The cabin was wonderful and the setting even better. My wife and I enjoyed everything, from the very clean cabin to the wandering Alpachas to the fishing. We've been in the area before and were not sightseeing but there is much to see and learn about near this house. Possibly a "tour" of the property upon arriving would be helpful as we didn't know that the river above the bridge was available for our walking and fishing (or a simple map). But once we knew about the upper portion we caught fish and that topped off a great stay.

Clean, Quiet and Comfy! Wapiti Cabin more than exceeded our expectations! It was close enough to town to be convenient, yet far enough out to be secluded and private. The owners were extremely helpful with information on attractions and activities in the area. Looking forward to a return trip!

Had a great weekend, wonderful cabin with everything you need. Owners are very nice and respect your privacy completely. The alpacas are awesome, they grazed in front of the cabin every morning! Very cool, very clean, very quiet. Make sure to drive up to Sumpter to see the gold dredge and steam train while you're here. I hope to be back soon!

We really enjoyed the Wapiti Cabin on the Powder River. The property is full of deer, quail, and some great views. The fly fishing action for small trout on the property is lots of fun. The scenic Elkhorn mountains are very close by. The huge lake just above the house is a great place for ski boats and the like ... we survived it just fine in our drift boat. We stopped for lunch in charming Baker City on the way up to the cabin, making the most out of our short stay. The cabin itself is very clean and homey. There's nice cooking, eating, & lounging areas and comfortable beds. The owners live on the property, and raise alpacas. They are very respectful of their renter's privacy and very nice about sharing their wonderful river property. We'd love to stay here again sometime.

Coming back from a weekend at the cabin I find myself still recalling how amazing it was. The cabin is clean and spacious, and the view from the deck over morning coffee is amazing. The property is gorgeous; located in a valley with alpine views and the powder river running through the grounds. It was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Baker City area.

Our family stayed here for a 3 day weekend and were totally amazed and impressed with the accommodations. The place was exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished with "log cabin" furniture. I personally wanted to just live there! We had all the comforts of home. The Alpacas were very entertaining and fun to watch. You don't even know that you are just off the highway, it is so quiet. We will definitely stay again if we have a need when we are in the area. Thank you for an enjoyable weekend.

We stayed at the Wapiti Cabin this last week and really, really enjoyed the peaceful setting. We loved to watch the wildlife and listen to the Power River in front of the cabin. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone that wanted to get way from city life and experience the outdoors. Conni & Bruce

We live within two hours of the Oregon coast so were looking for a nice, secluded mountain retreat. After reading your property's description and viewing the photos, we thought this just might be the mountain retreat we were looking for. After our stay, it was confirmed! My spouse is in a wheelchair so not every place is easy to get around in. The open floor plan and easy access worked great and the house and grounds were spotless. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The peace and quiet made us not want to go anywhere else, but it is a short drive to either Baker City for any essentials, Sumpter, a quaint little mining town or fishing in either the river or lake, if you find any extra time on your hands.

Owner response: Yes, it is true, the cabin is so peaceful it is sometimes hard to make yourself drive into town! We sat on the front porch the 4th of July and talked about going into town for fireworks, but the tranquility won out & we spent the evening enjoying the sounds of the river and birds.
