  I have been vacationing in this area for 50 years. This is by FAR, the VERY NICEST vacation home I've ever been fortunate enough to stay in. What's not to like? EVERYTHING about A Rockaway Hideaway is spectacular. My family of 9 liked it so much in October 2011 that we almost immediately booked it for 2012 and we were so glad we did. It is the perfect home for relaxing in the Blue Ridge, having PLENTY of space inside and OUT, and so close to SO MUCH! Not only is it perfectly situated in Western NC, but it is remote enough to make you feel like you're really out of town, way up in the mountains and far away from civilization, yet SO handy to pop in to town to pick up groceries or get a meal out. EVERYTHING that we want is within a short drive. It's important to note that this beautiful cabin is VERY accessible from the main highway running through the small town of Maggie Valley. The paved road makes it so easy to navigate unlike many of the homes I've rented over the years. It's an EASY drive up from the main road, not too steep and very easy to find! The home is VERY spacious & roomy. It is beautifully decorated and furnished yet very family friendly and unpretentious. The deck and screen porch and back yard make it ideal for outdoor living with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. I can't say enough good about A Rocky Hideaway--truly a wonderful experience and worth every penny. I can't wait to go back, in fact I think I'd be happy to spring for it for just me and the missus. I love this place--we ALL do in my family! It's BIG, yet very cozy, so even for just two people it would be a great place to stay without feeling it was too large. One last thing. The owner's are as good as gold--truly nice folks and so attentive. They are really wonderful hosts from afar. I've never met them in person, but we've had wonderful communication via letter and email. They are so concerned about my experience and make it perfectly clear that I am their top priority. They are very eager to get my feedback and genuinely care about what I think with regard to their most beautiful property. I couldn't ask for a better landlord and a better overall experience. Well, I've said too much. I better be careful--I don't want EVERYONE clamoring to rent this beauty. I want to be sure it's available when I want it! I guess I shouldn't be selfish though. OK, fair warning: reserve it NOW--before I do!

  We have been coming to Gatlinburg in the Fall for about 10 years now. This year we decided to "branch out" and come to Maggie Valley! This home is BETTER than the photos if you can believe it. It is very clean and has a fabulous, well-stocked kitchen. We loved the home more than any other home we have ever rented. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. I might add, our daughter got married the month before so we truly just wanted a low-key relaxing week and this could not have fit the bill more perfectly. (I even sat and worked on a quilt for several hours!)

  My family and friends loved this cabin! Everything stated in the description of the rental was true. It met all our expectations and more. It was spacious, clean and came with all supplies. The only items we had to supply were paper products and body soap. Everything else was there. We had one minor problem because we did alot of our own cooking. We didn't have an electric can opener and the hand can opener didn't work very well. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was highend. The whole cabin had a uniform and cozy look. The seating outside was just as comfortable with beautiful outdoor furniture. It had a beautiful laundry room and gorgeous bathrooms. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. The owners thought of everything. The only drawback was having to dispose of our own garbage which we did. I would highly recommend this rental property and thank the owners so much for sharing it with us. I would enjoy renting it again in the future! My family and friends did not want to leave.

  We just returned from our stay at Rockaway Hideaway and absolutely loved it! The cabin is such a relaxing retreat. Clean, new and very well appointed. We enjoyed the convenient location to tour around the neighboring communities including Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Brevard, Hendersonville, Cherokee and even up & over the Smokey Mountain Parkway to Pigeon Forge area. And, much to our surprise, we woke up Thursday morning to 3" of snow! It was the most beautiful site! I wore my camera out trying to catch all the beauty. Thank you Jane and Dennis for sharing your cabin with us!

  From a deck at 4000 feet, you can see forever! We spent a long weekend at this wonderful home, tucked among the mountain peaks. The accomodations were as well-designed and thoughtful as any we've encountered. The kitchen would meet the demands of any gourmet cook, and the furnishings were chosen with care. We couldn't ask for more in creature comforts! We spent many hours hiking the multitude of trails both nearby and in parks just a short distance away. The local towns had some wonderful restaurants and shops to explore. And in our few lazy moments, just sitting on the large screened porch or at the outdoor table was a joy. We recommend this outstanding home highly - and plan to return for more adventures!

  rockaway hideaway was actually more beautiful than it's pictures. waking up each morning to the cool mountain breezes and the sound of the stream was perfection. sipping coffee on the porch overlooking the smokey mountains and with all the amenities of a high end private home was magical. the choice was ours each day to hike with the dogs on endless trails exploring nature, to go sightseeing or to shop and enjoy good restaurants in the village. we loved the catalooche ranch and hope to spend a day horseback riding on our next visit. this is the kind of vacation you return to each year with family, friends and the pups.

  What an escape! I could have just stayed. Everything was perfect in this new property, and owners paid attention to every detail, inside and out. Impeccable taste in decor. The week was filled with activities, everything from breakfast "up" the hill at Cataloochee Ranch, to ice cream every evening "down" in Maggie's Valley. Elk watching, Gatlinburg, the train ride in Bryson City, shopping in Waynesville, the Biltmore in Asheville. Back to the cabin....it's more like a lodge. Huge, clean, comfortable rooms with everything you could ask for and more. Instructions, guides, pamphlets, emergency contacts...I can't imagine anything the property owners didn't think of. To top it off, the weather was perfect every day. Clear weather so the views from the cabin were incredible. Your dog will love it as well! I am ready for another stay.

  I would say that this property was just as stated and I was so glad to have nice, high thread count linens instead of itchy cheap sheets! Just like home, great place to stay with dogs and kids, totally durable! We hardly had to bring anything (with the exception of paper products) with us because they pretty much everything you needed in the kitchen and linens and so on. Nice find, we will be back.....

  What a great find. My wife & I and our 2 labs loved our stay. The amenities were fantastic. My wife is an amatuer photographer and could have stayed for a month. I enjoyed the quiet and Joey's pancake house. The dogs loved it all. I'm also happy I don't have to look for a place in Maggie Valley anymore. I found it.
