We had a wonderful time in San Fransisco, and this was my first time there. The apartment was close to all the transportation the city has to offer, with the cable car and 27 bus stop right outside on the corner. I found the bed to be very comfortable, and just the right height for the TV. The pull-out sofa came in handy for my son, who visited during my stay. The caretaker who lives nearby made us feel especially welcome. The restaurants were very close, and we learned the map by the time we left (so when we come back we know where everything is!) Thanks to Leila and Don for sharing your lovely, historic apartment.

The apartment was in a great location! It was clean and spacious. The owners were extremely helpful with questions and providing information about things to do in the city. The apartment is right on the cable car line so getting around the city was really easy. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone!

We stayed the first few days in October, at this location, first off great location, we had cab the first day to get our orientation of the city, by the next day we were walking and taking public transit everywhere. Do to the location it is a bit noisy, but nothing that earplugs or a white noise couldn't fix. It was a pleasure dealing with the owners, who contacted us to make sure we arrived and got into the building and settled ok. We loved the location, the city and dealing with the owners, it was an A+ experience and we will definately be back again soon, but hopefully staying longer than just the two days.

This flat was in a great location in Nob Hill district, not far from the Intercontinental and Fairmont Hotels, and close to Union Square and the BART station. The owners were easy to work with and communicated freq. via email. It's a great value, considering its location in the city. We arrived at SFO airport and hopped on the BART train ($8.10 one way) to Powell St. Just outside the station is a MUNI ticket kiosk. Unless you absolutely need a car, I suggest grabbing a multi-day MUNI pass (7 day-$27) which gives you access to the bus, trolley and cable car systems. These will take you anywhere in the city. Next to the kiosk is the Powell-Mason St. Cable Car turnaround stop. Hop on and head uphill to California St. (you will pass by Union Square on the way). Connect there with the California St. Cable Car west to Leavenworth St. The flat was clean and comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked and the closet in the entryway has extra towels, etc. The bed is low but comfortable, and we had no trouble watching the television in bed. The TV remote is a little tricky, but just follow the instructions left by the owners. If you are a light sleeper, you may have some issues with the street noise (cable cars, fire trucks, etc.), but hey, it's a big city with big city sounds. We slept thru it all. There is a convenient grocery store (CALA) one block down the hill and a wonderful Whole Foods Market six blocks down the hill, just past Van Ness Ave. (cable car will get you real close). Before buying condiments or personal care products, check the kitchen and the bathroom cabinets. Past travelers have left many items. Things to do and see, restaurant recommendations, etc. are in a bound book near the entrance. Use it. We dined at Nob Hill Cafe, The Beach House Chalet overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Golden Gate Park, Scoma's at Fishermans Wharf, Great Eastern Rest. in Chinatown, Mario's Bohemian Cigar Store Cafe in North Beach (on Washington Square of "Dirty Harry" movie fame) and New Village Cafe on Polk St. (Dirt cheap and good breakfasts, a few blocks down the hill and to the left). We recommend all of these restaurants. We visited Golden Gate Pk, Haight/Ashbury, Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown, Union Square, and best of all, we biked acoss the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. What a thrill. We would definately stay again at this flat and would recommend it to others. We had no problems and had a great time.

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights and honestly, we could have have asked for anything better. The price was so great that we were a little skeptical when opening the front door, but to our delight it was perfect and the pictures are a true representation of what the apartment is like inside. The apartment is fully equiped and you will feel like you are right at home - everything is there; they have not missed a thing. I forgot my hair dryer but to my surprise there was one there and I did not need to go out and purchase one. It was a quick walk to everything (but wear comfy shoes since there are plenty of hills) but having the cable car just outside the front door was terrific. You can make it to Grace Cathedral in a few blocks uphill but just keep walking downhill and you will hit Chinatown - it's all right there!!!! We purchased the CityPass which includes unlimited use of the Muni (including Cable Cars) and the cost is only $69 per person and is good for a week - great when each ride is now $6. The grocery store was literally a block away, all the information within the apartment was very convenient (we actually left our books and maps for the next person) and Leila was so easy and a pleasure to work with. My husband and I love this city and hope to make a move there in the future for his company, but for now we will visit on a regular basis and this apartment will be the first place we look to for a place to stay.

My husband and I recently stayed at this property. We selected it because of its close location to Grace Cathedral, as I was taking a class there. The location was perfect, and the condo layout was great in that the space was open and it seemed larger because of that. The furnishings were well suited for the space. We loved watching the cable car through the large window. Both the owner and building manager were a delight and very helpful. The condo had a book of recommendations for nice restaurants and other conveniences. Yes, "We left our hearts in S.F." so, we will most likely return when our schedule permits, and we will check the availability here, first.

Lovely little get away space. The owners are wonderful to work with, make every effort to ensure your stay is a great experience. Centrally located, walkable distance to many of the sights. Felt safe and secure in this building. Very clean. Like home. The price was a steal, felt as though I got a good deal. Way better then staying in a hotel.

My wife and I spent 9 nights in the apartment. The location is wonderful--we walked almost everywhere we went, although public transportation is readily available near the apartment. We found plenty of good restaurants nearby--Zarzuela, a Spanish restaurant with tapas was our favorite, with Sushi Rock in second place--and the Cala grocery store is very convenient. The notebook of information was helpful, as were the guide books and maps. Our daughter and granddaughter stayed with us part of the time, and the sleeper sofa was fine for them. The apartment is well maintained, and Leila and Don are quite easy to deal with in making the arrangements. We would love to stay in the apartment again the next time we are in San Francisco.

I had a perfect stay. Location was excellent, able to walk quickly to my conference and to local shops and restaurants and prepare meals at the flat when I didn't want to go out. Convenient parking lot around the corner (pricey, but it is San Francisco). Reservation process went smoothly, instructions were clear and timely. Internet worked great. I did not use the phone so don't know how it worked. The bed was comfortable. (One of the previous reviews complained about the TV. I think the problem is that it's a flat screen TV and watching from the bed is not ideal because the bed is too low to really see the screen properly. Did NOT bother me at all). I was on a business trip but if I wanted to vacation in Nob Hill, I'd stay there again. Will definitely stay again for conferences in that area. Thanks, Leila :)

My boyfriend and I found this property to be the perfect choice for our stay in San Francisco. The apartment is centrally located with lots of amenities close by and the owners have gone out their way to ensure the property is fully equipped with anything you could ever need. The description of the rental is spot-on, with lots of sun flooding the rooms and elegant, tasteful decor. We also found the owners extremely friendly and easy to communicate with. We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a base to explore San Francisco from...much better than a hotel!!

We recently had the most enjoyable stay in this very cosy sunny flat. it was so central to all the sights that we had on our list. The little extras such as spices in the kitchen made cooking a pleasure. We will say here again when back in San Francisco.

My husband and I had a great time. This place was perfect for what we set out to do...we finally got a chance to get away by ourselves without our children. It is cozy and comfortable. We felt safe and in a great location. The owner, Leila suggested we get a City Pass and that is just what we did. We got around the city by bus, cable car, the Bart and our feet! It was nice to be able to use all public transportation and go wherever we wanted to. One early evening after a day of art galleries and museums,we were walking in the neighborhood, visited Grace Cathedral, checked out the park across the street and stepped over to The Nob Hill Cafe. Such a wonderful thing to be able to walk back to our place in the evening after a delicious meal. I loved that! We both appreciated the opportunity of having our own favorite Kashi Go Lean cereal with fresh blueberries and strawberries to start each morning off right before heading out. We loved having the Whole Foods grocery store just a short bus ride away. I really could go on and on about the great experiences my husband and I had. I guess I am excited about what a fabulous time we had and that we rediscovered how perfect we are for eachother. One of my favorite memories is listening to "the oldies" on the clock radio by the bed and looking out the window at night sipping on hot tea. I am a simple girl. It was a simple place....just right for me. San Francisco is amazing. I've always loved it. Now, even more! Thank you Don and Leila for allowing us to stay at your place. The rate was great along with everything else. We would love to stay again. Next time I am sure we will take our kids, so we will have to get a bigger place. :-( We definitely recommend your VRBO! Thanks again, Rachael and Kevin

My family of 4 stayed in this light-filled apartment right before the holidays and loved it! The apartment is charming, clean and comfortably decorated and you can't beat the Nob Hill location. We parked the car and walked everywhere - Union Square, Grace Cathedral, Market Street, Chinatown. When we tired of walking, a cab from Union Square to the apartment only cost $5. My teenage children also loved the cool shops and cafes of Castro Street just a few blocks away. There's a market one block away and plenty of restaurants close by 'though the apartment's kitchen is well stocked and easy to cook in. I'll definitely recommend this to friends.

What a find! I love staying right in the middle of the action in SF and wandering its great old neighborhoods. Staying in this delightful flat, I could walk to (or cable car to) my favorite SF locations. The apartment was exactly as advertised and lived up to the other + reviews. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. I enjoyed the thoughtful selection of SF books too. The owner was very responsive. I'd never rented a flat this way before---she made the whole process pleasant and easy. I hope to stay here again and have already recommended it to friends. One does need to anticipate some street noise, but those smushy ear plugs did the trick.

Our stay in San Francisco was extremely pleasant, with the exception of our room. We made sure we stayed away as long as possible. The rooms were clean; but two things I believe should be noted were the condition of the bed and outdated furnishings. The bed was not a bed persay, it was a board on drawers with a very worn 3" mattress; no box spring or real mattress. You were virtually 8" off the floor. The pillow on my side of the bed was two throw pillows stuffed into a pillow case, not even a real pillow. The blanket was a dingy yellow, not white. I made sure I kept it on top of the sheet. They only tv was in the bedroom hooked up to the dvd player and cable, therefore, could not be moved. The only sofa was in the other room. Therefore, you had to watch tv from the bed or by dragging in some mismatched chairs. The love seat was of no use. Perhaps they should move the tv into the room with the sofa or add a tv. The condo location was great. It is on th highest point of San Francisco, therefore, lots of hills if you decide to walk. The trolley is right outside the door and takes you anywhere you want to go in a very short time. We loved it. It was our savoir as we did not want to stay in the condo. The condo itself could be adorable. It is clean, painted bright, and in a great location, but please update the furnishings. It was not functional, and the beddding was far below standards. We would not plan on staying here again, unless the bed and bed clothes were replaced. We still managed to have a very pleasant trip and located San Francisco. Be sure to eat the Nob Hill Cafe.

Owner response: We just purchased the apartment at the beginning of this year, and the bed and mattress are all completely new, so we are taken aback as to how the guest got the idea that the bed was worn in any way. We bought it precisely because of the drawers to give more storage space in an historic building that does not have much built-in closet space. The mattress was constructed especially for the bed, and none of our guests has found the bed uncomfortable, nor have we during our stay there. The blanket about whose color the guest complains is new as well. The guest was right about the pillow situation, which has been corrected, and would have been fixed immediately if the guest had called or e-mailed us. The TV will stay where it is, and we will not move a sofa into the bedroom.

My family and I stayed at this unit for 10 days and we had a good time here. The location is great! It's close to many restaurants and shops in nob hill and downtown SF. It's a cute, neat condo and gets lots of sunlight in both the bedroom and living room. Our only problem was that there was some street noise coming from the cable car at night. I guess it's good and bad that the unit is so close to the cable car line...

The flat will in a great neighborhood, with a cable car stop rigth in front of it. Also, there are restaurants and a supermarket very close - within minutes walk. The photos reflect exactly the apartment, that is full of light, clean and well-maintained. Several clues were given by Leila, the lovely owner, from places to go in and around the city, to public transportation guidance.. Definitively would come back and recommend to friends.

We loved the apartment, which was sunny, beautifully and comfortably decorated, and---very important to us--has a superb location. We were able to walk downtown to our favorite restaurant (Le Central on Bush Street), to Union Square, to the Marina, and Fisherman's Wharf in just minutes. We took a cable car for the fun of it, but really could walk anywhere. The kitchen was well supplied for cooking, the bed was comfortable and the ambience was charming. We loved it!

This adorable apartment was sunny, spotless, and located in a great, safe neighborhood. As a single woman I felt comfortable coming and going at all hours. Public transportation was nearby and taxis were plentiful. There were a couple of supermarkets within easy walking distance, and a Whole Foods that was a long walk or short ride away. The building manager was welcoming and offered any assistance I might need (I didn't need any). The owners were friendly and responsive and called me shortly after I arrived to make sure I was comfortable and ask if I needed anything. The apartment had a binder full of useful information and maps, and several restaurant and tourist guide books. I'd definitely stay here again!
