This quaint prairie style house with its 42 foot covered porch is located down a winding tree lined street 500 feet from the public beach on Lake Michigan. There are no bluffs right here. You can sit on the beach and see miles of sandy beach and bluffs as if you were in the Caribbean.
You can also walk for miles on the sandy beach and enjoy the different shades of turquoise and blue of the lapping waters. Some days you can enjoy the frothing of the rolling waves and great tubing. The house is set on one partially wooded acre. It is a quiet neighborhood of one acre lots with very little street traffic. Great for a peaceful retreat. It is a great relaxing time, starting with breakfast on the porch, to lazing in the hammock with a good book, and then watching the sunsets followed by a bonfire with somores. Lots of swimming during the day gives you a great rest at night with lots of stars visable.
Come sleep in the new organic queen size bed with all cotton sheets and down pillows for the best dreams. This house is all 'green, environmentally sustainable, and healthy'. It is a great feeling. As well, it is all on one level with wide door ways to acomodate the handicap.
While you are sitting at the dining room table or on the big porch you can view Lake Michigan and hear the waves. Air conditioning is not needed with the lovely off shore breeze. Lovely gardens adorn the house and veggies and flowers are free for picking.
This is an artist's home during the winter so the amenities are her personal style; serene and peaceful. A large library of books and board games are here to enjoy.
It is five miles to Arcadia, Bear Lake, or Onekama for supplies, restaurants, festivals, music.
It is 17 miles to Frankfort and Manistee with quaint shops and museums, lighthouses and piers.
Crystal Mountain Ski Resort and Interlochen Arts Academy are both close by for concerts, theater, fine dining. There are many small golf courses and of course the biggee - Arcadia Bluffs also with fine & causal dining.
A welcome basket filled with local wine and homemade bread awaits your arrival. Come and enjoy! No need to bring anything but food, clothes and beach towels. All the condiments are well stocked. There are eggs, butter, and cereal to start your first morning.
Keywords: This cottage is located in Pierport, Mich. with Bear Lake, Mi. post office. The house is a short 500ft walk to the public access. Turquoise water, waves occasionally, sand bottom. Miles of beach to walk.

Our walk down to Facefull water spring every am to get fresh water for our coffee was a highlight. It is very quiet at night...and the beautiful stars.... Millions of them! Master bedroom was a nice size, but the 2nd bedroom was tight quarters... Home is nicely decorated. beach is a short walk down the street... Would stay here again if we head for this area again... A great find for a small family or couple that want to get away from city life!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My wife and I had a relaxing and romantic vacation at this quiet cottage, situated just a few moments walk from an uncrowded, clean beach. The house is charming, bright and clean. The garden is filled with flowers and many birds visit. Tiny towns are about 10 minutes away, with restaurants, markets and other services. We were afraid it would be too far out in the middle of nowhere, but it feels like a quiet little peaceful neighborhood. Many easy walks and bike rides are nearby, and of course swimming in Lake Michigan is a blast! Excellent for couples, artistic types, and walkers...Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

My daughter and I had such an amazing time at Miss Carolyn's house. Our love to Pierport started to blossom from the very beginning when we were welcomed by the apple and cherry orchards along the street going into the neighborhood. The beautiful trees all around, the hills up and down along the Lake Michigan shore. It was so peaceful, and addicted to be there. The house is very artsy and green with a wonderful library and great selection of toys and books for me and my daughter. It's so warm and welcoming. Our beds were cozy and comforting. We loved the fact that we could see the beach from the dining room while we were enjoying our breakfast. We spent lots of time on the beach, we even had dinner on the beach while we were watching the sunset. It's just an amazing beach and no one else was around. It was truly a magical place! The spring fresh water all around was very incredible too. I loved walking/driving around the neighborhood and the beach. We had a chance to visit the cute Onekama library, and dining at one of our favorite restos in downtown Frankfort for just a 15 mins drive. I can't stop thinking about Pierport. Thank you so much for sharing your truly amazing house with us Miss Carolyn. You are truly an amazing mentor and a wonderful teacher. Can't wait to go back! ~Love, Evita and VanyaRecommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Carolyn's home is really amazing, it's in a nice quite place with a enough space for the kids to run around. Our little guy really enjoyed the space. It's a beautiful home with a very gracious host. The house comes with everything you may possibly need to enjoy your stay there including a very interesting library. The best part Mobile phones don't work in the house so if you want a little peace and quiet then you have it (there is a land line in case you need to call someone and internet works too so you can control your own communication ;-)). The Herb garden has a number of Herbs and Spices that were quite the joy to share. Finally you're just a little ways from a very uncrowded public beach that is perfect to just relax or if you want take a walk for miles and miles and miles.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

My husband and I have just returned from Carolyn's glorious cottage in Pierport, Michigan - a tiny but wonderful community on Lake Michigan. From the beauty and environmentally sound cottage, to the cozy and artful decor, to the exquisite water color paintings adorning the walls, to the bedroom windows which looked out to beautiful, rustling trees when you awoke, to the symphony of bird songs from the nearby woods, our stay was perfection! The hardest part was forcing ourselves to go into town to explore, but we did manage to enjoy the nearby towns, restaurants and shops. We were blessed to have a short stay this past week. We look forward to many more longer stays!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
