  This is a simply gorgeous, well sized family cottage right on the bay. The online pictures and descriptions are very accurate. The extra amenities we enjoyed most were the available kayaks for leisurely rowing in the bay and the outdoor fireplace, which we lit each night. Definately kept the mosquitoes at bay. There were multiple area reference books to help us plan excursions as well as recent newspapers with tide tables. The cottage is about an hour from the main portion of Acadia NP near Bar Harbor, which in August is very crowded, so we welcomed being able to leave the crowds in the evening. Heading east offers exploration of small fishing villages and lots of art galleries. We bought lobster at the coop in Winter Harbor and enjoyed exploring the Schoodic point portion of Acadia. This cottage location was great for getting a real taste of Maine. We enjoyed it so much, we would like to bring the whole family back next year for a longer stay!

  We just had an absolutely wonderful weekend staying at the charming "Cottage by the Bay". The cottage is nestled in the woods with stunning waterviews and just feet from access to the waterfront. We fell in love with this cabin's charm the minute we walked into it. The property was immaculate, very nicely furnished, had all the necessary linens, towels, and the kitchen was fully equipped.as described on this site, or, actually, even better. The cottage has a great open floor plan for the livingroom and kitchen which allows you waterviews from the wall of windows facing the water. The cottage has an spacious feeling. The deck is really large and it was great to just sit out there sipping coffee early in the morning. The granite patio, fireplace and grilling area was also a nice spot to relax in the evenings while a fire was burning. Although we didn't use the extra burners for cooking lobsters we were impressed that they were built into the fireplace area and available to use. There are kayaks and a canoe on the property. We used the kayaks and paddled out to see the seals sunning themselves on the rocks and paddled around the surrounding bay area. If you love photography this is just an ideal shooting spot. We visited Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Schoodic Point and Winter Harbor areas and felt that the cottage was centrally located to driving to these points of interest. The owner Tina was very helpful and wanted our stay to be just perfect. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area and activities taking place. The perfect cottage in the perfect location allowed us to experience a serene, peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable weekend. We will be back !
