About the owner: My husband and I own this house with another couple. All four of us had long careers in education or criminal justice, and two of us are lawyers. We are also parents of both young and grown children, and dog owners.
Why the Owner Chose Becket: Living in Boston, I missed the country I grew up in, and wanted to be able to recapture the country girl by having a foothold in the Berkshires. For my husband, it was the cultural attractions of the area. And for our kids, it was the lake and the wildlife!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: We saw this house in the spring of 2009 and saw its great potential. At the time, the house was a one bedroom 600 square foot cottage, but it was on a beautiful, quiet piece of property with a lake and stream on two acres. We knew it could be paradise, and so we renovated it to add a second floor and take full advantage of the beauty of the land.
