near lighthouse beach, close to oyster pond for a safe place for little ones to swim, as well as the main drag for shopping or a walk. Beautifully decorated as well. We've been to Chatham every year for the past 5 years and this was the best house yet.

Amazing house

Guest: Sharon (Worcester, MA)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/22/11

We rented this house for the week after my son's wedding. We had my family come in from Ohio and there was more than enough room for all of us. We had an amazing week and the house had everything we needed. The house was clean and had all the amenities. I fell in love with Chatham and the house is close to town and the beaches. Renting this property was very easy and the process from start to finish was professional and all the information we needed was provided from beaches to shopping to deep sea fishing and whale watching and restaurants. I would definitely rent this property again and would highly recommend renting this home. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

This property is a wonderful gem, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood yet close to everything. The home is the perfect spot for a family vacation - plenty of bedrooms, multiple gathering spots, and beautiful outdoor spaces. Every room is clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The owners take great pride in their home and obviously spend much time there themselves with their extended family - which helps make it the perfect setting for families of all ages! The owner is a delight to work with.

Mom's 80th Birthday

Guest: Bobby (Santa Ana, Ca)
Date of Stay: 06/11/11 Review Submitted: 06/23/11

The house was perfect for our family of 15 adults and teenagers who spent a week there. We were able to shift Mom's birthday party indoors because of rain an easily handle 40 people. The house was spotless and the grounds and neighborhood were pristine. Chatham is a special place and this property complimented this part of Cape Cod. The owner of this home, Paul helped us make this week a special time for our Mom's birthday. The house is close to town and Chatham in centrally located on the Cape. Provincetown, Boston, Nantucket and Newport, R.I. all easy day trips.

Owner response:Thanks Rob--Happy to have the house host such a specail occassion. Best to your Mom. Paul

Bachelorette Weekend

Guest: Celia (Summit NJ)
Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 06/06/11

We had a wonderful weekend at this big beautiful home which to my surprise looked better than in the website pictures. The house was perfectly clean The grounds are beautiful and well kept, the patios and roof terrace were a great gathering spot for the group. The kitchen had an extensive amount of cookware, glasses and serving dishes which came in very handy to be able to serve 13 guests. The bathrooms and kitchen are updated with a new modern chic look which makes them very appealing. The numerous number of seating areas in the house made it feel very inviting. Paul, the owner, was great and gracious answering all questions and offering guidance anytime that we needed it. For catering I found Celestino's Cafe which was a great place to call for dinner and brunch. This was a great home to stay and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation,

This is a wonderful home for a large gathering. It is in excellent condition and is well-maintained. There is plenty of room to spread out, to relax, and to enjoy time together. We stayed there for my dad's 80th birthday with a group of 11. It was absolutely terrific. The owner is a pleasure to deal with and he responded promptly to any questions that we had as well as being most accommodating to our requests. The location is excellent, as it is close to town and beaches. The beautiful grounds allowed us to enjoy time in the yard and patios in addition to the comfortable and spacious rooms. We highly recommend it !!!

What a lovely, well-appointed home. It is right in the middle of the cape, so getting around was quite easy. We got to both ends and Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard within our one week. There were five adult so each had our ouwn room. We argued about which gathering area we liked the best-- the sunroom, the master study, the second floor party room, the widow's walk on the roof, or the small study off the kitchen-- oops I forgot the living room!! I especially recommend Sandwich, Osterville, Providencetown, and Chatham itself.

Chatham-Walk to Town-Waterview Property #29193

Guest: Bob (Trumbull, CT)
Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/12/11

This was our first time renting through VRBO and we were renting a home to utilize for our Daughter's Destination Wedding on the Cape. The owner was absolutely fantastic to work with. He went above and beyond by providing suggestions for Wedding vendors that proved to be excellent. The home is beautiful and is much nicer than what can be described in a verbal descriptiion or even pictures. It is very spacious and can easliy handle the 17 it sleeps. The property is immaculate and very well maintained. Even though this was a destination wedding for us it was as if this was our own home. I would highly recommend this property. Our personal thanks to the Owner for a first rate rental experience.

Owner response:Thanks Bob, so glad everything went well and the weather cooperated. Paul

This house was everything I had hoped and more!

Guest: Jeff B. (Central NJ)
Date of Stay: 04/25/11 Review Submitted: 05/02/11

What a spectacular home and perfect location, the pictures do not do this house justice! I booked this property for my fathers 70th birthday gathering, I am from NJ and Chatham is a special place to my family. From the first time I spoke with the owner he was very polite and easy to deal with, he even went out of his way to accommodate a special request that I had. The house is perfectly located close to town and the beaches. If you walk or run for exercise you can easily walk to town for breakfast or lunch or to the lighthouse and there is a great 3 – 3.5 mile loop that mostly has water views. The yard was perfect for the young children and there is a large flat area for a party tent. The street is quiet loop where we would usually take a short walk after dinner. Just a few steps down the hill is a little path leading to the saltwater mill pond, I wish I had my kayaks! I did not have the opportunity to view this property before signing the lease and I was a little concerned that it would be too “formal” for our casual family and young children, I was wrong, the house if very comfortable and the second floor living room is where we gathered every night. I was here in April and the weather was still cool but the roof top deck is a perfect place to spend warmer evenings. The owner spared no detail with the construction or decorating, as my mother said, there wasn’t one floor board that creaked. The first floor master is beyond words and the attached study was perfect for my wife and I to have privacy to work when necessary. Chefs kitchen, tremendous artwork, significant lighting , tv’s in nearly every room, comfortable bed’s all contribute to this great property. There isn’t much that I would change… here is the short list, more / better dinning room chairs, a larger dinning room table, a second refrigerator on the first floor or in the garage, If you plan to eat in and have a large group, I recommend a couple of coolers to help store food.

Owner response:Hi Jeff, Thanks for your comprehensive review-it was a privilege to have my home serve as the venue for your Dad's 70th birthday-would love to have you all come back again. Thank you also for your suggested improvements--I have ordered a second refrigerator for the first floor and it will be delivered May 24; the dining room table in the upstairs Great Room has 2 leaves that will open it to 91 inches--I will look in to trading that with the one in the dining room which has a mximum length of 72 inches. There are now three coolers in the garage for tenant use. Regards, Paul

Date of Stay: 03/22/11 Review Submitted: 06/04/11

We rented this large Chatham house for our immediate family who were coming to our daughter's spring wedding at Chatham Bars Inn. We had a wonder sunny day for the wedding. It was perfect for what we needed and was a great place for the family to gather. The listing description and photos were accurate. The property was clean and well maintained and owner was very helpful. The property is close enough to Chatham to walk to town and has excellent views from the top floor. The property is on a large piece of property and feels private. We would definitely recommend visiting the Chatham Bars Inn.

We had a terrific experience with this property that is truly set up to feel like home. Everything has been organized to make things comfortable and easy. The kitchen has anything one would need, there are great lounging areas and fireplaces, the beds are great and all the extras one could want are there. The photos and descriptions are right on target, but they don't do justice to the warmth. The location is also great, with easy access to beaches, restaurants, and the shopping in Chatham.

A Truly Wonderful Experience

Guest: Linda (Dalton, GA)
Date of Stay: 10/13/10 Review Submitted: 10/24/10

Recently my friends and I vacationed for the first time on Cape Cod, and had a truly wonderful experience. Chatham is a beautiful and picturques New England town with good restaurants, natural beauty, and lovely shops. Paul was the perfect host for out visit. He not only provided us with a list of excellent restaurants, but gave us detailed information about each restaurant. In addition, he made recomendations about things to do and see in the area which was particularly helpful since we had never been to the Cape. He was always prompt with answering our emails, and equally prompt in refunding our security deposit which is greatly appreciated. He is a most gracious host. In terms of the house, it is more lovely than the pictures depict. The rooms are very nicely appointed, and spacious. It felt like home; very comfortable, clean, and inviting. It should also be noted that not only is the house lovely, but the grounds are very lovely as well. In addition, one can easily stroll to the water's edge or wander into town. Thanks, Paul, for your hospitality and sharing your beautiful home with us. Linda

What an absolutely spectacular house! And a wonderful setting for our 60th wedding anniversary with all the kids and grandkids. We were 11 in number and everyone slept well and played well--from cards and Boggle in front of the family room fire, or Bocci ball on the beautuflly landscaped lawns, or just sunning and hanging out on the rooftop deck, or the comfortably furnished patios. We thank you for sharing this beautiful place with us. Would like to return next year--same time. Best regards, Ruth & Billl Harwood and Family Bethesda, MD

Even better than we expected!

Guest: Stewarts (Salt Lake City, Utah)
Date of Stay: 09/18/10 Review Submitted: 09/29/10

We were impressed from the moment we arrived in Chatham. This little town is just the right size, and the home is well located within walking distance of the town and the water. The minute we walked in the door, we could tell that the home is very well cared for and more attractive than we had imagined. The pictures don't do the home justice. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out, and we felt completely at home. We had small children, and we didn't need to worry about anything they might bother. They also loved the large grassy yard surrounding the home. We met the owner and his wife; and they were very friendly and helpful. We did not eat out much, because we had several small children. We can't recommend any restaurants; but we did rent bikes from the Chatham Bike Rental on Depot Rd. They were so nice and helpful. Riding with our family on the nature trail near the bike rental shop was a real highlight for our family. We also enjoyed the beach near Chatham lighthouse. Chatham is a delightful place with many scenic rides and beautiful homes. This particular home is a real treasure, and we would highly recommend staying there!

BEST HOUSE RENTAL EXPERIENCE TO DATE!

Guest: Jennie (Maryland suburb)
Date of Stay: 09/04/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

My husband and I rented this home in early September 2010 with our 2 small children (ages 5 and 3), my brother, his wife and their small child (age 3). This was the best vacation house I have ever rented--out of the over half dozen in the last 3 years. The pictures are nice but do not do justice to all of the great rooms, their tasteful yet comfortable decor and the abundance of space. While we had planned to bring our German Shepherd, we decided against it since we were driving up from a Washington DC-Maryland suburb but it would have been a great house for a well-behaved yet large dog. I typically bring special cooking tools when we rent homes, since I love to experiment with special dishes on vacation. I should have left them at home. The kitchen was equipt with everything I needed. The floors throughout the house were beautiful hardwood. The upper roof deck has water views and is large enough for 15-20 people to be comfortably seated. At night, there was a great display of starlight from the deck. The yard is huge, a great space for kids to play. We had a relatives visit (Bostonians-turned-Cape Coders) and they could not stop raving about the home. Each bathroom has gorgeous granite, well-sized showers and wall murals that appear hand-painted. Beyond the house itself, we found that the location was just perfect for us. We could walk to downtown Chatham, jog to the lighthouse and Chathams Bars Inn, take a safe stroll around the neighborhood with our children on bicycles since the house is situated on a circular road separated from a main road, and very close to a nice grocery store, a playground for kids, bike paths that connect across the Cape, and a small beach inlet that was perfect for kids, with no rip tide. We found that the lighthouse beach was also very nice and spaccious and a great spot to collect seashells. There were seals swimming near shore which was great for spectating but kept us from venturing out to open water for a swim. Finally, the owner was extremely fast to repond to all of my questions on e-mail and made the rental experience 100% stress-free. He was very respecful of our privacy during our entire visit and clear about directions to the house, what to bring (e.g., bed linens), where to rent things that we might need (again, bed linens), how to use house equipment (e.g., wireless connection), and just a nice person to communicate with over e-mail. We would absolutely rent this home again!!!!!

Everything was very clean well taken care of and had no problems with any of the appliances or TVs etc. We had a great time staying in the house for the 7 nights and 6 days during and after the wedding. Paul was very cooperative with family members concerning things to do and was available if needed by phone. Having never stayed in house rental I was very impressed with this home and hope the next time I have such a postive experience. Would highly recommend staying in this home. We had a group of 8 adults and 3 kids and had plenty of room. The photos in his listing a very reallistic but the house is actually nicer than the photos.
