  The Dacha is incredibly beautiful, located on a cliff above the Atlantic. The back wall of the living room consists of 4 giant wooden doors that slide out of the way to reveal the ocean view. The second floor master suite had a huge outside balcony, large bathroom and walk-in closet, and an outdoor shower with two rain-head faucets. The other 2 bedrooms each had a private balcony or porch. We only had 6 people in our group so did not rent the studio apartment. The house had loads of outdoor seating, in sun or shade, for admiring the view. The dining room table is a giant slab of concrete on a covered porch overlooking the ocean. And the piece-de-resistance was the infinity pool. We spent so much time soaking in the pool and looking out to sea. We watched wild horses grazing nearby and pelicans flying in the wind. And always there was the sound of waves crashing on the cliff below. Just outside the gate, a very short walk leads down to a small secluded beach. We did see some other people on the beach a few times, but every time we were there we had it to ourselves. Correction: one time we shared it with the wild horses. The house had been completely re-painted inside and out just before our arrival. The kitchen was fully equipped and there was a gas grill on the patio with full tank. The kitchen provided coffee filters, paper towels, paper napkins, zipper bags, foil. Long matches were also provided for lighting the numerous candles and the grill. The house had brand new bath towels, beach chairs, coolers and beach tote bags. The house also included 12 beach towels. There were a few sand toys in the laundry room and I saw a high chair in a closet, but my youngest is 13 so we didn’t use them. Karen provided personal attention to make sure we were comfortable, while respecting our privacy by calling before stopping by. She gave great advice on beaches, restaurants and shopping. When we arrived, no one knew the password of the house’s wifi unit, so Karen loaned us her own personal “Hotspot” until she located the house password. The house does have a few quirks still, but I am confident Karen will have them ironed out very quickly. The AC in one bedroom didn’t work and in another bedroom it dripped a lot. We were enchanted with The Dacha and hated to leave it. We all agreed that it was a great choice for a beach house and that we would want to stay there again.

  WE ARE TWO FAMILIES WHO LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF OUR VACATION AT THE DACHA. IT WAS SPACIOUS, CLEAN AND THE VIEWS TO THE OCEAN AND THE INFINITY POOL REALLY MADE US HAPPY. WE WILL RETURN AMY TIMES TO THIS LOVELY HOME AND RECOMMEND IT TO OUR FRIENDS. THANKS TO THE STAFF FOR MAKING OUR HOLIDAY A WONDERFUL ONE

  We rented this villa and thankfully the villa manager was not there when we arrived, after jumping over the fence when he was unreachable by phone we found a note on the front door. We found the keys after finally getting in touch with the guy (1/2 hour later) and we walked around the villa and then promptly left. There are no interior photos on this listing for a reason. The furniture is old, musty, and uncomfortable since it is a thin cushion on old creaky wooden furniture. There was breaking apart concrete, weeds on the terrace, cobwebs covering the viewing deck. For the price you are paying you are better off with another villa which is exatly what we did. Also this villa is in a not so great neighborhood as well, but it is behind the aforementioned security fence and gate. SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED. Keep in mind we live in the Caribbean on another island near the water so we know it takes work to keep the villa up to par, and they clearly have not done even the simplest of repairs.

  Owner response: Unfortunately, these guest did not arrive on time, but hours late. We did leave a key for them. The Dacha is one of the most admired villas in Vieques, with it's position on the bluff overlooking the Atlantic and its infinity pool. Anyone who has lived in the Caribbean should know that the potential for some water issues are always possible. As it happens, we are renovating the entire Dacha in the coming weeks, and certainly feel that The Dacha will be returned to its primary condition, which renters have loved for almost a decade.
