Our family really enjoyed staying here twice. The owners & managers & housekeepers are caring and fair. The information is honest and detailed, and the price very reasonable. I would recommend to friends and family anytime. We saw whale spouts in the distance over and over from the living room windows. The stars at night are bright, and the air clean and fresh. Gualala is not far, and has fun shops and good stores, and there are nice areas to walk to from the home. We want to come back every year, hope it's not booked when we need it!

The home is very weather beaten but when you get inside it is very comfortable and clean. The picture appears to make you think that those big beautiful windows give you great Ocean views but the home sits on a hill across HWY 1 and quite far from the ocean. Although there are views they are mostly blocked from the trees lining the hwy. At times at night when there were few cars on the hwy you could hear the ocean.

Owner response: It is sad that we worked so hard to make this property available for this guest. With 4 years of renting this home we have had hundreds of guests and every reveiw has been positive. I guess thatsome people just cannot be pleased.

We rented this home for the Thanksgiving weekend for our family (all adults). The home had everything, and it was all good quality...linens, towels, cooking appliances and pots and pans. Wifi (for the young adults) accessible to beaches and the town of Gualala. I don't see how we could have been more comfortable. Although we live in Sonoma County, and are used to the scenic beauty of this area, we were still impressed with the locale, and were lucky to enjoy perfect weather. We will consider this home for our future vacation plans.

The house was very nice, especially getting to sit in the living room and look out the large windows that had views of the ocean. It was also great to get to sit in the hot tub and see the ocean. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook all your meals. A couple of issues that we had, but that are easily fixable: 1) The chimney really needed to be cleaned. We built a fire and it got pretty smokey in house. 2) On the day we were leaving, the cleaning service showed up at noon and said they thought we were supposed to be checked out by 11AM, although our rental contract said 1PM. The people we were renting the house with said this same thing happened to them last time they rented the house. All in all a very nice stay at this house though.

Owner response: Cristina, We apologize for the intrusion from the housekeepers and your input was valuable for us to deal with this situaiton. As for the fireplace, it is cleaned on a regualr basis. Again, based on your input, we are making an addition to our check in instructions as you MUST open a door or window when starting any fireplace so the heat rises and draws fresh air from the outside. We look forward to having you as our guests again soon.

This is a great house, nicely furnished, comfortable. A nice quiet qetaway place, not a lot of nighttime activity locally, but that could be a good thing. Great dining at St Orres, more modest places in Pt. Arena or Gualala. Good base to explore this part of the coast.

This house was wonderful! The kitchen was very well equipped, the house was comfortable, clean and relaxing. The views from the front were gorgeous. A really great vacation rental - I highly recommend it! The county park ~1mile down the road was perfect - a nice sandy beach. However, the private cove was not really accessible (i.e. dangerous)....better to just head to the accessible beach down the road.

We just returned from a stay at this property. We thoroughly enjoyed it, although some idiot renter really trashed the carpets. Potential renters should know that the downside of this property is that there is no bathroom in the upstairs room and the bed is only a double. The third bedroom is outside and has no bathroom. Unless parents want young children with them in the downstairs master bedroom, which is lovely with a great king bed, the property would be inappropriate for small children. The private cove was very pretty, although a challenge to get down the ladders (and the rocks/seaweed are slippery). Although it is close to the highway, traffic noise was not a problem. The hot tub was clean and well maintained. All being said, we'd stay again and felt it was great value for the price.

The property was clean and well maintained. The open floor plan was really nice, and the kitchen was very well stocked. The view of the ocean through the living room windows is great. The furniture is comfortable. The house is appropriate for older (school age and up) children. The TV is an older model and rather small for the distance that it is from the sofa. Nice selection of CD's and DVD's, although a lot of the CD cases were empty. We really didn't care for the lighting in the living room. The switches are oddly placed for the lights they control and the only way to avoid really dark spots is to turn them all on. The property rental person that worked with me was great! Quick to answer questions and very helpful. She made sure that I got all of the info I needed when I needed it. The property is a nice distance from town; about a mile. The house is next to Hwy 1 so there was some traffic noise, but not enough to bother us. With the TV or music on we couldn't hear it, nor could we hear it from the bedroom. There's a nice beach just a short drive north. The private cove is beautiful, but not very practical. The last part of the descent is 2 ladders attached somehow to the hillside, and the bottom is rocks that look slippery. The stairway leading to the ladders seemed sturdy enough, but the way it tilts towards the cove floor was rather disconcerting. All that said, we sat on the stairs just above the ladders and took in the beauty and the sound of the ocean, and we got some great pictures! It was worth the descent :) The town of Gualala is charming, but has only a few interesting shops. We didn't really care as we would rather visit the beach and relax at the house. The grocery stores are well stocked and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the Bones Roadhouse and Trink's cafe! Don't visit Gualala without trying them at least once! There's a Thai restaurant in Anchor Bay, which is just a little way north. Great food but the service was lacking. We didn't care for the Upper Crust Pizza. The crust was really good, but the toppings were too sparse (only a few slices had even one piece of chicken), and the sauce was so light that we couldn't taste it at all. I only knew it was there by the color. There was info in the room about local sights and activities, but more would be good. We left a couple more menus from local restaurants. All in all, we had a great time! We'll definitely go back and would recommend it.

Excellent value for the price - well stocked, comfortable, clean and easy access. Hot tub and linens included made it easier for us to relax and not have to bring too much. Enjoyed special time with my family and grandchildren and we all liked the many windows. Beach access across the street is really just for active adults. The one down the road a mile is perfect for just about anyone.
