This recently renovated expansive and light filled home in the village of Velleron is close to Provence's many seductive attractions. The family oriented house has 6 bedrooms (3 of them suites) and 4.5 bathrooms on 3 floors. The decor is warm and charming and very comfortable.
Highlights include a pool with a surrounding summer garden, outdoor seating and eating areas, a large kitchen with dishwasher and a working fireplace
The house dates from the 1600's. The thick stone walls in the back courtyard are over 20 foot high and are the 500 year old ramparts of the old city.
The quaint village has its own patisseries and epicerie and daily farmer's market for easy walking access to daily provisions.

We stayed in this beautiful house with 2 families with teenagers, 11 people total. It accommodated every body with plenty of privacy. The pool area is the highlight in the hot summer, a nice clean pool, comfy chairs for reading and a huge table under a wisteria covered arbor. Many towns in Provence are packed with tourists in August, but Velleron is just a quiet village and is very peaceful. Yet it has 2 amazing bakeries just a 2 minute walk away from the house and a little grocery store (1 minute walk) that stocks everything you need for the week- wine, cheese, dairy products, butcher (they even make their own merguez!). The best part of the town is the farmer's market, every evening except Sunday. Amazing local produce, wines, cheeses, olive oils. I had expected to eat dinner out every night in wonderful French restaurants, but everyone loved the fresh foods so much, and the table by the pool is SO pleasant to sit around for hours into late in the night, that no one ever wanted to eat any where else!! The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking utensils, beautiful serving bowls- a pleasure to cook in. In short, I highly recommend this property, especially for large groups looking for a peaceful quiet place, conveniently located for daily shopping, and centrally located for touring in Provence.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers.

My family and I spent a week at this property in Velleron, and it was one of the very best trips we have ever taken. The house itself is loaded with both character and convenience. Thick castle walls and beautiful tapestries surround you, but you also get a beautiful pool (huge hit with the kids), a chef's kitchen, and big roomy bedrooms. It was hard, franklyto get my crew to leave the house, but when we did, the location is pretty ideal. The town of Velleron is tiny and friendly. We picked up amazing croissants every morning at a local artisanal bakery, and walked every night torso ably the most notable feature of Velleron - the farmer's market. Famous throughout the area, the Velleron farmer's market was an amazing bustling celebration of fresh food. The best of Provence, picked that day, and brought straight to you. It will sound strange, but I had a plum there, handed to me by a farmer, that was one of the most delicious things I have ever had. I can still taste it now, back in New York. The folks in town are super-friendly, my children took to playing boules every night with the local Velleron kids. And Velleron is right in the middle of the Vaucluse. We had short day trips (20 minute drives) to Fontaine de Vaucluse, Avignon, Roussillon, Gordes, and went a bit further to Aix-En-Provence. If you want to experience the best of Provence, this is a really terrific place to start.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

We spent a glorious week in this remarkable house. It combines old world charm and elegance with modern conveniences, including the lovely pool in the walled courtyard where there is ample lounging and dining space. In fact, we spent most of our "home" time in the courtyard, though the indoor living areas are equally as comfortable and inviting. This is a home, not an inn. We loved it so much that we never ate dinner out; instead we cooked at home every night after buying fresh, exellent meats, vegetables and fruits at the wonderful daily outdoor market in town. Velleron itself is quite charming, and its location offers easy and quick access to Provence's many highlights. Of course being in Provence is its own reward, but in our view this house is a singular treasure and we would return to the area just to experience it again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

This home was a dream come true for a mult-family vacation. Updated with all the modern conveniences, the spacious and beautiful kitchen made meal preparation a joy, using all the local produce from the daily farmer's market. Every morning a quick walk to the local patisserie yeilded treats before heading out for a day long adventure in numerous nearby villages and towns including Avignon, Aix en Provence, Gordes, Rousillon, Les Baux, Arles, Les Alpilles. And then a relaxing poolside evening enjoying local wine! Beyond all expectation it was a wonderful stay in Velleron.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This absolutely gorgeous home (well yes, Chateau) went well beyond our dreams. We came Provence to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with two pre-teens, a set of grandparents and a family friend. The house was immaculate with a nearby caretaker who was wonderful contact prior to our arrival with lots of suggestions for places to visit. She was also on call during our visit for anything we needed. The photos do not do the house justice as it is so incredibly spacious with lots of privacy as well as public gathering areas (the outdoor dining area is devine!). Two seperate floors of bedrooms and suites made it easy to seperate children from adults. The owners are incredibly helpful and available as well. The town of Velleron is situated perfectly with an easy drive to charming nearby towns of Aix en Provence, La Baux, Avignon, Chateaunneuf du Pape, Rousillon, St. Remy, Bonnieux and so much more. We spent a week and still had places we did not get to. Every night there is a farmer's market in walking distance. Getting there was easy from Paris on the high speed train (less than 3 hours). Don't forget the GPS, though! While everything is clearly marked, the roundabouts and dirt roads can get confusing. We can't wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
