La Conner cabin description

Welcome to 'His' cabin! Frank designed this as his getaway, and it has an uncluttered and comfortable feel.
You can leave your worries at home and relax at this cozy year-round retreat on beautiful Skagit Bay. It's just ten minutes from picturesque La Conner, Washington, and is perfect for singles, couples, or small families.
Relax on the deck in comfy chairs as you watch eagles, hawks, and heron; enjoy the sunset and then try a little stargazing. Deer, rabbits, and quail are frequent visitors. You'll enjoy walks on the beach and may even see a sea otter family.
We can’t say enough about the view. The sunsets are spectacular, not to mention Whidbey Island, Hope Island, the tiny Tonkon Islands, and the majestic Olympic Mountain range. And, best of all, it’s only eighty miles from Seattle!
Our cabin is a perfect 'home base' for bicycling, birding, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. If you can tear yourself away from its comforts, you will find much to see and do. La Conner’s specialty shops, restaurants, day spas, artists’ studios, museums, art galleries, and even whale watching will surely tempt you!
The 360 degree views from Mount Erie are great. Anacortes ferries can take you to San Juan Islands and Sidney, British Columbia. Don’t miss Bellingham’s Fairhaven District and be sure to take scenic Chuckanut Drive.
Deception Pass is nature at its powerful best and Deception Pass State Park offers hiking, beachcombing and even mountain biking. Continue south on Whidbey Island and check out the villages of Coupville and Langley.
Our favorite, however, is simply getting lost on the country roads through the fertile farmland of the beautiful Skagit Valley.
This cabin has been our family haven and refuge for 20 years and we look forward to sharing it with you.

After a day of wine-drinking and shopping at unique crafts shops in LaConner, this set of cabiins was a wonderful retreat from city life. An eagle dipped into the ocean and pulled out a fish, ospreys circled around, wild blackberries were everywhere, and ending the day on the deck, overlooking the ocean sunset, with a plate of wine and cheese was the perfect ending to a perfect day. Everything was well-maintained, comfortable, and definitely not "cabins" - more like mini-cottages, fully furnished with wonderful antiques and comfortable furniture. There are great roads and trails to take a walk or jog. At low tide, Hope Island rises out of the sea. What a paradise! I'd recommend this to anybody.

I stayed four nights at Frank's cabin and found it a great place to relax and get away from life's responsibilities for a little while. It was perfectly quiet and the weather was unbelievable for October. I bought a wondeful fresh crab from a small seafood shop to the north, towards Anacortes and sat outside with a glass of wine and a lemon and some good bread and devoured it while the sun went down behind Tonkon Islands. Nothing could have been more perfect. During the days I paddled my kayak, went birding and made some progress on artwork. In the evening I was free to read for as long as I wanted in the comfy rocking chair. I've recommended this place to my friends and hope to return sometime. The listing is quite accurate and well describes the place. Glenna answered all of my questions promptly and was very helpful and friendly.

My husband and I came here for 3 nights/4 days in August to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we got there, we experienced the serenity of this cabin on it's perch above the cliff. We were in desperate need of some quiet retreating from our very busy lives as working parents, AND Frank & Glenna's cabin gave it! We walked down to the beach and explored, drove into LaConner for a visit, and we both agreed that we just wanted to get back to the quiet, peaceful, stillness at this cabin! We left feeling restored, and renewed and plan to come again!!!!

My friends and I went for the long weekend and found the perfect respite away from the city. Part camping, part lakeside vacation home type of feel. Steps away from the water for a perfect bonfire at night. The view is gorgeous to kick back a few glasses of wine while the kids play in the big backyard. Also, the area is great for some quiet hiking time.

My husband and I stayed 5 nights and had a wonderful time. Most of our time was spent on the deck or on the beach enjoying the view. Even though there are so many things to do in the area, we were content to stay at the cabin and relax. We bought our food at the new Haggen's Market and steamed some fresh clams from the Skagit Fish Market. Both have an excellent selection of local foods to try. Frank and Glenna are very gracious hosts and their cabin is a great place for a getaway!

Owner response: This IS a marvelous place to relax! Bring your favorite books, or see what is in our ever-changing collection. During the summer and fall months, there are also farm stands to check out. One is at the round-about at the Pioneer Monument on the way into La Conner. Not only will you find Hedlin's own organic berries and vegetables, but flowers, and local cheese and bread. Go North from the round-about (maybe a quarter of a mile) and look for Flats Road on your left. Then look for a little shed under an enormous tree and see what is new at Swanson Brothers Farm. Berries? Zucchini and summer squash? Beans, beets, potatoes? Apples, kale, pumpkins? It is all so fresh and a delight to bring to the table. I must not forget, that if you are coming to cabin from I-5 (Conway Exit #221) you will love stopping at Snow Goose (left side of the road after your first 90 degree turn. The ice cream cones are delicious - and enormous - and the cones are made right there. Lots of wonderful fruit and vegetables, bread, fresh fish, local specialities in paper bags and jars. Need a basket? Or vegetable starts? They are all there. Great fun!

Perfect Get Away Cabin with Wonderful view and sunsets
We took our 5 year old grand daughter with us for our weekend get away. She loved the beach and found many treasures. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful sunsets. There is so much to do in the area. LaConnor is a fun town to explore. Deception Pass has parks and public beaches. Anacortes had a fabulous Italian restaurant. Mt. Erie has incredible views of the San Juan Islands. We highly recommend this cabin for your romantic or family get away. The owners were very pleasant and accommodating. Enjoy!

Year Purchased: 1989
About the owner: Frank is a transplant to the Pacific Northwest; Glenna has lived here all of her life. We live right in the city and love it, but need the tranquility of the cabin for balance!
Why the Owner Chose La Conner:
When first purchased, we had no idea what an important place it would become but over the years our nine grandchildren have grown up watching the tides, playing on the beach, gathering rocks, shells, and driftwood and playing games in the yard. We love the way it seems to knit families together, as well as for the beauty of trees, water, and mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Simple, uncomplicated living best describes a stay at the cabin, and if you tire of that (as if you could) there is so much to see and do nearby: visit charming little towns of historic merit; be tempted by specialty shops featuring treasures from here and around the world; exercise your mind in art galleries and museums; or treat yourself to excellent restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner
